About Royal Oak Bangor on Dee
Nestled on the banks of the River Dee in the picturesque village of Bangor on Dee, North Wales, the Royal Oak offers excellent quality of food, it boasts this unique riverside setting with a warm and friendly welcome which all combine to make it a cut above the average village pub.
Inside is cheerful and contemporary with cosy armchairs and log burning fires as well as plenty of space for diners.
Outside there is terracing providing an idyllic setting on a sunny day, where you can enjoy a meal, coffee, glass of wine or pint and just listen to the gentle rippling of the water and watch the world go by.
Excellent meal and service
We came for the festive menu as advertised on your website. On your webpage it stated that the turkey roast dinner was £9.95. On looking at the paper menu, the price had changed to £13.95. We pointed this out to the waitress but she didn't offer a reason why the price had changed. We were disappointed with the meal & felt it didn't offer value for money. Maybe, the manager can offer a reason for the discrepancy.
Service was ok and restaurant clean. Food was a disappointment. We ordered roast beef dinners. We had hardly any veg. One piece of brocoli each. I had to ask for more veg. We had to pour the fat/oil out of the Yorkshire puddings into the empty veg dish, and we couldn't eat the beef. My daughters couldn't even cut the beef with a knife it was so tough.
Great place with fantastic value.
We are locals and often eat here as food is excellent especially the fish and chips
Lovely meal for the first time that 4 friends have seen each other since beginning of lockdown. Waitress was very attentive, polite, and very patient too as we took so long to order as were too busy catching up!! We are hoping to come again before Christmas
We had a lovely experience, it was our first meal out since the original lockdown in March. We felt very safe, there were plenty of hand sanitisers around for customers to use, very well organised systems in place and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal each which was freshly made and home cooked. We will definitely book again. Thank you for accommodating our request of a quieter table in the restaurant, it was very much appreciated.
Very efficient staff and great food.
Very good food.
Wonderful night. Compliments to the chef for a lovely meal and the staff for looking after us so well. We have told our friends and we hope you do another tapas night.
Fantastic tapas night please do some more themed nights
Very nice Food, and the staff were very excellent. Normally the atmosphere is great, but under the circumstances it was not bad at all.
Blown away by the vegan menu and the portions were a great size, lovely pub and staff.
Food and service were excellent, highly recommended.
Excellent food, pie of the day (steak & ale) is a must!
Lovely setting near the river. Warm welcome and great service. Food excellent. Will be visiting again very soon.
Lovely evening, food was lovely, staff very friendly and attentive
Very quiet on arrival so a good atmosphere was not really possible! We both found the room quite cold and were unable to remove our coats. Ordered one starter and both of us ordered Lamb shank. 5 minutes later we found out nothing we ordered was available! Very disappointed. Also surprised to see customers not wearing masks walking around talking to staff. Very disappointing.
Had to wait over 15 minutes for table to be ready to then be told there was a 45 minute wait on food. We didn’t wait. Seems to me the pub would prefer to serve regulars with takeaways rather than just the 8 tables of customers in the pub.
We came to try the new vegan menu. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed. The cost was high for the quality of the food, we waited a long time for food to arrive and the food was cold when it arrived. The apple pie was undercooked. The vegan duck and rice had very little to it beyond the duck and rice. The vegan ‘sausage’ and mash was good although again very little to it for the price. The Pate was good. Always great to see a vegan menu but needs some work to charge the prices you do.
Excellent food and service as always. Thanks
Good food and service.
