About Sapporo Manchester
Sapporo Manchester restaurant is located on Liverpool Road, Castlefield, Manchester. Sapporo Teppanyaki is a Japanese restaurant, that delivers more than a delicious meal. We provide a dining experience which is ideal for large parties, couples and families. Come and enjoy our two course Express Lunch menu from £9 or our three course Early Diner menu for £14.95.
If it is a more relaxed experience you are looking for you can enjoy lunch in our bar area where you can access the whole menu without the excitement and entertainment of our traditional Teppanyaki grill.
Our Teppanyaki Chefs will entertain you as they prepare your meal. They’ve got plenty of tricks up their sleeves! They will demonstrate their sublime knife skills, slice food in half in midair and dazzle you as they juggle and amaze! Their performances are truly entertaining and it is fun that everyone will enjoy.
Japanese cuisine is notoriously healthy. We use the freshest ingredients to ensure our food is as healthy and delicious as possible. We have a huge variety of dishes. We have dishes containing duck, beef, chicken, fish, pork and vegetables, so we have something for everyone.
We don’t just have a wide variety of amazing food, we also have plenty of drinks to choose from too. We have Sake, Japanese cocktails, beers and whiskeys, so you can have the complete Japanese experience! If that doesn’t take your fancy, then we have Western beverages - beer, wine, spirits, champagne and soft drinks. Our restaurant has got something to suit everyone, while offering something different, we’re in a great location too, in Manchester city centre.
My husband, friends and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Sapporo Teppanyaki Manchester. The service, the food and the unique dining experience were all excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend dining at Sapporo
Absolutely amazing food and really friendly welcoming staff as always. One of my favourite restaurants in the city centre
We have been several times before and enjoyed it, however, things appear to have changed. The usual "show" was missing, there was no knife acrobatics or egg catching and slicing action. Yes, there was the potato wedges flipping, but that was about it in terms of interaction between the chef and the guests. What's more the food was incredibly salty and therefore lacked in actual flavour. The expensive buffet options are presented as getting the absolute best, but the reality is that you end up getting tiny bits of everything rather than a real treat or feast. We left disappointed for spending £140+ Service is amazing and atmposhere is definitely fun. Quality of food is less so.
Very disappointed to be over charged for the samurai menu, I was told by our waitress that it was on offer for £25 to celebrate Chinese New year, I was actually charged £39...
Great atmosphere and delicious food
Family and I love this restaurant! Food is fantastic and the chefs are great!
The food was excellent. A real dining experience
Amazing atmosphere and the staff are really attentive. Our server Callum was a good laugh and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night.
Food was way to salty and the beef did not taste like 100 percent beef.
Our table was booked for 4.30 when we arrived we were asked to wait at the bar and wasn’t taken to the taken for around 10-15 mins. Once at the table our order was taken but as we had only ordered mains we had to wait until the rest of the table had finished their starters. The chef arrived around 5.30 to cook the potatoes for the mains. This was a full hour after the the time the table was booked. We had to get another parking ticket for the car which cost another £5 as we weren’t expecting to be waiting for so long before we got our food. The atmosphere and food was amazing. I ordered the king prawns and they were very tasty as was the potatoes, veg and egg fried rice. The food was definitely worth the wait. It’s a shame that it was let down by the timing.
Really unhappy experience, this place had been recommended to me by friends for a long time and I decided to visit on Saturday 2nd February before going to the theatre. It will probably be easier to list the things that wasn't right. 1) Heating was broke and mobile heaters were randomly placed around the restaurant. Eye sore, but not enough and once seated ours was removed from our area. 2) Asked for a heater and it didn't appear, only half way through serving did we get a heater. 3) Chefs did not break into a smile at any point during service and it very much felt like they were going through the motions throughout the service. 4) my wife and friends sat with coats on during eating 5) seeing the chef pour the oils/butter from a 5L tub is just not what I expect from a restaurant with a high reputation, surely this should happen behind the scenes and not in front of a customer. 6) Bringing the trays of potatoes, meat and veg out but stacking these on top of each other and letting the bottom of one tub sit on the potatoes is just wrong 7) I was given my dessert and 1 min later without asking I was being served my bill for the meal, it was like I was a piece of meat and it just totally wrong. My experience is of Sapporo is one of the worst I have ever experienced, to be fair to the manager who I seeked to share my unhappiness with, he applied a discount to the bill of around £47. Only when I have woken up on Sunday morning have I realised that the £20 that a secured the booking with as a deposit online a couple of weeks ago, was not deducted from my bill. I don't want to go on and on, I never expected so many bad things could happen on one night, terrible. I hate to provide negative feedback, but hopefully by doing this it may help the business make some improvements.
Just absolutely Fabulous.Food fantastic, staff friendly & superb atmosphere.
The food was lovely and the chef very interactive and entertaining. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, we felt a really good energy. We were however extremely cold and had to move seats to be close to the only heater, which other tables seemed to be fighting for also (we had to keep moving the heater back towards our table). We were also rushed from the table 1 hour and 30 minutes after having sat down even though we were told we had a 2 hour slot. My boyfriend still had dessert in his mouth when they asked to move us! We also hadn’t even started our coffees, so that was a poor note to leave a lovely meal on and deflated our view of the restaurant a little. Nevertheless, the atmosphere and vibe that the restaurant provides is fantastic and it’s full of excellently concocted ideas.
Had a fantastic evening! Lots of fun and the food was delicious! However when we booked there was a promotional offer of 25% off all food. They didn’t add the discount to the bill. They were a bit funny about it when asked. However they did take it off in the end. That’s why only 3 stars for service.
It was a wonderful evening spoilt only by the fact that there was no heating. It was a bitterly cold night and the heating was non existent.
Really enjoyed the food, service was good, atmosphere was great.
Fantastic night! Great food
Absolutely loved the night! We loved tam who made it very funny and was really good with the food. The food was amazing and company was great! We went for my partners birthday they sang happy birthday and even brought out ice cream for him with a candle it was an amazing night and would definitely go back! My first time at a Japanese restaurant and it made a huge impression, thank you!
Lobster was not fresh but it was changed after reporting to waitress. Meat like chicken and beef were slightly over cooked but acceptable. Staff were polite and helpful. We were told 25% off food applicable to set menu but when the bill came it wasn’t the case. Had to ask and get it change. Not really worth paying over £20 service charge.
Amazing experience! Lived in Manchester City Centre for 8 years and never been here. I will now be a regular! Wow!
This was my second visit and on both occasions I was overcharged, this time £25, I understand mistakes can occur however I would have appreciated at least a word of apology from the waitress...It seems the emphasis is on the "style" of the waiting staff, not so much on their skills...
Foods ok nothing spectacular. Space on the tables isn’t great especially as you are basically dining with 16 other people. The Teppanyaki chefs and staff are all very good though.
Wonderful time and meal. Was my dad's 60th bday and the staff even sang happy bday to him. Good drinks, amazing food, friendly staff.
My only concern was an health and safety issue after observing a waitress slip and end on the floor I too slipped but did not fall when I stood up. This was due to the floor being extremely slippery.
