About Rick Stein Winchester
Rick Stein’s restaurant in Winchester, Hampshire was our first to open outside of Cornwall. With a nod towards our coastal heritage, this restaurant brings the freshest fish, simply cooked to Winchester. There’s a delicious a la carte dinner menu, and a set menu option for lunch: the perfect place to eat in Winchester or Hampshire. Our seafood restaurant is just a short train ride from London, situated on Winchester high street.
Amazing service. Amazingly presented and delicious food
Very pleasant and relaxed ambiance, with good food and generous portions.
Its my favourite place to eat.....love atmosphere...very stylish ..staff attentive but not over the top and the food and wine is always fantastic
First visit for a birthday celebration with my daughter; delighted to find the small bar area (with barstools!) where we could peruse the menu. The staff were very friendly and welcoming without a suggestion of being overbearing, which suits me just fine. I was a little disappointed with the appetisers of Andalucian fritters, expecting far more flavour from brown shrimps and spring onion than was delivered here. A small dish of marinated black olives was standard fare, so felt over-priced. For both of us, the highpoint of the meal came with the starters, daughter having two, crab linguine and salt & pepper prawns - the latter served shell-on - and the fish soup for me, which proved a complete understatement for the explosion of flavour that this brought. I opted for roasted turbot which in retrospect was not the best move since the undoubted delicacy of this subtle-flavoured fish was overshadowed by the preceding soup although it was fresh, radiantly white and a good-sized portion, too. By the time I had finished it and a couple of delicious, perfectly cooked new potatoes, I was almost unable to move. Daughter opted for fish & chips (attracted mostly by the word 'chips') and pronounced herself delighted, although next time, I'm sure she'd go for the main course portion of the linguine, which she adored. For drinks, tee-total daughter had elderflower cordial; I opted for draught Sharp's Pilsner, being very pleasantly surprised by the very first mouthful and it proved an excellent companion to the fish, (choosing not to venture onto the wine list, desperate to avoid the siren call of the Puligny Montrachet). The entire bill, including an un-imposed, entirely voluntary tip, came to £111.80 which was under my budget & left me well-disposed to coming up with an excuse to visit again.
Food was excellent BUT the new chairs are very uncomfortable. No back support at all and we all had to request cushions. The staff were very helpful and I suspect we are not the only ones complaining about the chairs! Please change them back!!!
Fantastic service. Beautiful food. 5 stars
Lovely lunch, great service and food 😊
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed the food and the service was fantastic. Staff even helped us with directions and tips on places to visit after we had lunch. I would definitely recommend. Thank you.
Exc first and main course but the desserts were a bit of a let down. Good atmosphere and service.
Lovely food - good service - highly recommended

Very enjoyable experience, food & service first class. I would recommend this to anyone
Delightful evening, faultless service and wonderful food. Ideal for special occasions or just to treat yourselves.
All you would want for a special event.
Thoroughly enjoyed lunch. Wish we could have stayed for dinner!
Staff are really welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious.
Long lazy lunch with great food as you would expect. Highly recommend
Mouthwatering in prospect; mouthwatering in retrospect.
A frequent lunch venue when in Winchester, not the cheapest but amongst the best. Certainly the only choice if one wants a fish dish!
Great evening as always!
We visited on Sunday evening and it was relatively quiet. We shared the oyster platter and they were delicious. The seafood ragout was fantastic particularly the mussels which were very fat and juicy. Service was very good and the staff friendly and efficient. We shall return for the moules and frites!
Best meal we’ve ever had.. staff were amazing.. good was as good as we expected perfect birthday treat
We had the set menu for lunch with a bottle of the recommended Chablis and really enjoyed ourselves.
Very good food and value for money on the set menu
