About Retreat Adlington
Serving a collaboration of traditional classic meals and modern cuisine, coupled with our unique specials menu, Retreat offers something for every palate.
Becca, our server, was extremely attentive and welcoming! Lovely meal, made even lovelier by such an amazing waitress!
Good choices on the set menu but it had no vegetarian Options.
We had a wonderful evening and the food was beautiful.
Very disappointing meal. Our table was booked for 7pm on arrival we were taken to our table and a nice young man came with the menus and took our drinks order. We waited a while before anyone came to take our foid order. We ordered a cheese garlic bread to share when it came it was burnt and dry as a bone we left half if it. When the waiter came to clear it away he asked if everything was ok and advised him about the garlic bread he said he would tell the chef. We then waited until 8.45pm before our main courses arrived which was approximately an hour for 2 Caesar salads and 1 fish and chips. The young male waiter was very polite and apologetic but the wait was far too long. The retreat at Bolton can run rings round the Adlington restaurant.
We have visited many times before. Even though we really liked the new menu the food was not at the same standard as when previously visited. My skewer had to go back as not cooked as requested and the Sunday roast was fatty and very chewy. Service was helpful but very slow.
Not what I expected, after eating a few times at retreat Bolton. Was expecting the wow factor, but didn’t get it.
Would have given 5 stars for food based on starters and mains which were superb. Unfortunately the desserts disappointed in comparison. That said, we had a fun evening with good service and enjoy the lively atmosphere
The food was excellent, but the drinks are far to expensive, nearly £10 for a pint of Lager and Malibu n Lemonade is not good I'm afraid, got the same next door at the pub and was £3 cheaper, but your food was delicious.
Wonderful meal and wonderful friendly staff . Very attentive. Only 2 negatives, not enough seating area whilst waiting for a table and we found the starter prices a little expensive. Over all ,a great evening and we would return.
We had a brilliant lunch. We were never rushed and would always recommend the Bolton restaurant.
Staff looked after us really well and the food was lovely.
Excellent service, attentive but not obtrusive. Food was gorgeous too.
A huge thank you to The Retreat for hosting my mum's 76th birthday meal. A thoughtful considerate dining experience (fully accommodating my autistic son with an essential iPad charge and a quiet area) and keeping us well served with a delicious choice of food and lovely drinks, served by a friendly and attentive team who seemed genuinely interested in us having a good evening.
Great food, great service
Great meal and atmosphere couldn’t recommend highly enough
Went to suprise my wife with a proposal and new ring for our 20 years. Atmosphere and food perfect and is now our new favourite place! Staff great and food was amazing!
Much improved menu with increased vegetarian selection.
Lovely meal. Thanks
Good service as usual. Friendly staff. Lovely place. Music not relaxing and too loud - could only hear the boom boom beat and not the actual song. Fillet Steak was well done (burned) and not medium slight pink inside) as requested. Steak overdone last time we came also. No none dairy milk for coffees etc.even though there are vegan options on menu. very small cartons of children’s long life soya milk can be bought from supermarkets.
The venue is great, much nicer than the one on Chorley New Road. The waitress was really nice however we had to ask twice for water to be brought to the table but it never arrived. Online there were great reviews for the garlic bread which came to us cold. We didn’t complain as the waitress was very busy I ordered chicken ceaser salad and it wasn’t great. There should be a warning that there are anchovies on the menu- luckily they could be flicked off. The salad was literally lettuce, 3 croutons, an egg, piece of chicken and sauce There was no cucumber, onion, bacon or Parmesan cheese which would have been better My partner order steak kebabs and wasn’t asked how he would like the steak cooking which meant he got medium rare. The veg with the kebab was really tasty as was the chips. Creme brûlée was out of this world and there was a great choice of food and drink on the menu. Would definitely go back as there is potential for this place to be superb
Good service but always seems expensive
Need specials. Menu does not change enough. When you live local and visit regular have to repeat a lot of meals.
Booked for my sons 18th birthday at 6.30 on a Saturday... nothing was done for him to make him feel special, not even a comment. Waited over 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive a further 30 minutes for our starters and over another hour for our main course to turn up. Didn't bother with dessert as could not be bothered to wait.Shocking as there were only 4 of us. The waiter and waitress did the best they could but were clearly very stressed with the situation as many other customers were also complaining about the service. Not impressed at all. So disappointed as it was my sons special family meal completely destroyed.
Despite being at the tail end of '120 cocktail special' once at our table the service was excellent!! Tried the 3 sliders @ £12 for the first time, all different flavours; Mexican chilli beef, Cajun chicken and sticky maple beefburger. Wow, all outstanding :) The restaurant was SO busy, time flew past and everything was superb- would ALWAYS thoroughly recommend Adlington Retreat!!
