About Rick Stein Marlborough
Located at Lloran House on the high street in Marlborough, guests can enjoy some of Rick’s most iconic dishes such as the Dover sole a la meunière and turbot hollandaise as well as a selection of new dishes from his Mexican adventure, including battered mackerel with mayonnaise, chilli sauce and lime and ceviche of sea bass and prawns.
Alongside the main lunch and dinner menu, we also offer a set menu available for lunch and early dinner, Sunday to Friday.
Good service and food as always.
A brilliant evening. Our first 'supper club' and it certainly will not be the last! Our table was well put together, slow to begin with but by the end I was kissing the lady next to me goodbye! (and it wasn't my wife!) The menu was delightful and the wine - which kept flowing - delicious. No surprises really, after all this took place in a Rick Stein establishment.
Lemon sole priced £24.95. Looked a bit pasty, washed out, no colour on the white plate. Needed a bit of livening up! Tasted fine but not special.
My comments reflect the views of all four people in the group. The staff were friendly but the waitress, who told us she had only been there two weeks, seemed to lack the level of training we would have expected for such a restaurant. The building was pleasant but we went for the food which proved disappointingly mediocre. The Fish and Shellfish soup was more like a bisque as it was completely blended. The Indonesian Fish Curry was so spicy that the fish could not be tasted and it had to be sent back as it was tepid. The Turkey was bland and was served with fatty stringy skin still attached. Minted peas had no taste of mint. Two guests had Christmas Pudding with Brandy Butter Sauce and were shocked to find it served cold. Rick Stein himself describes his sauce as hard, only softening when it meets the hot Christmas Pudding. No chance of this experience on Monday. Whilst eating dessert the Maitre D sidled up and without a word reached between two guests and snatched the pepper and salt off the table. Strange sort of Fawlty Towers behaviour.
we weren't rushed at all and enjoyed the set menu - the roast root vegetable main course was wonderful
This was a courtesy visit as we had been sadly let down by a previous visit to The Cornish Arms, Marlborough was excellent as usual, so not really a proper review.
Fantastic food and exemplary service. First time time visit and we will be back. The Happy Birthday plate was a lovely touch. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.
Fabulous food. Fabulous place. Stunning waitress. I will definitely be back.
An excellent meal. Not our first visit nor hopefully our last. We really enjoyed being there.
We came for my friend's birthday as it was his dream to come. He loved everything and we were not disappointed at all, on top of it being my second visit. What a very perfect restaurant! Thank you so much.
My cousins and myself had a most enjoyable experience and they were hugely impressed. Our food was superb and could not be faulted.. I have been to the restaurant on two previous occasions and knew I was in "safe hands". On a personal note, I was very appreciative of the birthday plate which was brought to our table as I was actually celebrating my birthday of the 2nd December and remember being asked if it was a special occasion when I made the booking. A lovely touch - thank you. I will certainly be returning and I hope they will too. Thank you once again for giving us a fabulous afternoon.

very enjoyable evenng
Over-priced very disappointing food. Starter okish but boring. My wife’s side order of vegetables was forgotten and when asked for arrived halfway through her main course. My Malaysian curry drowned the fish and was red hot; I specifically asked if it was subtle so that I could enjoy the delicate fish. The curry sauce was no better than out of a supermarket jar. Hello and hot. In other words curry powder and cream. No attemp to cater for those who don’t drink alcohol. No non-alcoholic wine or gin substitutes [eg Seedlip]. Just one average lager. We were so disappointed we didn’t stay for pudding or coffee. Bill still came to over £80 with no wine. You need to sort your act out Mr Stein.
Excellent meal and service
This was a 2nd visit, the first being to celebrate my father in laws 80th birthday, after completing feedback then stating we were disappointed that his birthday had not been mentioned at the table or any little gesture of a happy birthday. This time we were celebrating my 50th birthday with my parents in law again, no happy birthday or congratulations of any kind. When you are spending a lot of money and celebrating something special, you want to feel the experience was special and for the second time no effort was made at all, I would have expected some kind of acknowledgment for a special birthday, having driven on a 2 hour journey to get there. Disappointed having given it a second chance, unfortunately, we shall not be returning,
We had a very nice evening. The food was great and the staff were helpful and attentive.
I was hit in the head by a waiter carrying a chair! Unbelievable to imagine that I should be sitting eating my meal and receive a blow to the head. Yes, apologies were offered and the 'accident' recorded. However, I didn't expect to leave the restaurant with a headache. Obviously, the meal and the experience were ruined. On top of which we (my wife and I) were charged for the meal and the experience. Quite unbelievable poor quality service.
My husband and I frequent this restaurant quite a lot, and have made ourselves known to the staff. The staff and other members of the team are amazing and deliver a most wonderful service to us and I’m sure to the other customers who comes through the door. Well done all of you and keep up the great work you do.
Great ambience, fab decor really great staff food impeccable. We’re coming back soon!! Thank you for such a lovely lunch
We had mackerel and bacon salad and the civiiche but found it disappointing Poor presentation not good value
great every thing that I expected from the Rick stein empire.
Never disappoints. Good service and delicious food.
