About Riverside Cafe
Locally sourced, freshly prepared, delicious, seasonal and healthy.
At Jordans Mill we pride ourselves on serving outstanding food in a very special location. Our Riverside Café serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks all year round. On a sunny day there’s nothing better than sitting on our terrace watching the world (and the water) go by.
Children are always welcome, with colouring to keep them entertained and a child-friendly menu including a build-your-own lunchbox option and a child-sized cooked breakfast.
Afternoon Tea should be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance. We will take your card details to secure your place and a 50% charge will be made for any customers failing to cancel the afternoon tea 24 hours in advance.
Lovely meals, great value for money. Attentive service by all staff. Tables in restaurant are well spaced out.
Excellent food and service.
A shame, was one of my favourite places to visit, but i will not be returning, service is shockingly bad, food was still good.
Over-priced food and drink. Poor service.
My one star for service, is no reflection on those who were there, but on the lack of staff. We were a table of six, and waited 30 minutes for a drink. It is mildly acceptable to wait for food, but not drink. The staff who were there were very pleasant.
Breakfast good value for money 3 of us had Eggs royale Very tasty but it could have been hotter. 6 people in total for breakfast
I visited the Riverside Cafe to have lunch with my Mum and Mother in Law forgetting it was a Sunday and so the Sunday roast was on offer. I do like Sunday Roast and my wife and I had one of each to share as we couldn't decide between the chicken or the beef. The meal was fantastic and I managed to upset my Mum, mother-in-law and wife by declaring it the best roast dinner I have ever had. I really need to learn to be less vocal but it really was.
Excellent service Micheal and Milo were Brilliant Will bring friends again
We usually go here for my birthday, and this year it was my 30th and my mum had flown over from Spain especially. The boy that showed us to our table, disregarded my huge 30 badge, asked if we had booked, (which we had) and said "this way." When he took our order, a lady at another table rudely interrupted him, throwing him completely off what he was talking about. The waitress that returned with our food didn't know what the food was, so we said some of the meals weren't ours, when they actually were. She handed me a meal to give to my mum at the other side of the table, instead of walking round. Both the boy and the girl lacked personality and initiative - and a smile. It was a completely different atmosphere to all the previous years we have visited. It wasn't overly busy in there, however the staff were behaving as if they were rushed off their feet, and neglecting basic customer service skills. Although it doesn't help when you have rude customers, like the rude lady that interrupted the waiter. Really uncomfortable environment to be in.
Fantastic! We managed to book a table for 7 new mums and their 8 babies. Staff were lovely, helpful and chatty and the food was delicious- even those on dairy free diets were able to partake in cake! Will definitely be coming back
Lovely relaxing Sunday lunch with the sound of the river as a back drop. Nice to see how much the site has developed since our last visit when the gardens where just being opened.
We booked an afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon for our 1 year anniversary. Thankfully, there was amazing weather so we sat outside enjoying the views. However, we were disappointed with the afternoon tea and thought it was very overpriced for what it was. We were disappointed with the lack of creativity, the lack of food and there being no particular flavours to the afternoon tea.
Breakfast...The staff ok...little harsh, not very customer focused. Restaurant area untidy/dirty. Unacommodating on changing an item on full breakfast. Food was nice though. Coffee 2.30pm outside... we had to clear away a table ourselves, no staff in sight...very messy and unattended. Floor just stroon with rubbish and bits of food. Shame as has potential to be outstanding venue.
Really disappointed with our visit. Beautiful venue. Poor service apart from a young waiter who was pleasant. Other waiter seemed disinterested. Food was mediocre and overpriced for what it was. Food was not as described on menu, sent it back, and it was still not what had been described
Food is hit and miss and on this day was average. Lovely place but food should be better, scrambled eggs were like rubber
We had a lovely time eating at the Riverside Cafe. The food and service were equally good and made the visit pleasant. We did not have time to visit the Mill or do the nature trail as we were there just for a quick lunch with family. It would have been nice to have more connectivity with the MIll in the decor some large posters sharing the history of the Mill, a timeline of change or information on what the Mill does.
Fabulous breakfast great service
The food is very expensive and not much variety. Restaurant is noisy like a school canteen. Now you also charge to visit the mill which was the main reason for coming to you - we won’t be coming anymore.
Having booked, it was irritating to find that no table had been reserved. The staff member was very efficient and pleasant however. It would have been useful to know that you'd run out of salad, a main reason for choosing a jacket. Very tasty potato, but ludicrously expensive. Waiting staff lovely, but no apology for missing salad from clearly stressed and grumpy woman who took my payment.
Please just pay a bit more attention to the tables, long wait for drink order, long wait for bill and even longer wait to pay. Needs to be sharper. Food was good.
Tasty food but pricey. Do you use organic, home grown produce to make it expensive?
"A TOUCH OF CLASS" A Delicious Meal in pleasant settings. Excellent Service and the Food was Superb. Good value for money too.
Lovely meal with friends
Lovely food such good quality and cooked to perfection
