About Restaurant Twenty Two

Restaurant Twenty Two is the debut restaurant of partners Sam Carter and Alex Olivier.

The restaurant occupies a quaint Victorian heritage house, with stained glass windows nestled into its brickwork that date back to 1892. Located in a historic corner of Cambridge, just off the River Cam on Jesus Green, the restaurant is in the perfect location for a leisurely lunch after a stroll (or punt!) alongthe river.

By night, its atmospheric candlelit dining rooms offer a special space to enjoy inventive yet fulfilling food for all occasions.

Sam’s menu is inspired by his many years working at Michelin level at some of the country’s top restaurants (Hambleton Hall and Maze by Gordon Ramsay to name only two). But the real inspiration comes from the ingredients delivered each day. We use the best local suppliers and present a weekly changing menu that reflects the most seasonal produce the area has to offer.

A very successful reboot of a long established restaurant. Imaginative menus and accomplished execution. It is undoubtedly on a journey to a Michelin star, and a terrific addition to the woefully small number of fine dining opportunities in Cambridge. We were three for lunch, and had the five course tasting menu and accompanying flight of wine. Highly recommended.

We havn't been to 22 for ages so what a lovely surprise, nice welcome, great food and attentive service. Not quite sure if the evening menu would offer more choice but we will investigate. The fact that it was a birthday surprise, the card on the table was a thoughtful touch. Thank you for a pleasant experience. regards Chris
