It’s always a pleasure to dine at Room 81 as the food is always excellent
The staff were extremely knowledgeable of each meal being served. Due to the restaurant being quite busy, and with only two wait staff rostered on, we were kept waiting for a prolonged amount of time, before being acknowledged and then seated. The restaurant, while being nice, it lacked ambiance. We have dined at a few Chef Hatted restaurants, and have had a wonderful dining experience, as we did with Room 81, however, this is the first restaurant where we still felt hungry at the end of the meal. In conclusion, we would like to commend the chef on his creativity and culinary skills. Our meals were sensational. The winner of the night for me was the Lamb Belly, and my partner loved the scallop soup, she said it was to die for.
I don’t like unsolicited emails with no ‘unsubscribe’
Food and service were excellent but the location of the restaurant with an aspect out over the entrance way is simply terrible.... a 5star restaurant in a 1 star location. John
Service was great. We had the 7 course degustation and it was plenty. They even bought out chocolates at the end though f our desert for our anniversary on a d curative plate. Was very surprised
Amazing experience. Service and food are impeccable. Excellent food and wine matching. highly recommended.
Scallop veloute was a bowl of absolute heaven! My husband isn’t a scallop fan (unlike me!) and even he LOVED it. Amazing!!! Thanks for a great night altogether, and it was great to sit so close to the kitchen and experience the atmosphere. Definitely won’t be our last visit!
Just a fantastic experience and Letitia was so helpful.
The service was amazing, made sure that every dish was explained including flavours within the dish. Always made sure that we were okay and we did not have to wait long for each dish to arrive. Atmosphere was nice with a candle lit and all staff were very lively which made our meal enjoyable aswell.
We keep coming back year after year. And still enjoy it everytime.
We had a wonderful night out at Room 81. The Maitre’d was fabulous along with her staff. The food was amazing and the paired wines were perfect.
Wonderful service and delicious food. Great variety of dishes and impressive wines to match. It was all outstanding.
We'll definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our night. The food was exquisite and the staff were so professional and friendly. Their knowledge of the food and wines was excellent. Thank you for making our friend’s special birthday treat an amazing experience. We would highly recommend you for any special occasion or just an “I want an amazing dining experience”.
We were quite disappointed with Room 81, given it's reviews in the 2019 agfg ratings, and our experiences with similar high level degustation menus in Australia (Quay, Tsetsuya's, Kiyomi, etc) and in France. The meal was OK, but for the price, we expected much more. For example, the 9 course option described in the AGFA pages, was not available, and many of the dishes described by there were not included. Virtuallly none of the reviews left by agfa members on the agfa site, bore any resemblance to what we had - and those reviews were a major factor in our deciding to eat at Room 81. For example the very first review said: "...I naturally went with the 9 courses with matching wines. At $120 plus $60 with matching wines was absolute bargain. ". We certainly saw no bargain in our $457 bill for two, which also included two cocktails. Except for the scallops (and perhaps the ceviche, and elements of the other dishes), the food tended to be underwhelming, and the matching wines were pretty humdrum. We live at the Gold Coast and will not be giving Room 81 a second chance. Back to Kiyomi!
Very special dinner at Room 81 on 23 Jan, 2019, the staff went out of their way to ensure it was a memorable night for me with some very special extra touches. The menu was fresh and innovative showcasing some of Australia's wonderful flavours, the wait staff extremely knowledgeable about the food being served and nothing was too much trouble. Dietary restrictions were met without compromising on flavour or presentation. This was my 3rd visit to Room 81 if I lived on the Coast as I would be visiting many more times than I have to date.
Excellent night out. Food fabulous, service and service personnel brilliant.
We enjoyed the 5 course degustation with matched wines. The portions were quite generous so we felt it was just enough for us. Each course was thoughtfully put together and full of flavour - we couldn’t pick a favourite! Service was lovely. Happy to recommend.
We had a lovely evening
We have been to room81 many times and never had an issue, however this time we were extremely disappointed. We had the 12 courses, 2 of which we did not eat or find remotely enjoyable. The two dishes were the apricot and the bone, we were told that 'foodies love these dishes' as though our opinion was invalid. The service from this point slipped significantly. To have a bill of $1000 and walk away annoyed and dissatisfied is not ok. Your staff should learn to respect their customers, perhaps you may have more bookings if this took place.
Great service and food. Enjoyed the experience as an Accor member with discount, however without this it is a bit expensive.
The best rest on the Gold Coast.
Great night out. Food was exciting and delicious. Wait staff were knowledgeable and appeared to be very proud of the accomplishments of Room 81. Shouldn’t think of Room 81 being another hotel restaurant, rather should think of Room 81 being a stand-alone fine dining establishment.
We had matching wine with the 5 courses and the wine paired beautifully with each course. Would love to have had a fish option as I don’t eat red meat but was told I couldn’t swap anything out and I didn’t enjoy the lamb. Having said that, the rest of the meal was exceptional.
Leticia and her staff are absolutely superb. Above and beyond. Still some minor confusion regarding our Partner Card but we are getting there. Thanks again
