About Rick Stein Sandbanks
With views across the water you can enjoy a casual lunch with classic dishes such as fish and chips and moules marinière, alongside seafood dishes including Dover sole meunière, turbot hollandaise and fruits de mer.
Great food and excellent service again. What was interesting is when a customer came in who had money. At least four people from management came over to speak to him and shake his hand. Couldn’t do enough for him. His money is the same as ours and I come here a lot. Interesting the different level of service you get. You guys don’t know us from Adam. Just because we don’t make it obvious!! Very strange and pretentious behaviour.
My boyfriend had an amazing meal that both looked and tasted fantastic. However both of my courses were very bland, my main course especially which was the monkfish tail, there was no seasoning at all and so lacked the wow factor that I expected. A shame because the last time I went it was amazing. Also the fact it’s so expensive you’d want to taste it. Service was perfect and cannot fault the staff in their attentiveness or knowledge of their food.
Nice food but was hungry not too long after and good service lovely scenery
Great food very friendly staff
The staff were very good and most of the food was great. I think there was a problem in the kitchen. Two courses shouldn’t take over two hours and after a very long wait my main was cold. It was nearly a lovely lunch. In the end disappointing. We did get a free bottle of wine but the money isn’t the point. I wanted to pay for a memorable lunch to celibate some exam results.
Absolutely wonderful lunch. The XO clams were simply stunning and the Sri Lankan Curry was beautifully smooth and velvety. Wonderful staff, so friendly and welcoming. Recommend highly.
We had to wait for table and only realised it was ready when we enquirers after 30 mins however enjoyed a cocktail in the bar. All enjoyed the food with the exception of the fish pie which was in shallow dish and therefore rather dry. Due to wait for table we were told that a bottle of wine would be taken from the bill but the next day we realised it hadn’t! All in all a good experience with those exceptions.
We were well looked after. A great lunchtime experience.
The chilli crab was certainly messy - they weren’t kidding!
Fantastic evening with my family. Excellent service and food.
We booked to enjoy the chilli crab as advertised in the newsletter we received only to be told after being asked what we would like for mains that they are not on the menu? Our waiter’s English was poor and several misunderstandings had to be cleared up with repeating and explaining until understood-quite tiring.
Adjusted our booking at our request when we arrived early. Food and service were excellent. A very enjoyable experience.
Excellent in every way.
Top notch restaurant with terrific views
The restaurant was busy and the service slick, well trained and polished. The maitre’d was efficient. The food was excellent and arrived well presented and in a timely fashion. The area assigned for smokers facing the water was not very tidy and needs additional ashtrays providing and someone needs to make sure this area is kept clean and tidy. The wooden flooring in the restaurant provides a loud environment and lacks the cosy hush of carpeting. The atmosphere does not feel as deluxe as the previous incarnation of this restaurant as cafe shore.
Great food as always, service particularly good on this visit. We enjoyed a very relaxed afternoon with you. Thank you :-)
A beautiful restaurant with amazing food md fantastic helpful staff. We travelled from New Zealand and have always lived watching Rick Stein so it was great to be able to have a meal at one of his restaurants. We were not disappointed hopefully we can come back one day!
An enjoyable evening , good food service and atmosphere
Fabulous lunch, food was delicious and our waitress was wonderful. We will definitely be coming back !
Took 2 Aussie friend to lunch.. Great food. The Aussie was impressed with the wine list and chose a fantastic Oz Chardonnay. Perfect table looking over the harbour. All adds up to a memorab le afternoon. Thank you. PS The Aussie thought the Brownsea oysters were amongst the best he’d eaten around the world #LocalProduceFirst
Always great to eat here, staff are lovely and obviously well trained, food delicious
Excellent food, service & atmosphere with a great view from the upper floor restaurant over looking the bay
A disappointing visit this time as the food was not up to its usual high standard. Our starters of squid with pork were OK but a bit underwhelming & portions were too big. Better quality and smaller portions would have been better. Our fish has always been excellent on previous visits but my ray and my wife's sea bream were both overcooked, our fries were chewey shards and the hispi cabbage was just that - boiled cabbage. Positives were the bread and butter and the plum tart. Service was generally good but no one checked to see if we were happy with our meal until we had finished. We should have sent the fish back and that was our mistake but when we did complain our bottle of wine was taken off the bill which was a nice gesture but We would have preferred to pay for the wine and have our usual excellent lunch. The really annoying thing is that the kitchen would have known that our fish was overcooked and they still sent it out.
A lovely evening slightly let down by the pric eand quality of the wine - Rick Stein's White Burgundy
Asked for a great table and got one - food excellent as ever
