About Rochelle Canteen at ICA
Rochelle Bar & Canteen at The Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall is now open. The ICA opened in 1947, a space for artists, writers and scientists to debate new ideas. In 2017 Stefan Kalmár of Artists Space, New York took over as director with an exciting new programme of exhibitions, films, talks and events starting at the beginning of October. The building has been stripped back to its former modernist simplicity, with our new bar and canteen to complement it. Rochelle Bar & Canteen will include a daily changing menu reflective of our honest, classic cooking style. The ICA also has two beautiful rooms upstairs overlooking The Mall available to book for events. Ben Coombs is head chef, while Fin Spiteri has designed our drinks list and will be in overall charge of the bar and front of house.
Simple but very tasty food in a casual setting but with professional service
This is a hidden gem right bang in the centre of London. Food of the highest quality with flavours that hit the high notes, atmosphere is perfect and service friendly and efficient.Rochelle Canteen has become a regular haunt of mine.
Great food and lovely place
fantastic food and service
What a delightful experience! The creativity of the menu and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. It made obvious sense, after enjoying every aspect of our meal from appetizers to mains to desserts to cocktails, that your culinary art be showcased in a contemporary art museum. Our server was terrific as well. The only improvement could be to provide a bit more atmosphere (a candle wasn’t placed on our table until the near end of the meal - actually during our coffee) and perhaps some pillows for the seats. But again, the food was fantastic as was the service. We will definitely be back.
Perfect as always!
A really useful facility to know about in a Royal area. A tucked away "canteen" like room but serving excellent freshly cooked food from a small menu. Good wine by the lunch-friendly carafe as well.
Fantastic as ever
we hade a beautifully simple lunch, very good ingredients well prepared.
Lovely as always
This was a nice, friendly place with exellent food in a intresting building.
Excellent food and great service
The food was outstanding. And the atmosphere puts you so at ease you could spend hours working your way through the menu (and wine list).
Great food, great service, great place!!!!
Superb meal all round
Third time here, food is as delicious as always. Fresh ingredients, unpretentious tastes.
Fantastic food and service in a great setting
Service was very slow. Two hours for lunch was too long, especially as we were the first to arrive to an empty restaurant. But everything was delicious!
A really lovely lunch - usual charming service, delicious gazpacho and my guest particularly liked his onglet.
Superb service and delicious, reasonably priced food.
Not a vast choice of main courses. Rather too meat heavy for me but what we ate was delicious.
A difficult one but one more non-meat dish would assist. Your starters and puddings are marvellous but judging from my last two guests they were a tad hesitant when on the mains. I am so okd and overweight that I prefer to do 2 starters . As a non- drinker I appreciate that I threaten the profitability if your marvellous enterprise! K
Such great food everytime, complemented by special wines... it's always a treat to come here!
