BREAKFAST & BRUNCH RESTAURANT
TAPAS BAR & RESTAURANT
I got a phone call 10 mins before I left the house ,telling me our reservation had been cancelled as the restaurant was closed I then read the newspaper to find out the premises was closed as in stopped trading, so NO I would say a good review would be the last thing I would be leaving.
Delicious brunch, good varied menu. Will definitely be back!
Full breakfast was awful. Very dry and everything over cooked. The toast tasted like leather as if it had been Heated and reheated. Both eggs were burst! Definitely would not recommend it.
Start with the positive, cannot fault the staff who were very nice and friendly, and service was quick and good. Now the negative, the food was not hot, warm at the best, cutlery was missing from table, milk never appeared. I expected 'Eggs Benny' to be eggs benedict. Was disappointed as 'eggs benny' had no bagel, no ham (cold bacon as sub) and very little hollandaise. The 'full english' was overloaded with cool haggis/black pudding mix. Not recommended
We were a table of 12 on Saturday, 7 of whom ordered chicken salad, the rest the club sandwich. Food took nearly two hours, waitresses not to be seen, no offers of drinks etc. When the food did arrive, it was bit by bit....meaning we had ot wait another 20 or so minutes before everyone actually had their meal. Food was terrible, caesar salad dressing just tasted like mayo, club sandwiches were pathetic - no flavour and the chick was either over or under cooked. Won't be back as what was meant to be a nice family catch-up, we all ended up quite upset the food and service ruined it. We have already been advising friends and additional family members to avoid.
Food cold and over cooked. No beer on tap and many items on menu unavailable. Very disappointed.
Service was fine. The place seemed clean, but the toilets in The Academy were pretty awful. Two of us had poached eggs on toast (£5 each) and added two toppings (add another £3 each). It was barely toasted dry ‘rye’ bread (looked more like a normal brown bread, but anyway) with very thin slices of avocado (we might have got half an avocado between two of us). The black pudding was quite dry and nothing to write home about. The bacon was fine, but £1.50 for a couple of thin streaky slices .. not so sure. Typical Aberdeen prices - £8 for a dry slice of bread and a couple of ‘average’ toppings - but wanted to try on the basis of a recommendation. The other member of our party had a croissant and yogurt & granola (£3 each) and she enjoyed that, but we were left pretty uninspired by the savoury choices. £10 a head for a disappointing brunch. Now I’ve been I probably won’t be back.
Service was very slow, took 1hour to receive food (starters arrived at same time.) Bread/oil consisted off large tub of oil with 3small slithers of bread. Shame as eaten in past and was a lot better.
We had been to the wine flight night before and had enjoyed our experience, but on this occasion unfortunately didn't leave a good lasting memory. The girls were lovely but slow and didn't have any knowledge about what we were tasting. The wines themselves weren't great with only one being enjoyable. The fridges weren't stocked making it difficult to pick a drink that we would actually enjoy and the atmosphere was lacking. However, we did find the main course we had (an extra) was delicious and couldn't fault the chef, fantastic taste!!
Excellent wine tasting, good food/nibbles too
Bought and used a brunch itison voucher on Sunday morning. Nice, neat establishment with good service. The brunch items were fine, neither exceptional nor sub par. Overall, good value for money considering the voucher we used.
I ordered the eggs benedict and it’s the first time the hollandaise sauce was served cold. It detracted from the fish and the hollandaise looked like it came from a jar, not freshly made. Other than that no complaints
A group of us did the gin tasting! It was a great couple of hours, fun and informative! Thanks we had a blast definitely recommend
Used itison voucher.
Was on an Itison Wine Flight with cheese board. Very good - lack of oatcakes but asked for more and this was not a problem.
We have been twice before and this time was a bit of a disappointment. The cheese board was half the size it was before, there was only oat cakes, no butter, hardly and cheeses, no talks about the wine. We won’t be booking for a fourth time or recommending it to friends as we have done in the past.
Excellent food excellent staff
Speedy service with good food
Lovely menu, big portions. Very friendly staff. Food came out quick, but staff were a bit slow collecting order and checking on us even though it was not busy.
We had a brilliant time doing the gin tasting with Jeff. Would highly recommend for a fun afternoon.
Had an itison voucher for wine flights and cheese/meat board. It was fantastic value for money. Service was great and there was a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be back !
Atmosphere la long as only us & one other table. Wine menu not fully available. Food ok - lacked dressing or variety of leaves on salad. Burger nice flavour but meat & cheese tough.
Lovely food and staff! Will be back ASAP!
Pancakes were among the best I have ever had. But unfortunately several of my first choice items from the brunch menu were unavailable. It was a bit disappointing that you had run out of avocado (part of my top 2 brunch dishes) as well as hot chocolate (no moccha!). So a bit of a mixed bag. I would visit again as those pancakes won me over.
Adrian and his fantastic team went out of their way to welcome us and provided first class service and superb selection of great quality food. All dietary requirements were catered for and my party guests all throughly enjoyed the evening. I'd definitely recommend this place as a go to for any event. Thanks again. Xxx
