About Sabai Sabai Birmingham
First opened Sabai Sabai as a small, cosy, family-run Thai restaurant in Moseley 10 years ago. Proving a real hit with the locals they opened the Harborne restaurant, oozing a subtle eastern sophistication with carved wooden benches and low inviting lighting. Mastering contemporary chic and bringing a taste of Thailand to Birmingham.
I always love coming here every time I have been I feel the service is amazing. However our last visit felt way too rushed and we didn't feel as though anyone really cared about our table. I understand there was a big table in on this date but this shouldn't mean that other guests are left feeling less important. I love leaving tips as after working in this industry I know how hard you work, however I simply couldn't on 15/02/19 as service didn't really deserve this. I think I will stick to the harborne restaurant next time
The staff really made my daughters 18th very special
Will be back soon for another great evening
Cocktails were incredible - food was amazing, especially the chicken and prawn dumpling starter. The Calamari starter was really nice but felt it could've been better - the batter/breadcrumb was too think and calamari was overdone so a bit rubbery.
Food was good. Wine was very ordinary and overpriced. The room was very hot when full.
Very good all round meal, that delivers well each time we go
Really enjoyed our meal, we were greeted on arrival by the manager who was attentive during the evening. The food and service were excellent and despite having to bring our own ramp for my son to access the restaurant it did not spoil our evening Great place, great food and service, just need to consider disabled access and not use the disabled toilet as a store room
This really took us back to our Thailand holidays - excellent food, drink and service with a great atmosphere to boot. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and the flavours were amazing!! Definitely be returning in future
Fantastic service and delicious food had a lovely time celebrating my birthday with my hubby x
Food and drinks - good. We have been there 2 times before, and to be honest, this last visit was the best in terms of the food quality (particularly for the mains, which in the past were bland). Atmosphere - a bit noisy and the seating downstairs felt a bit claustrophobic... although the decor is very nice and warm. Ask to be seated upstairs; it is much nicer. Service - very good and quick. Value for money - It would be beneficial to review portion sizes, particularly for those mains that do not come with rice or noodles. The quality of the food is good, but it is not at a level to justify paying around £20 for a main and a side (£16 for the main - that had nothing special... it was chicken with vegetables and a hot sauce - and £3.50-£4 for a side of rice). Overall, it is a bit overpriced for what you get, which is good Thai food, but not exceptional or anything that you would not get in other places. I do not mind paying extra if the food is up to par, but unfortunately, it was not. That being said, I would always pay for their starters and deserts; some are totally worth the price. Just work a bit more on your mains, please. Overall, thank you for a nice evening.
Amazing venue, staff and food. Definitely book again. Absolutely fantastic x
Great food busy restaurant . A little wait to be asked if we wanted drinks once we arrived but every drinks order after was swift and efficient, food was delicious great tastes and flavours and importantly was served hot . My pet hate is tepid food . I shall return
Lovely food, staff are very welcoming and polite.... a cosy restaurant to dine at
Excellent food and service
Gorgeous food. Great service.
Very nice food
Great food great surroundings and service too!
Food was very good just service is slightly slow. Would reccomend a visit definitely.
Sababi Sabai accommodated 10 of us and gave an excellent service and the food was amazing. I will definitely come again!
Our main courses were delicious, although the jumbo prawns (2 prawns) were not of a large enough a quantity to be a satisfying main for one person. Our drinks and cocktails were really good and service was quick, friendly and efficient. We went on a Saturday night and would say that there is a loud and busy atmosphere, probably more suited to groups. Not the place to go if you’re looking for a romantic dinner for 2 on a Saturday night. The only negative I would have to point out is that the unisex toilets were pretty appalling and should have been cleaned a lot more regularly. For a nice restaurant, this isn’t something you’d expect to find. Overall we really enjoyed our meals and drinks and would revisit again with friends.
Really lovely food, felt the drinks were a little expensive though.
Disappointing that no Thai front of house staff work in the restaurant. Would make dining experience so much more authentic! Also the 2:4:1 website menu was not offered, which is confusing. Food though was great!
Would go back again!
