At Jordans Mill we pride ourselves on serving outstanding food in a very special location. Our Riverside Café serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks all year round. On a sunny day there’s nothing better than sitting on our terrace watching the world (and the water) go by.
Children are always welcome, with colouring to keep them entertained and a child-friendly menu including a build-your-own lunchbox option and a child-sized cooked breakfast.
Afternoon Tea should be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance with a 50% deposit payable at the time of booking.
Really enjoyed the experience but I felt it was not value for money. We chose the fish cakes which were lovely but was not informed of the portion size wether it was normal or large. £12.99 for two fishcakes and a small side salad was expensive felt £3.00 for a side order of chips small bowl was not worth the money. The food was presented well but the cost has put me off returning.
The food was nice, the chilli was not very spicy but the waitress was great and brought some extra chilli over straight away to help with the heat. The service in general was brilliant and I really appreciated the extra touch of bringing over a cake for my husband’s birthday. Overall it was great!
I booked a table for the "soft opening" today expecting to be slightly disappointed but happy to be a "guinea pig" for 30% off. My friend and I arrived about 10 mins early and there was some initial confusion about where to seat us as our allocated table was still in use however after a couple of minutes we were seated elsewhere and nicely by the window. There seemed to be a lot of staff whether this was in a bid to train them all or not I don't know. Our order was taken quite quickly and for the first time in my life the waiter (Michael) mentioned my severe nut allergy before I did (I'd noted it on the form when I booked but what a refreshing change). Our drinks arrived and food soon followed. We had both chosen roast pork, it came with all the trimmings and aside from cold cabbage the meal was hot, delicious and a great portion size. Extra apple sauce when requested arrived quickly and our waiter checked everything was ok. Clear dishes were cleared quickly without it feeling rushed. We opted to have dessert, Michael had done his homework and told me when he gave me the menu which dessert to avoid. We had lemon tart and spotted sick and custard which was sadly cold in the middle. We weren't rushed to pay or even leave once we had. All in all despite my expectations it was a lovely experience and well worth the money even if we'd paid full price. I had boycotted Jordan's since their last closure and major refurbishment due to 3 bad experiences as well as small overpriced portions. I hope the standard today is maintained, I will be back. Thanks for a lovely lunch it was perfect to sit and have a good natter without getting up and down to order and get things. Special thanks to Michael who made me feel like a valued customer despite my allergy not a nuisance, I've never been treated that way before and it made a refreshing change. Keep it up please.
An excellent lunch with friendly efficient service, but a bit pricey for lunch
Our original table was near a door. This meant that we received a cold rush of air each time the door was opened. The staff helpfully moved us to a table farther away from the door. We were approached by four different waiters who asked to take our order. They were all very friendly and understanding, but it was a little odd. The children’s meal was very generous in portion size. Some of our main course plates were taken away while some of our group were still eating. One waiter asked if we would like our bill just when we had begun eating our dessert. Overall, all the staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. We visited during the soft opening, so I am certain these small settliyin issues are easy to fix. We look forward to visiting again!
We had a really lovely roast dinner with friends and kids on Sunday. As usual the food was great, and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. This was only one of the first days of the new seated service, so we found that we were left alone for extended periods, but I think this is just whilst they’re finding their feet. When they were attending to us the waiters were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Would totally recommend Lovely place 😊
Definitely worth booking ahead as it gets busy. Not surprised as the quality and selection of food is excellent, very good value for money
We loved: - the food and the hot drinks... - we noticed the food was just a little bit better quality than before. - We liked that full English came with a toast this time. - the pancakes were amazing (nice fluffy cream on the top would made it even more “wow”) - we liked that you are using a table service now (so much easier when you have kids!) We would like to see in the future: - sauces on the table - toys for the smaller children (there used to be a corner with few bits and bobs and that really made a huge difference to our two little people)
Much prefer the table service, we will now visit more often, as the is way it was before was the only thing that put us off coming 🥰
Always love coming here for breakfast and the location is beautiful whatever the time of year!
