About Rockfish Dartmouth
This was our first restaurant, which overlooks the spectacular river Dart. The river is full of ever changing activity, from fishing & sailing boats to super yachts, there is something new and interesting everyday throughout the year. Our restaurant has 90 covers with an upstairs area that can be hired for private celebrations and in warm days we have a small terrace to eat in the sun. During the colder months the restaurant is heated by a log burner which makes it a great place to come and enjoy seafood after a bracing walk by the sea. We also have a take-away situated at the top of the ramp of the Lower Ferry, serving thesame great seafood which can be enjoyed on the watersedge in Bayards cove with a cold pint from the Dartmouth Arms.
Food was good but service and ambience could be better. Felt like an American cafe.
My wife is a vegetarian and she thinks it would have been better having a halloumi burger rather than tofu as it was bland.
Lovely. We enjoyed it very much. Nice relaxing atmosphere for families and couples alike. The food is simple (as it should be) and well cooked. Would definitely come again.
We gave ourselves three days in Dartmouth and ate at Rockfish on two of them such is our affection for the place - great food.
Excellent place & absolute love the fact they give kids a special pack!!!
Really nice meal. Definetly a must when in Dartmouth.
We have visited Rockfish many times always excellent! Tuesday 14August was an exception so bad we had a free bottle of wine but we would have preferred good service and definitely good food! The service was appalling and the food was just warm and very mediocre portions! I think it had been hanging around and got cold!
We enjoyed our food, but we had a 45 minute wait between starter and main course
Very poor standard at Rockfish these days. We have a holiday home in Kingswear and eat at Rockfish regularly for the past 4 years. We used absolutely love it but it’s gone downhill now. The fish isn’t cooked as well, it’s over done, the chips are less generous and not as good quality and the service is incredibly poor. Last night our food arrived 20 minutes after we walked in which is fine but we still hadn’t received our first drinks yet! So we had food and no drinks after 25 mins.. The waiting staff are all incredibly young and inexperienced and are clearly not being managed well. They kept forgetting spoons, sauces, drinks, the bill! It was a conundrum. We didn’t really enjoy it and won’t be going back there again for a long time or until we hear it improves.
We very much enjoyed our meal at Rockfish . The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked. We appreciated the fact that only fish caught freshly were in the menu.
We were particularly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and also how well young children were catered for. The little pack of "goodies" was greatly appreciated by our granddaughters, who much enjoyed the meal. Thank you for a great experience.
We love coming to Rockfish, always book a table when we visit the area, the only negative I can think of ... Those salt and pepper prawns as a starter, there's just never enough of them !!! There great !
Great atmosphere. Fantastic food.
This was our first visit to Rockfish having moved to Dittisham recently. We were impressed with the warm welcome, and the knowledge of our waitress. It was nice being upstairs and we liked the decor and ambience. The food was delicious - very fresh food and good to be able to try different fish other than cod or haddock. Only negative would be to have bigger water bottles as we had to keep asking for refills!
Lovely fresh fish. Kids loved the new kids pack!
In response to your recent enquiry with regard to my visit to your fish and chip shop restaurant in Dartmouth, we arrived for our booked time of 8pm, exactly on time, were shown to a table, and then waited thirty minutes before anybody came to enquire as to what it was that we would like to have to eat that evening. Having given the girl, the waitress, our choices, we asked how long it would be before we would be served, and her comment was, “I don’t really know, possibly one and a half hours, maybe one hour, or maybe half an hour”, I’m not sure whether she was being sarcastic or not. We ordered two drinks, and then waited a further twenty minutes with still nothing forthcoming. By this time I’d had enough and got up and told the young lady who had visited us to ask for our requirements with regard to a meal, I was not staying and would never come back again, and left. I will never ever visit your fish and chip shop again. We walked for fifteen minutes to The Floating Bridge public house, ordered fish and chips and two drinks, and were served within fifteen minutes. Your so-called famous or infamous fish and chip shop will never be visited by me again.
Great service from everyone especially when our main courses were taking rather a long time - this was immediately picked up and sorted out without us having to say anything. - a big thanks! Also as someone who has to follow a non-gluten diet I must say the battered hake was absolutely divine! My husband particularly enjoyed the smoked bay mackerel as the starter. All in all a wonderful meal celebrating our anniversary whilst holidaying in Dartmouth. Our only wish is that you had a branch closer to us in Guildford! Will definitely visit every time we're in Dartmouth or the locality. Thanks Sue and Bob Looseley
Lovely lunch, very attentive lady waitress.
Great meal, staff seemed a little stretched. Unfortunately ran out of wine glasses and served wine in a champagne flute.
Good ,as usual. Quality of the haddock and its batter was actually a bit better than last time
4th cost but not up to scatch Starter arrives after main course, the chips and mushy peas were served lukewarm at best and had to be returned We were charged for a bottle of wine that we had not had Waitress description of menu was clearly just repeating a script Very disappointing overall
Service pretty slow and orders seemed to be backed up. Needed more staff serving I think as wasn’t their fault they were doing their best. Amazing food as always. Absolutely delicious!
Fantastic fish and chips.
Excellent as usual. Lovely atmosphere, tasty food and a great kid's pack which kept us and our 6 year old thoroughly entertained!
