About Rick Stein Winchester
Rick Stein, Winchester, Hampshire was our first restaurant to open outside of Cornwall. With a nod towards our coastal heritage, this restaurant brings the freshest fish, simply cooked to the high street Winchester. On our menus there’s something for everyone and every occasion, from leisurely lunches with friends to a romantic dinner and everything in between. Stop by for light bite from our new bar menu, perfect for a quick something after work or before an afternoon of shopping – available at lunch and dinner until 6.30pm.
Service was good, atmosphere wonderful, bathrooms clean and everything in place. We had braised pork belly and the sublime Indonesian fish curry. Fantastic. The one disappointment was the home-bakes sourdough walnut bread. It was under-baked with a few slices actually having patches of uncooked dough. We thought it was a real shame, but we didn’t complain as we understand that these things happen sometimes. I would not hesitate to return, even though I’ll never order bread again, - that fish curry was honestly the best fish curry I’ve ever tasted!
Great service by knowledgeable friendly staff. Food was very good. Personally I thought that the Arancini di riso had too much Saffron. my main course of a whole crab in a curry sauce was absolutely delicious- but it took me two days to get the smell out of my hands. Great meal would go again.
We have been a couple of times here, but on this occasion it was my daughters 18th, so,we brought friends who have never been. As always everything was excellent and they made my daughter feel special. Our friends were so impressed, they are planning to return for their elder mothers birthday. We will of course be returning in the future
Nice, friendly service. Good sized tables for couples. Very good value for money fixed price menu too!
Me and my boyfriend had the loveliest time celebrating his birthday. The food was amazing, well priced and was just as tasty as we expected! The service was really timely and all of the waiting staff were polite and attentive. I made a note when reserving that it was my boyfriends birthday and we were surprised with a mini dessert which was very thoughtful and unexpected! We will be visiting again for sure, the experience was faultless!
We have dined at the restaurant on several occasions and always enjoyed it. However, on this occasion the food was exceptional. Every course was delicious and the service, on a busy Sunday lunchtime was faultless. We have been lucky enough to eat at some wonderful restaurants around the world and this was right up there with the best. Thank you.
Super restaurant run by a really good team. The food was delicious
as always a very good experience
Really nice menu choices and our waiter Alisdair deserves credit, he was very good and will be a star I’m sure for the restaurant
Great menu food and staff were aa.azing a lovely atmosphere and the place itself was very well laid out.I really would recommend this to anyone who loves fine dining.
Excellent service, in general all dishes were excellent. The turbot was a disappointment, it was quite tough and rubbery and clung to the bone. Bit pricey. Pleasant evening
The food was amazing, but I would say your most valuable asset is the staff. Our waiter ‘Ali’ was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional as were the rest of the team we came into contact with. The cocktails were great and general ambiance was lovely. Will definitely return.
This was a wedding anniversary lunch and was TRULY OUTSTANDING - as it has been every time we have come to RS @ Winchester. The food and waitress were both quite outstanding. The meal will live long in our memories. Thanks PS the Seafood gratin that featured in the TV show was totally delicious.
We had a 7 year old with us and the staff went out of their way to make her fell welcome. Though we had not told the staff that it was a birthday meal for my husband they they picked this up and brought out a decorated plate of brownies
Friendly professional service. Food was great
Shellfish soup and Thai cake starters both excellent, Ragout really good too. Hake & shellfish dish OK, but only just. This latter dish did not compare that well with the similar dish that Rick Stein demonstrated in France in his latest TV program which looked to be so much better. The good thing about this restaurant was that the 175ml glasses of wine were 25% of the cost of a full bottle, so much fairer than many other restaurants who put a hefty markup on glass measures. The French Sauv Blanc was very good too. Service just a little bit slow, we clearly ended up with the least efficient waiter.
My daughter & I enjoyed a wonderful, celebratory lunch. Spent rather more than anticipated but definitely my favourite place to eat in Winchester.
Great Staff; special service' good food, memorable lunch
Quiet night but great service. Unsurprisingly food came our quickly. Fabulous gremolata prawn and mussels starter followed by delicious rib eye and green beans and hispi cabbage. Ordered Rick's own Spainish white wind which is well priced and delicious.
Really good food and service. Very enjoyable evening. I’ll definitely be back!
warm reception, food ate fresh, tasty and good portion.
The service was fantastic. Bright, witty really great. Thank you
Everything from start to finish was amazing, My wife was not keen on her original drink but it was rectified immediately with no fuss.
Excellent lunch meeting- starting with delicious G & T’s and a great lunch. We had lots to talk about and the staff were very attentive and efficient! The open sided kitchen adds an interesting dimension to the room - and the smiley hard-working crew produced us a delicious meal. This venue is an ideal rendezvous for us travelling up from the South Coast to meet those from London and the Home counties!
