Always a great experience. Letitia looks after us. The food is a taste sensation.
Overall a really nice evening
Really good foods
Room 81. I believe was the best restaurant on the coast..... but I think the changes that have been made are major, and I am not sure yet if they will have a positive outcome for the customer base it had built up... II did miss the unusual fine dining experience this restaurant used to provide..
We had a range of dishes which were priced quite premium. My roast pork was okay except the skin was not crispy as expected. The girls both ordered the fish of the day and while weren't disappointed, they were also not impressed. My brother-in-law ordered the risotto which tasted all sorts of wrong for him and he ate very little. We were informed that the chef was experimenting. It isn't a good idea to still be experimenting with dishes being sold. Our table was too near the hotel lobby and exposed to external negative factors. The service was great and the only really positive part of the night however not enough to ever return. I also could not recommend to any friend or colleague.
We love Room 81 and celebrate all our special occasions here. We are always impressed by the food and the service and of course the divine cocktails. We visited recently and loved every part of our evening. Exceptional.
A fantastic dining experience . Food is exceptional and value for money. We discovered room 81 on a visit to Broadbeach las year and dined twice and this year have come to Broadbeach especially to dine at room 81 and again this evening will be our second visit on this trip . We live in Sydney and made a detour on our way to Byron bay . Please let the chef know his creative ability in the kitchen is greatly appreciated. To compliment his great food the service is also wonderful with professional friendly people who take pride in what they do.
Very limited but over priced menu. Service very average and atmosphere lacking. Will not be returning.
the service is not so good, most of my water glass is empty and they never introduce or explain the meal to us.
Terrible evening. Average to poor food. My wife’s main was tasteless and salty. We paid $18 dollars for two bread rolls!!!! The service was incredibly poor. I was given a butter knife to eat my steak and they did not ask me how I would like my steak cooked. They also did not see fit to clear our entree plates away for 20 minutes and all the tables around us were also dirty. When I complained they told me it is not the restaurant it was 3 months ago. 2 chef hats!!?? Are you having a laugh. It’s nowhere near that. I will be writing to the Australian good food guide to make them aware how this restaurant is resting on their laurels!
Sour bread was so basic. I thought it would be fresh doughy and warm and it wasn't anything special at all. Scallops were smothered in lime and it was very strong and you could not taste the scallop at all. The main was lovely. They refused to serve us any more alcohol after my partner joked with the waiter. He had only had two beers. So we left without ordering dessert and more drinks so you lost a sale. Had a very average night at such an expensive restaurant. Would not come back and would not recommend to anyone else.
A very enjoyable evening
We received a voucher for a 5 course degustation dinner at Room 81 after we stayed at the Sofitel for our wedding and there were some issues. The voucher was very much appreciated and we decided to use it a year later for our anniversary dinner. Upon booking I was told that they don't do degustation, and after further enquiry I was told our voucher would instead cover $200 of food. We arrived and were seated - all the staff were lovely. We overheard them telling other tables that the other restaurant is being refurbished, so they are offering al la carte in Room 81 while that's going on and reassured everyone the food would still be good. It was quite a casual atmosphere which we weren't expecting, but after hearing that the other hotel restaurant is closed it made sense. Overall it was an adequate time but it would have been nice to experience Room 81 in all its glory. I'm not sure we will go back for our second anniversary.
Was amazing to be a patron of this establishment will be returning 100% thanks to all the staff there also me and Stacey really had a beautiful night
Attendants and waiters knew their stuff about the menu items and wine list. Atmosphere was classy but the menu could have an enlarged choice on the mains. Quality of food was excellent as expected from this establishment.
An excellent make-over of this long established restaurant that makes for a better dining experience. A pity they have done away with the Menu Degustation concept, but the a la carte menu is very good with excellent and sophisticated tastes. Quick and efficient service. My only gripe, is why you charge $9 EACH for the bread (when the On 4 Restaurant in the same hotel makes it complimentary) and worse still my bread was VERY stale. They did take that from the bill, but it is something the restaurant Management needs to review.
I’m not sure what Room 81 was like before the recent refurbishment, but the experience we had in the newly unveiled space was pretty pedestrian in a space that felt like a slightly upmarket RSL bistro, not a fine dining restaurant in a purportedly five star hotel. It wasn’t bad per se, but the upmarket prices were matched to a decidedly mid market ambiance and menu from about 10 years ago.
We found the Menu to be a little underwhelming and the venue to be a little overstaffed. It seemed to take two staff to do everything. But it was still difficult to get out wine topped up.
Our second visit. Not disappointed by any aspects of our evening.
We had to wait ages for the staff to find the bottle of wine we ordered! Then had to wait far too long for a very average coffee! The beef and scallop dishes were delicious. Pumpkin pie was different but good.
We dined here on the recommendation of our hotel reception and great feedback on TripAdvisor. It was walkable distance from our hotel. The one page menu had an Australian theme with tasty dishes but not very large portions for the price. The service was slow the night we visited from greeting at reception to taking orders. We expect more attentive service at s fine dining establishment. The waitress however was very pleasant and professional.
Had the tapas menu. Every dish was excellent. But some of them extra special. The cauliflower, the duck and the mandarin desert, really something. Great service. Made excellent recommendations. Best food we have had around Surfers.
Good service, food was nice, my winning dishes were the blue cod, duck, prawns and desserts. A tad pricey. Can really get a good bill racking up. Portions are bit small for the price you pay.
The seafood dishes were excellent
Our third dinner at Room81 was just as memorable as the first two - the tasting plate menu which has replaced the previous degustation style was varied and absolutely delicious. Our favourite was the cauliflower - divine! Excellent service by very friendly and knowledgeable staff made for a great anniversary celebration dinner.
