About Rock Hotel Terrace Restaurant
The Rock Hotel prides itself on its great cuisine which reflects Gibraltar’s great heritage with tastes of Morocco, Spain and of course the best of British dining.
With its comfortable surrounds which introduce modern comfort to colonial splendour, The Restaurant and Lounge Bar are the places where visitors can enjoy their lunch or dinner or simply relax over a welcoming gin and tonic. The Rock Hotel’s famous English or Moroccan Afternoon Tea is served in the Lounge Bar or on the Wisteria Terrace where you can take in the most amazing panoramic sea views.
Our restaurant offers a round the clock dining experience. Guests begin the day with a hearty breakfast in the elegant Restaurant and Wisteria Terrace.
Later in the day, a modern style lunch is served followed by brasserie style dining in the evening.
We feature a daily changing House Menu as well as a full, seasonally changing a la carte menu which we hope you will enjoy.
Very good experience, would book again. Food excellent, services very good. A excellent experience, would recommend.
The idea to do classic French/European and Moroccan cuisine makes sense in therms of location and history. But unfortunately makes challenges for the kitchen. It is clear that the staff don’t always master both. Dishes varies significant from day to day and quality is inconsistent. You have a great hotel, wonderful staff, great location and a proud history, but as a professional chef and consultant, in my opinion, you need a recipes, pictures of the dishes and stronger guidelines for the staff for the restaurant to live up to expectations.
The house made strawberry jam was a hit, which came with the usual clotted cream. The window table is certainly recommended. Regardless personnel passed by frequently but no question asked even to get the hot water replenished. It did not come with milk unless asked for it. Service quality certainly needs improvement.
We went for a relative's birthday, the service, food and atmosphere was fabulous! We love going for special occasions! Can't wait for next time!
All very nice, tea and coffee beautiful Cakes and sandwiches very fresh. Might have nice to have more sandwiches and one less cake, but that’s just our preference
Fantastic hospitality and service. We really enjoyed our 42nd anniversary lunch at the hotel. Ed Sullivan
Wonderful Hotel and Restaurant. Perfekt Service. The food was very good. A greeting to the chef. We will be back.
We enjoyed our champagne afternoon tea at The Rock. The cucumber sandwich was a little soggy and the ham/cheese would have benefitted from some butter. Otherwise the rest were really tasty - especially the salmon. The scones, clotted cream and chef's made Blackbery jam a treat - along with the cakes. Great views and setting - thank you
wonderful view and really delicious high tea!
Beautiful setting on the Terrace for Afternoon Tea, particularly for a special occasion. Staff were friendly & a pleasure to speak to.
We both really enjoyed everything about our experience. The service was first class and left us wanting for nothing.
The worst afternoon tea of my life. Poor service. Frozen clotted cream. Dry pastries. Wet sandwiches. Dirty linen. Poor experience. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Dear Mr. Toles, Many thanks for your constructive feedback which is appreciated as it helps us monitor our operation and carry out any necessary improvements. We are very sorry that you were disappointed with the experience but can we assure you that yours was an isolated instance and not the normal standard. You should have been offered both loose tea and tea bags as we normally do. The fact that the clotted cream was not at room temperature was an oversight but we have taken specific action to avoid this from reoccurring. Our chefs prepare strawberry home-made jam and scones. The glass jam jar is a touch to convey that the preserved jam is home-made. We hope to restore your perspective some time in the very near future Kind regards.
Very enjoyable meal at a reasonable price
We booked Sunday a 3 course Sunday lunch, which was good value. Lovely surroundings and great service. Maybe you could consider making the crème brulee a bit bigger portion? It was just a few mouthfuls!
An excellent meal from the set menu, and some reasonably priced fine wines, especially Spanish, on the list.
Excelent service , and food
Booking and changing our reservation was very easy, and the restaurant called a day ahead of time to say they could accommodate my annoying food allergies. When we arrived they pointed out several things on the menu I could (and did!) enjoy. Our small wedding party was very satisfied with the value and variety of the menu, the wine, and the quality of the delicious food. I personally appreciated the attention they paid to my needs, like cooking the veg in olive instead of butter without me having to ask. We would return here in an instant and highly recommend the restaurant to anyone else looking for a good meal.
When booking afternoon tea , was given a time of 1400 but when arrived at the hotel was then informed that afternoon tea commenced at 1600. We would of waited until 1600 but once st aff were a where of the confirmation email , they rushed away to gather up a tea. It was by far the worse afternoon tea we have experienced, stale bread for some of the four swandwiches provided and cakes were lacking in finesse, two scones were dry . This was a gift token for my wife’s 50th birthday, so very disappointed.
Everything I requested had been arranged.
First time at the restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised. Despite being mid winter the restaurant was nicely busy and it would be hard to complain. The food was unpretentious but well presented and tasty and good value considering the hotel is considered as being up=market. We will definitely be coming again, soon.
Lovely day out! Will definitely return!
The restaurant was a lovely setting along with friendly staff. The food was a little disappointing and the menu was rather outdated. The bread was served cold and the butter was in packets and not easily spreadable. We found the starters were the best part of the meal, all the main courses we had were rather bland and not very inspiring. It would help if the red wine was served more to room temperature and the cheese board was basic and predictable.
Perfect setting for afternoon tea and a lovely selection of festive sandwiches and cakes.
We were disappointed in our experience for tea time at the Rock Hotel. We should have been more skeptical about the quality because of the price. We would have been willing to spen more for better quality tea and assortments. We would not recommend to have the tea set but to just enjoy the view with a drink. Also the service was way below average. Most service members seemed they like they did not want to be there and their English was limited at best.
what a beautiful hotel everything was perfect for our special day and everyone went out of there way to make it more special (wedding day) The food was to beautiful and the staff well cant say enough but will be going back
