Royale, a 136-seater all-day-dining restaurant wows with its striking baroque style finishes and furnishings. The comfortable and cushy seats are upholstered in off-white leather accented by gold studs.
The eatery has intimate booth seats for two to four diners
and semi-circular banquet seats that can easily
accommodate groups of six. At Royale, the all-day dining menu features both western and local favourites created by Executive Chef Nicholas Sia. There is something to satisfy every craving.
value for money. great.
Thank you. We had a pleasant dinning experience in a quiet section.
Did not like the lok Lok menu. Too troublesome
I rate this value for money as I am getting 50% discount for ladies night. The spread is reasonable for the price paid for. You get to enjoy chilli Crabs, scallops, prawns, squid & etc. It will be good if the durian purée is more fragrant. The hotel provide free parking for dine in. Overall food are all fresh. Thumbs up
Variety rather limited but Quality is good. Took quite long to replenish food. Weekend price at $75++/px abit steep.
Nice place to eat and chit chat.
Great if we could b given complimentary parking as parking is expensive.
My booking was not in the guest list. Luckily the place is not full, or we will have no table
Environment is clean n cosy. Good is nice. Roast Duck Chief is very generous.😁
Can be better but ok for first time visit only.
Ambience and service is superb! Food selections ok. More cooked food selections. Could have added local food such as laksa, meesiam, satay. Waited 10mins to make payment at cashier. This shouldn’t have happened! No applogies fm the cashier.
The services was excellent. The atompshere is good. But the food selection is so-so. The mini burger, rice roll and sandwiches are dried and hard. I wouldnt mind going again since I paid for 24+++ (DBS 1-for-1 promo) . For the full price of $48, i do not think is worth.
We dine for dinner at the Royale, with the BBQ selection for 10 pax. The Good: 1) The restaurant is beautiful with modern decor and geat ambience. 2) Service is very good, with attentive and friendly waiters, professional service. 3) Making reservation is easy by just a phone call. 4) Currently having 1-1 DBS credit card discount, which makes the price of the buffet reasonable (approx $40/pax after GST+service charge). 5) The food is arranged beautifully, the plates and utensils were clean and neat. The Bad: 1) The food selection on a whole is severely lacking. at regular price of $80/pax, there is not enough food to justify that kind of pricing. 2) In general, the flavour of the food is lack luster. Most of the food is rather cold and lack freshness. Below is a more detailed comments of the food: Food Listing: a) Salad Bar - quite a range of DIY salad ingredients, but nothing fancy. b) Sushi - while beautifully arranged and made, the rice is too dry (left there too long) and the selection is underwhelming (not even sashimi) for a hotel standard such as Mercure. c) Fresh Seafood - Only has prawns, oysters and clamps. Luckily the seafood tasted fresh, but we were a little disappointed of the lack in selection again. d) Bread Bar - A bit out of place for dinner setting, the bread looks unappetizing, did not even tried this. e) Asian Roasted meat - nice to see a stall with food server but half the time, there was no one manning the stall which disappoints other customers. Manage to try the roast duck and it tasted decent, but better sauce needed. f) Asian Food Selection - Again the selection is really underwhelming for a 136 seater restaurants. While the Lok Lok idea is innovative, it takes approximately a third of the whole asian counter and it takes a while for the food item to cook in the soup base. Also the taste is just ordinary, need something to make it more special, this is a hotel after all! The rest of the asian food are unremarkable. We can see the effort that Royale is supposed to celebrate local asian food, but there must be a more effective way to showcase this. The Chill crab sauce is actually really good (but sadly cold) and the fried mantou is great, unfortunately the crab itself is mediocre, but good effort on that dish. g) BBQ - We were looking forward to this section, since it was the highlight. How disappointed we were to find out that the selection is very limited and the food are all already bbq-ed! so again they tasted cold. BBQ food needs to be a live cooking station in order to fully capture the customer. Also needed to have more selection, beef, sausages, etc? h) Deserts - This was the saving grace of the night. We love the asian desert kiosk. Many of the Kue were a hit, though some are really really bad (ondeh ondeh is way too hard, ang ku kue is way too small). Would be good if you can expand the Kue selection, perhaps see malaysia or indonesia kue for inspirations? The Durian pengat is nice, the cake selection is decent. Did not get to try any as it takes a while for the desert item to be replaced. We can see many customers were waiting. The ice kachang kiosk is a nice touch, though i dont see anyone trying that. The ice cream parlor is nice but I think if there is a live waffle / pancake stall, it will draw more customers. While many of my guest were surprised by the general lack of food selection and quality, they admit that the ambiance and location is a winning factor. If Mercure and the executive chef can work together and improve the quality of the food and selection range, we will be more than happy to make another visit. But at current state, sadly, it would be difficult to convince us to make another visit. We wish you the best and hope you will able to up the quality!
Limited choice of spread of Chinese new year food. Roasted delight sectionwas extremely cold and hard.
Service was really poor. While airing for our food to come, we’ve requested for 4 cups of water which did not come until one of us when to the counter to request again. It took more than 45mins for food to be served when the food items are all ready served kind.
Hotel need to improve the ventalization of their washroom... Very stuffy in the day especially during day.
Overall was great experience for me and my 10 friends. Feedback: Replenish of food was very slow
Replenishment of food is real slow. Many selection remain empty for good 15 mins or longer; popular item like the crabs disappeared by 8plus & NOT replenished at all! Cannot find sea cucumber amongsr the brocoli & mushroom. Real disappointment.
Dishes were unique and tasty. The only main disappointment was that these dishes was not replenished fast enough. Many diners were seen wandering around food counters but most left disappointed. This also caused fear, especially the moment food was replenish, to grab as much as possible, leaving other diners with little to no serving left. I hope the restaurant can look into this matter, ensuring paying customers get to taste and experience the specially curated lunch menu by the Chef and his/her team.
Food need to be top up regular. Not nice seeing empty pots after making a few rounds
Desserts were great, especially the durian pengat. But the mains and savoury are a bit lacking and too heavy on the carbs side. Wished there were more variety of non-carbs items e.g. Chicken wings or spring rolls etc. Service was excellent, staff helped to identify the best promotional deal for us.
We had a wonderful post Christmas lunch at Royal. The food was delicious and the staff are simply warm and wonderful and took care of us so well. Only downside was we missed the delicious Ivory and Dark chocolate log cakes for desssert as it was finished very fast and was replaced by another delicious dessert of almond and vanilla cake. Nervethless I will highly recommend this restaurant to have a lovely meal with family and friends
The atmosphere was really festive with Santa Claus roaming around for photos with guests. The food, however, can be improved in terms of replenishment, along with the cutleries and glasses which fell short in supply as time goes by. Nonetheless, for a Christmas Eve's dinner, it is still much more affordable than other places.
The ambience and food is great except that the refill for the food are rather slow during the lunch buffet.
Variety was lacking. All the hot food was cold and desserts did not taste good.
