About Rump and Wade
We will transform this historical space into a British Bar and Brasserie for the local community to enjoy.
We encourage you to check back regularly as we will have plenty of updates to share with you as we make progress through the works & introduce you to our beautiful addition to the Cromwell Hotel.
Great venue, good food and friendly service
The service was non existent- every time we wanted to order something or get a drink we had to go to the bar as there were no staff to be seen. The portions were tiny and the food was only okay.
Great service, great atmosphere, dry veggie burger!
This was a birthday treat and our party was not happy about the portion size especially the mains.
Service was a bit slow - we had to ask for drinks a few times. However, we eat here regularly so we know this was just a one off. Normally excellent all around!
The service was slow. We had to ask a waiter for more drinks, which they got wrong. They said we wouldn't be charged for the error but we were. The chips tasted as if the fat wasn't hot enough, there was no vinegar for fish and chips. They forgot our side order of onion rings so they arrived when we had nearly finished. No member of staff asked us how our meal was even though though was left on our plates. The restaurant was not that busy to excuse the poor service.
We were 30mins past brunch but they still accommodated us with the food we wanted which was great.
Unfortunately our starters were inedible, we had the squid and they were so tough we couldn’t bite through them. Our steak was tasty but asked for medium and we had very rare. I wouldn’t have minded so much but for my 10year old I would’ve preferred it to be a bit more cooked. The meals were tasty but let down with the cooking of I feel. However, the service was very good. They handled us as customers very well, apologising for the starters especially and I felt nothing was too much trouble. So thank you for this. All in all it wasn’t a bad first visit but not sure we would come back through disappointment of the cooking of decent ingredients.
Brilliant food - as always, nice espresso martini too! Looking forward to trying the breakfast.
Very pleasant evening. Tuna special was lovely and a nice size portion
The food in general was very good. Particularly the salmon and eton bramble were great. Unfortunately, it took well over half an hour for drinks. We later learned that there was only one member of staff behind the bar and a function had been booked in addition to the hotel and walk in customers. Due to the restaurant being under strain the steak we ordered had been blasted at too high a heat and was overly charred and not cooked evenly.
First visit to Rump & Wade yesterday, highly recommended food and service. Easy parking, a friendly welcome and an enjoyable lunch.
Staff were not knowledgable. They did not know details of the food being served. By early evening all ale had run out!
The decor and atmosphere is good and our food was reasonable and fairly priced. However, the service was non existent with our having to track down a member of staff for drinks and then we had to remind them On more than one occasion. There seemed to be staff but they were focussed on chatting and going outside for breaks! Has the potential but needs better customer focus.
Great food but when you ask for things to accompany your meal, they really should arrive without having to chase especially when not that busy.
Excellent service and food. We celebrated a birthday and the staff were more than happy to accommodate our cake.
Square table was too small for 4 people. When deciding that one of our party would have the Rainbow Trout 'special' the waitress turned her nose up and said that she hated fish! Quite funny at the time, until the meal arrived and it was the size of a postage stamp and dry as a bone. When asked mid way through the meal if our food was ok, we replied 'actually, the fish is awful' - a second waitress laughed at us and carried on walking. We complained to the head waiter to be told that we had to pay full price for it although the chef allegedly admitted that 'it was an unusually small piece of trout'. We know our rights so advised that we did not have to pay for this meal. We were offered 2 drinks on the house, these were incorrectly served as shandy instead of San Miguel... The head waiter then said that they had decided that the trout meal would be deducted from the bill. Too right! We would never have paid for it! But it felt like they thought they were doing us a favour....
Excellent service and a very enjoyable Sunday lunch.
Drinks service was very poor, food service good. Two of the meals were very dry
Friendly, courteous service, always a pleasurable experience.
The food is lovely apart from the cold apple crumble . But the drinks service was dreadful.more attention really needs to be looked into as this is the second time I have eaten here and it really really lets you down
Food was absolutely lovely.
This was my second time of having Brunch at Rump & Wade, but some of the group it was their first. Everyone was very impressed with the food quality and how good the value for money was. Will most definitely be recommending to friends and will be visiting again soon!
