About Rockfish Dartmouth
This was our first restaurant, which overlooks the spectacular river Dart. The river is full of ever changing activity, from fishing & sailing boats to super yachts, there is something new and interesting everyday throughout the year. Our restaurant has 90 covers with an upstairs area that can be hired for private celebrations and in warm days we have a small terrace to eat in the sun. During the colder months the restaurant is heated by a log burner which makes it a great place to come and enjoy seafood after a bracing walk by the sea. We also have a take-away situated at the top of the ramp of the Lower Ferry, serving thesame great seafood which can be enjoyed on the watersedge in Bayards cove with a cold pint from the Dartmouth Arms.
Just a small criticism air conditioning should have been on because it was so busy and therefore very hot !
We visited the Dartmouth restaurant for father's day and enjoyed a pleasant lunch. The only feedback I would provide is our children weren't even offered their dessert which was part of the children's meal offering.
It was our first time at the restaurant and we were extremely impressed, the gentleman that served us made us feel very welcome. The food was absolutely top notch, our little 2 year old daughter said it was the best meal that she had ever had....trust me you will not get any higher praise than that! We Will be back. Al
Excellent meal and service on Sunday 17th June evening for a family meal.
Excellent online booking system. Great meal.
Bit disappointed with portion size for smoked salmon starter bearing in mind the price. I appreciate it is not supermarket stuff, but sill thought a bit over priced, or could have had a slice more for the price..and a bit of bread to mop up the dil sauce. Whole seabass were excellent - just cooked to our liking; moist and still firm. House salad and chips just right for the dish. Staff friendly and efficient. Female toilets could do with a refresh (door lock was worn and looked flimsy - I kept fingers crossed it was strong enough to hold a strong tug from someone on the other side. Did like the 'mock' shipping forecast whilst sitting there though).
Birthday lunchtime treat for wife. Very polite and courteous greeting showing us to our prebooked table to include our dog. We were sat in the window alcove giving the dog plenty of space. Had prawns in batter and spider crab croquettes for starters. Both very good. To follow battered whiting , very nice and delicate and I had cuttlefish, simple but delicious and not overcooked. All washed down with a bottled beer each and a bottle of merlot. Cannot fault our visit on any point and have booked same again next Saturday lunch for my birthday.
A fab evening, our servers were great and the food excellent as ever. Thank you for a great time.
Excellent food and friendly service. Would highly recommend
A good meal with plenty of fish on the menu, which has not always been our experience this past year.
Great as always....if you love fish, this is the place to come.
We had one of the front window tables which was lovely and cozy. Staff were appropriately attentive and the food was excellent! Loved the skinny fries! Great place for lunch with views to the harbor front and Kingswear.
Absolutely excellent ! So glad we booked as 6 of us would not have got a table ! We all loved our lunch, in fact we said, best Fish and Chips ever ! Staff here are lovely, working so hard but doing a great job. We will be back !
Hi Rockfish. We arrived early as we'd booked for 8pm so can't complain about being seated at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen but wasn't too impressed by the 'banter' between the kitchen staff and serving staff which sounded like an argument at times and also included the occasional f-word that wasn't appropriate for a family restaurant. If you are going to have an open kitchen, I think you need to remind your staff to watch their language. Otherwise, enjoyed the food and friendly attentive service very much. Steve
Absolutely great! The whiting was a dream, and the fish tacos the best tacos we have ever tasted!
Incredible food, i dont take my friends and family (especially boyfriend as he adores rockfish) anywhere else! Being gluten free its hard to find somewhere to eat that’s safe too, but rockfish does the entire menu gluten free and more than safe! The chocolate nemesis dessert is my absolute favourite! Service could be better, but being a busy restaurant i do be patient with the staff who are also very friendly and helpful!
Fabulous meal. The fish was so fresh and delicious.
Great meal as always! Wonder about a couple of additions to the menus fron MTs excellent book?
Sometimes gets a bit noisy and tables are close together. Liked being placed upstairs as a couple.
Thanks Please allow people to quickly submit without leaving a comment. I nearly cancelled my feedback because of this.
Our fish (hake) was fantastic. Salad, which is usually really good, was not quite up to standard. Chips could have been cooked for a bit longer. We frequently go to Rockfish Dartmouth and always enjoy it.
lovely staff, especially in Dartmouth and great concept. salt and pepper prawns still the best, please put back on the menu for people who don't know about them! Please also do t shirts for adults! Would love a way of having an account to make booking easier to do on phone!
Enjoyed my food but thought the fish batter was nt as good as Magpie in whitby ,it was nt crispy enough The batter on the king prawns was completely different and very good
Great atmosphere, attentive staff, food cooked with care and skill. Although the chips are endless (just ask and also offered by waiter) the portions are perfectly sized - not too big so they get cold and not so small you have to get a second portion. We seem to book a table every time we come to the town, a family tradition has been started! Thanks guys!
We have been here many times and are sorry to see a slow but steady decline at Rockfish. We arrived at 1204 and were seated upstairs. There was only one waitress serving four tables of about 28 people. We sat for twelve minutes with nobody coming near us and the children getting tricky. We asked the manager to bring us some drinks. These took another ten minutes to arrive and weren't quite as we had ordered. The waitress helpfully went through every dish that was available. This took time. We know our fish and didn't need this long explanation. We just wanted to order. The first course arrived at 1247 and it was clear that the second course wasn't being prepared until the first course dishes had been cleared. All our fish was perfectly cooked but the chips which are normally special were soggy. After two long hours it was a very disappointing and poor value experience. (And please bring back the Vegetable tempura)
