About Rick Stein Barnes
On the menu here in Barnes are some Rick’s most iconic dishes such as Dover sole à la meunière, Indonesian seafood curry and hot shellfish platter. Alongside the main lunch and dinner menu, we also offer a set lunch menu, available Monday to Friday. Our seafood bar is a great place to sit and watch chefs assembling platters of oysters, langoustines crab and sashimi – our team love sharing their knowledge with diners, so feel free to ask questions.
As always the people working there are all lovely, helpful and attentive. It was great to see Rick Stein do a Charity lunch for St Barnabas House. The meal was very good value and for a great cause. Thank you!
Had a lovely lunch , with a river side table , great staff and a lovely touch of happy birthday chocolates x didn’t think much of the salt and pepper squid 🦑, but fabulous Crab Linguine x and lovely fudge with coffee . I have been a beauty therapist for 28 years and must say the hand soap and hand cream was one of the best I have ever used , where can I buy it
Absolutely delicious lunch and great value. Plus you were supporting such a great charity - The house of St Barnabas. Bravo!
The food was very good, the chef was happy to exclude an ingredient I am intolerant to and the set three course price was very reasonable. The service was good, the staff were friendly and happy to engage. As a local resident it was nice to find the restaurant atmosphere felt less 'destination venue' than on previous occasions. Keep it up Rick Stein
We had such a lovely lunch served by great staff. Thank you
Lovely restaurant by The Thames
Delicious food and good house wines. We had a table by the window. The service was excellent - unobtrusive but attentive. We weren’t hurried. The charity lunch is very good value whilst supporting a good cause.
Try as I might, I can't think of anything to fault in our experience yesterday. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, with lovely views of the river, a spacious feel enhanced by the ceiling greenery and no intrusive background noise, while the staff were welcoming and attentive without being pushy. The set lunch was perfectly balanced: a light, tangy soup prepared the palate for a delicious seafood gratin which looked modestly sized in its scalloped dish but proved deceptively substantial, and the desserts - which we shared - were sumptuous. Evan provided stellar service: there were no lengthy waits between courses, and he took particular care to ensure that we chose just the right wine to complement the food. The value for money was exceptional, and we were happy to contribute to the chosen charity. As a final touch, the beautifully decorated dish of chocolates at the end of the meal in recognition of a special event was both charming and discreet.
The staff were kind enough to change one of our starters as it was found to be too spicy with chilli for our guest but as two of the three special lunch starters were spicy, it was difficult to avoid for a non-meat eater. But having said that, the rest of the food was excellent, especially the apple tart tatin. The seat by the window looking overt the river is much appreciated. We will come again even though we live out of London. Another of us felt that the mango ice cream didn't go with black rice pudding but a personal view. The staff are friendly enough for to feel you can make these comments, which is good.
Came for breakfast on Sunday and loved it.
Really enjoyed ourselves - first time back at that location since it was the Depot.
We came to enjoy the fish and seafood and we were nit disappointed
Food, atmosphere and place were excellent. Would definitely return for a special occasion. Service was great and with a smile.:) We were well taken care of. Thank you.
Our waiter was so friendly which was great. I mentioned it was a birthday when I made the booking and the dessert had a birthday message which was really appreciated.
As always an excellent meal, service very attentive
I came here yesterday with my family and the food was delicious, and the staff very attentive and polite. I would recommend this restaurant.
Always a pleasure eating here, staff are extremely helpful and polite. Food is delicious and fresh. Great views of the river too. Definitely recommend a visit!
Superb food. The service was great and although we were there up to the two hours allowed for the table we were not being rushed to get out!
Really enjoyed my first experience at Rick Steins. The food was so delicious and we had a great evening. Particular thanks to the maitre d.
The Fish was cooked well but the basics weren't. The chips were undercooked and very greasy, the green salad was over seasoned and the mushy peas were dry. Overall, the atmosphere was perfect, calm and quiet but the food for us let it down. If they can master the basics and pair it up with the fantastic cooking of the fish, it would be close to perfect.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We were impressed that the waitress had tasted all the dishes and had an opinion on them. Sadly half the food was Luke warm/cold (chips, rice, sole) and the lemon sole didn’t taste fresh - it had an unpleasant fishy taste. The seafood curry however couldn’t have been better. It was a bit cold near the window but the table was lovely otherwise. The wine was good value too. We were touched that the manager took our mains off the bill to make up for the cold food and the wait for hot replacements. We’ll try again another time.
Delicious food, great service would reccommend
Great value charity lunch with imaginative dishes including v good seafood gratin and tarte tatin. Immaculate service from all and convivial atmosphere on a beautiful sunny day. All in all top notch
