About Rick Stein Sandbanks
With views across the water you can enjoy a casual lunch with classic dishes such as fish and chips and moules marinière, alongside seafood dishes including Dover sole meunière, turbot hollandaise and fruits de mer.
We have been before and this time brought friends who hadn't and you didn't let us down. We all throughly enjoyed our lunch and will be back again.
We had a lovely birthday meal
I booked a table for 4 for my partners 40th and was the first time of visiting Rick Stein in Sandbanks. The staff were very friendly and mine and my partners food was very good. However, my friend in the party is a strict Vegan, which I mentioned when booking in advance, and again on the morning I checked the booking details by staff. On the evening we were greeted by the staff at reception as having a Vegan in our party, and receiving a Vegan menu which was a great start, this recognition unfortunately didn’t continue... The side dish to her main meal (also mentioned on the Vegan menu) contained cream!! which we were totally unaware of. Not only did this visibly upset my guest from eating it, as it was my partners 40th she did not want to make a fuss and chose to leave the rest of her meal. I was upset that she has eaten it when reassured it was the vegan menu. It was only confirmed when questioning the waiter from suspicion, that this was indeed NOT suitable for Vegans! Although our Vegan is strict through choice, it’s very concerning that she could have actually had a severe allergy like many people I know (that was never even questioned). This mistake could have potentially been very serious. Although the staff agreed not to charge for her meal (that she half left), and some wine, this hardly compensates for someone that has lived as a strict Vegan for many years. Sadly disappointing!
Only one little hiccup in service. It took 2 waiters to get toast and orange juice to our table after all our other items were delivered as ordered.
Great food and service for a special occasion. Interesting people watching!
Was quiet and staff were not thier usual standard. It took 15mins to get out table and waited ages to pay Also was shocked to see two kitchen staff eating in the kitchen.
We tried the 3 course charity lunch in January. Fabulous location, excellent service. The food, while good, reflected the special pricing of the set meal. Also choice was restricted as only 2 of the 3 mains options were available. Food quality and hence overall enjoyment could have been improved by offering just 2 courses for the same price.
Good level of staff service but disappointing quality of food left us under-whelmed.
We really enjoyed our meal here- if anything the service was a little too attentive, perhaps in a gentle effort to make sure our table would be free again later? We liked the " wine by the carafe" option. It was quite noisy with family groups including small children close by- whilst its nice to be able to include them it might be nice to have an area where couples might dine in a slightly quieter environment- just a thought. Very nice though:)
Birthday lunch, thoroughly enjoyed
A lovely evening. Considering how busy they were the staff were very attentive and it wasn't loud (Mother In Law forgot her hearing aids but could still hear us around the table). Definitely worth getting a sea view, will be better with the lighter evenings. Everyone tried something new and were pleased with their choices. Thank you
Another excellent evening at Rick Stein Sandbanks. The food & service are both excellent
Thank you for making my BIG birthday truly memorable The food was heavenly and nothing was too much trouble for your delightful staff Everyone loved it
Delicious food and wine. Service was prompt and friendly. The sashimi starter melted in the mouth.
A superb meal and equally good service.
Loved the venue and the great service, great lunch
1st class dinner and service
Food temperature was very variable. Some dishes were piping hot , others only luke warm Disappointing considering the price of the meals Service was excellent
We really enjoyed our meal, but the one thing that is off-putting is the price of wine. It’s difficult to understand why it has to be so pricey. That said we will come again because the food and imaginative menu is so appealing.
Great as always
Loved our lunch with you, friendly helpful staff. We had the 3 course charity menu which was excellent value. My only slight disappointment was the Fish Gratin only contained two prawns and was too much potato ratio to fish. Other than that all excellent
Excellent all round can’t fault the place.
Outstanding service, and delicious food. Always a winner. Always our first choice. If you had rooms like The Seafood Restaurant, I'd be staying aswell.......and I only live 10 miles away, across the ferry.
I was one of June Heads party. I can honestly say the whole experience was wonderful. I do not eat fish and so have not visited before but the choice of alternative food was good. I found the atmosphere, the layout, the service, the staff all real ‘fine’ dining. Very rare these days to get this type of atmosphere. Only thing I’d like to say the curry that was on offer was really very very spicy although the waiter did inform us that it was mild!!
Could not recommend this restaurant at all. The food was wishy washy and tasteless. Staff not concerned about it, no apology offered. Had booked for another date which we will cancel! Rick Stein cannot surely endorse this performance. Bob
