About Rowleys Village Pub & Restaurant
Rowley’s Village Pub and Restaurant sits on the edge of the beautiful Chatsworth Estate in the pretty village of Baslow. Our passion is fresh, seasonal food using local ingredients in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
The bar is a great place to meet up with friends, open from 10 am serving Nespresso coffee. Call in at any time for a glass of wine, hand crafted beer from local breweries, or join us for a light lunch or an informal dinner. Rowley’s boasts three contemporary dining areas, ideal for lunch, supper or dinner.
We will look forward to welcoming you soon.
Six years since our last visit as unfortunately we moved away from the local area but, never fear, Rowleys still delivered the goods and we enjoyed a really good evening meal. Service is attentive but friendly (lovely to see familiar faces even after such a long interlude) and the kitchen team haven't lost their touch. Really hope it isn't another six years before we can get here again!
Absolutely spectacular. I brought my girlfriend here for a surprise birthday meal having walked from Pilsley. Amazing atmosphere, superb food and outstanding service from all staff (a big thanks to one of them for arrananging a taxi back to Pilsley for us!).
Excellent lunch, the hake in particular was really good
We had a very enjoyable meal and the food was excellent. Our waitress was acceptable, but she could have been a bit more friendly in her approach...and remember to serve the Lady first !
First time we’ve been but will definitely return
We couldn't rate it more highly, everything was excellent
Excellent food. Better than anything we have had in France in recent years.
We all had a lovely lunch, good food and drink. I found the service very warm and friendly, and I was impressed that you were not put out by some of our guests arrveing late. Fault of football and a young boy!!!The birthday girl was very happy - thanks, and especially to Karen.Ann
Very good food and service
Booked a table for 7.30 but arrived at 6.30 asking if we could be seated earlier as we were hungry. Restaurant not full. We were then kep waiting for 1 1/2 hours. After waiting half an hour at the table we had to ask the waitress to take our order, so order not taken until after 8.00pm. We had over 30 mins between courses. So main course came 2 hours after we arrived. In all the service was terrible.
Food was lovely. Service was a bit scatty - several times we were offered meals we had't ordered, waitress who started taking our order was distracted 1/2 way through, first course arrived before we had finished our pre- meal g+t, Felt rushed with main arriving immediately plates were cleared fom 1st course.
We have eaten at Rowley's many times over the last few years and have always been very happy both with the quality of the food and service.
Lovely restaurant in the village of Baslow. Interesting menu and food was very good quality. Would highly recommend.
Agradable. Buena comida.
Honestly the best food we’ve ever eaten. We don’t live in Derbyshire but do visit the area as tourists and one of the things that draws us back is Rowley’s. Third visit now and we will be back again. Thank you for fitting us in and thank you for an amazing meal.
Fabulous place to relax with friends & family. Relaxing and informal with good food and excellent service. Two family guests with allergy/food intolerances where well catered for which was a refreshing bonus! Highly recommended and hope to return soon.
Second visit, and even better than the first! Great to be at a table near the kitchen. Will be back with my daughter, and will ask for the same table as I know she'll love watching the kitchen at work!
Booked a large group for a 70th birthday. We had an excellent experience. Food in general was delicious. Stand out dishes - hake, absolutely superb, pork belly - crackling popcorn nice touch, the sauce was incredible, married with the charred cauliflower, perfectly balanced. Really good feedback from people who had the salmon too. I've only given 4 stars because picking holes in anything makes me happy (belly pork for example could have been cooked for longer to render off a little more fat). But they are small criticisms. The wine list was extensive and impressive and the Malbec we chose was wonderful, Staff were really great right from the booking to seeing us off. Many thanks.
Nice place. Accommodated athe dog in bar too. Need to book. Would go back.
Food tasted really good and was presented well but my lamb shank meal was a little too small. I was still hungry. Puddings were also good but portions a little small
Starter was amazing. My lamb was yummy but my husband's steak was dry and chewy. The steak came with a sauce which was nice but it covered the steak and so overpowered it. It would have been nicer to have the sauce in a separate pot. Service was slow but friendly. It would have been nice to have quiet music playing in the background. It was value for money apart from the steak as we've had better for cheaper.
The main course I chose was the duck, 1 small slice with duck confit.... expecting a little more considering it was a main course. My husband's steak was returned because it was overcooked.....of course there is a delay before he was able to continue the meal. Disappointing.
First time here and we'll certainly be back!
