About Riverside Cafe
Locally sourced, freshly prepared, delicious, seasonal and healthy.
At Jordans Mill we pride ourselves on serving outstanding food in a very special location. Our Riverside Café serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks all year round. On a sunny day there’s nothing better than sitting on our terrace watching the world (and the water) go by.
Children are always welcome, with colouring to keep them entertained and a child-friendly menu including a build-your-own lunchbox option and a child-sized cooked breakfast.
Afternoon Tea should be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance. We will take your card details to secure your place and a 50% charge will be made for any customers failing to cancel the afternoon tea 24 hours in advance.
I'm not that fond of the new layout. It's still the sme cafe style building but now has waitress service, wait to be seated service. We had breakfast which was fine. We had booked but was quiet enough not to have ( I suspect when the roadworks affecting access are sorted it will be much busier). The lunch menu is all meals, no jacket pots etc. Drinks and sandwiches are available from the other end still but the tables are separated out, inside and outside. Be interesting to see how this works when the weather picks up and more people want to just have a drink and sit on the decking. The staff didn't seem to be great fans of the arrangements either if conversations overheard on a couple of visits were anything to go by.
I arranged an afternoon tea party here for my sister's hen and all the staff were amazingly helpful. The manager was quick to respond in detail to my emails and was very accommodating to my requests. We rented the ivel room upstairs and was allowed to decorate to my desire. As for the afternoon tea, the waitresses were absolutely amazing and came up to check if we needed drinks topping up or any extras bringing up. The food was delicious and I will definitely be coming back!
We had the afternoon Tea experience I think you need to work on the presentation Would suggest that you exchange the mini rolls for actual sandwiches The fillings were ok and the cakes pleasant Clotted cream in a plastic container ,impacts on experience The setting is very nice staff pleasant .Hope this helps
A lovely location to meet up with family or friends with the combination of cafe & restaurant and the Mill + gardens.
We had a lovely time & the staff were friendly & helpful. Food arrived promptly & was very delicious!
Lovely location despite the weather. Good, helpful service, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Unfortunately though we were keen to order to scotch egg, but it was not available. Would happily go there again with the family.
Lovely lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and a very personal service. Thank you! Jackie and Malcolm
A lovely, relaxing setting for Sunday Brunch. Staff very attentive and friendly and food was delicious!
Really bad service - such a shame, as previously was great (when not table service) - very slow
The service was very pleasant though rather slow to start with. The food was very good. It was rather noisy and as we were a table of 6 conversation was hindered. However, we’d go again as overall it was very nice. It’s a beautiful setting with the river and walks. The shop is also well worth a visit
Lovely Sunday lunch and great service, look forward to returning in the Spring & Summer when more of the flowers and wildlife are back. Only negative point is that menu was restrictive with Sunday Roast and vegetarian options only, that said the Pork Roast was lovely.....
A wonderful Valentines meal. Great food and atmosphere. Loved the saxophonist. Friendly staff
A lovely relaxing experience. Thank you.
More children's breakfast options on the menu would be appreciated like a smaller portion of pancakes or porridge etc. Also when I spoke to someone on the phone it would have been helpful if they mentioned the road being closed.
The only reason for the lower score for atmosphere is that the acoustics can make it rather noisy although we think that the more formal booking system may have made it a little quieter. We usually have the Sunday roast but this week I had the curry dish which was very tasty. Your weekday specials are some of my favourites.
Thoroughly enjoyable, as always!
Always a pleasure to visit Jordan’s Mill - my one suggestion would be to have waiters/waitresses to be assigned to set tables - this would stop several of them Coming over to take your order.
Our waitress was more than helpful with my little boys allergies. Really friendly and lovely
There’s not a huge amount of choice on the menu and the dishes that are there are overpriced for what they are. Nicely presented and obviously good quality food but rather expensive for a lunch.
Very disappointed with service and food, even though not many people in we had to wait some time for our order to be taken and then an age for our drinks . Food was not up to usual high standard especially considering how much it cost us.
It was our first visit here. We loved the setting and were happy with the menus and prices. The food was as good as expected. I have only rated the service as three stars simply because the young staff, although always friendly, willing and polite, seemed forgetful or perhaps not well organised. More than one attended to our table at different times during our meal and perhaps had failed to communicate with each other. We had to ask twice for a high chair and a jug of water and two of the other drinks ordered failed to be delivered to our table with our meal, which meant one of our party having to go to the serving hatch to remind them that these had not been brought. To be fair, we were then not charged for these two items, so we felt adequately compensated, although somewhat disappointed for an otherwise good experience.
First class service from the lovely Heather!
Low scores due to being very cold in restaurant.
Everything was fine but it was so cold in there
We had a really delicious lunch from the Sunday menu. The service was excellent and the staff were lovely. Very impressed.
