the land for giving shelter and hospitality to the wayfarer.

Go Gently, Pilgrim.
Beautiful setting, lovely staff and great food.
Very poor service Sunday evening 2/08/20! Dinner was bought to our table before any drinks! Very unorganised with current situation, many other restaurants much better managed. How can you choose to sit near another table without any restrictions in place. Totally put off from visiting there again.
Perfect in every way. It was our 7th wedding Anniversary and we chose to spend it over lunch. We chose this pub as it was our very first date. We were lucky to have great weather but everything about it was perfect. Extremely attentive staff, friendly, well mannered and courteous. Social distancing was adhered to outside (we sat outside). Food was delicious and we didn’t have to wait long. Lots of space and room. A great atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back. Mr & Mrs Childs
Gorgeous old pub/restaurant. Great walks nearby. Great food and drink and very nice and helpful staff. I highly recommend the Royal Standard!
Great venue for a nice drink/lunch in the sunny weather. Lovely staff and overall wonderful experience. Recommend!
Nice family diner in a cosy place
Very generous portions, friendly staff and a lovely garden. Plenty of space and relatively well setup for social distancing and keeping safe. Chips were excellent!
Hi it was my partners birthday and everything was absolutely perfect apart from his main course (the ribeye steak) such a shame because the waitressing staff made a great effort and brought out a cake for him by surprise but the steak was so fatty he could eat it. Rather annoyed as we’ve had food before and been perfect and mine and the child’s meal were perfect but his was just riddled with fat! For £23 was very disappointing!
Chips could have been hotter. Meals great size
Lovely interior and great food, friendly service, lovely wine.
Really enjoyed the fish pie i had here recently. Lovely old pub, loads of parking and good dog walks nearby. I didnt think the Covid precautions were quite as good as some pubs ive been to but enjoyed the visit.
Food amazing as always
Our most favourite pub in England. Great food and service!
I would travel for miles to order your french onion soup !! The pub is full of history and has a fantastic ambiance. Service is always excellent.
Excellent Chicken Pie and mash. Good beer and pleasant atmosphere.
Great place. Nicely kept ale. Food good. All round good experience. Thank you.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere
Fantastic pub, great decor inside and a fantastic setting. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. Beer superb. Food not the cheapest, but good quality and good portions, so actually pretty good value for what you get. I can usually eat 2 courses but the lovely cheeseburger was more than enough for me. Great, chilled visit and lovely countryside to walk in, good way of banishing the post lockdown blues.
Wonderful to sit outside
Lovely to be back and sat outside. Lovely chocolate fondant.
always excellent and fun!
Fabulous evening thank you x
Excellent as always - Covid or no Covid.
