About Rick Stein Marlborough
Located at Lloran House on the high street in Marlborough, guests can enjoy some of Rick’s most iconic dishes such as the Dover sole a la meunière and turbot hollandaise as well as a selection of new dishes from his Mexican adventure, including battered mackerel with mayonnaise, chilli sauce and lime and ceviche of sea bass and prawns.
Alongside the main lunch and dinner menu, we also offer a set menu available for lunch and early dinner, Sunday to Friday.
Service wasn’t great. Waited 45 mins + for starter after ordering it. The milk chocolate and rose cream dessert was gorgeous!
It was easy to book, service was friendly and excellent and the food was great. It was a wedding anniversary celebration and we were very happy with the experience.
Okay, I've held back on my assessment of the restaurant for too long in the hope that it would get better, however the service and experience is miles apart from what it was when you first opened and even further apart from The Seafood where I enjoyed a brilliant meal recently. This was a business lunch and it was spectacularly underwhelming. The meet and greet was friendly enough, however as our party size was 3 instead of 4 she went to adjust the table and said would we like to get a drink at the bar. The lad behind the bar looked petrified and very awkward. I had to ask if we could order drinks whilst he was shuffling around behind the bar. 3 orange juice and lemonade shouldn't have been a hard task. When we went to the table, the speed of taking our orders was slow. The wine glasses had loads of water marks down them - I'd expect that in Pizza Express not Rick Steins. The food as ever was very good and that is generally very consistent. You've clearly got a very high staff turnover in this restaurant and the wow factor has long faded. Staff aren't natural apart from some of the long serving staff who were friendly. The young blonde haired lad had zero personality and shuffled to the table with the bread and no charisma - his apron would benefit from being ironed as well. I'm really sorry to leave this feedback, however if I'm honest this hasn't been right the last few times I've attended the restaurant, hence resisted giving feedback apart from expressing it to some of the staff when I've left. Really not sure I'd be in a rush to come back with business clients as really underwhelming. Please please please get back to how it was when you opened and everyone was bang on it.
I came to the restaurant as part of therapy I am in recovery from an eating disorder and am a patient at a local eating disorder unit. This meal was a huge challenge for me and a step in the road to recovery, and what a way to do it. The atmosphere was calm which helped me a lot, the menu was fantastic and the food was delicious. This meal meant a lot to me, thankyou
Very slow to take an order for drinks. Even slower to take our meal order. An unfortunate incident when the waitress dropped the tray resulting in one of our party wearing one of the drinks - an accident - however it did add to the overall disappointing experience. We were a large table of 8. The lobster was over cooked, the sole was dry, one of the cod dishes smelled off and the replacement was not much better ( another in our party had the cod and it looked, smelled and tasted fine as a comparison) the fish curry and the roast vegetable mains were excellent. Coming from New Zealand and being avid followers of Rick Stein’s tv programmes, we felt let down by this visit given that we had diverted from our itinerary just to enjoy a meal here.
First time in your Restaurant & will definitely be back. First class service & the food was amazing.
Calum, the supervisor is an asset to the restaurant. He greeted us with a warm welcome, was knowledgeable about the menu had a good sense of humour and even showed us how to eat the oysters we ordered. We have been celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary this week by eating out each day at a restaurant. This was by far the best experience and we are looking forward to returning soon. We would like to thank Calum and the chefs.
The lobster was excellent was let down by potatoes being overdone
As always, a great treat and superb value if like us you choose the set menu. You would be pushed to find anywhere offering the same price for much worse quality! Thank you Rick and Co.
Set menu was very good value. Service was mellow and relaxed so I didn’t feel rushed.
Great meal. Excellent service. Many thanks
Lobster and Chips messy but magnificent - glass of Sauvignon Blanc ( I chose the NZ one) was disappointing. Atmosphere fine but tables too close together - private conversation impossible. Service excellent by young blond girl.
Excellent all round. Good to have the option of fixed price menu. Very good service
Great experience, no faults
Both food & service was fantastic. Last minute decision to see if we could get a table, luckily there was one!
2nd visit and after a poor experience the first time this visit was much improved, really nice evening, food was very good and service first class. We will return
The food was simply delicious - turbot sublime! As I can't drink currently our waitress suggested a mocktail elderflower mojito - it's my new favourite drink so will have to come back soon to try it again. Staff were great x
Lunch was close to the bar so it was a busy bustling area not as conducive to enjoying a nice quiet lunch as I would have liked. I also was not keen on being told exactly when I had to leave the table immediately on booking
Good quality food and a nice atmosphere, service was a little slow and I thought it was expensive. I had the lobster which should have a lot of source, but was limited. They brought out the wrong dish for my wife, so there was a 15 minute wait, they did cross this off the bill, which they offered, which was good.
We visited for the first time for lunch and found the food delicious and good value for money. The only thing that let our experience down was that there was little ambeonce and the staff were not very engaging, we had to ask for coffee and bill twice even though the restaurant was not busy. Would go back again and recommend to friends despite this.
