No criticisms of the food, drink, or service. The meal is excellent value.
The property could do with a bit of a paint but understand that the lunch offer is very good value for money and probably not feasible to do on such a budget..
Excellent lunch with lovely attentive staff
The staff were all very friendly, helpful and considerate of our needs, giving us extra time to make our choices. The venue was a peaceful and relaxing place to spend time with friends and family. My New Zealand friend was bowled over with the service, decor and the age of the building.
The lower end of the wine list did seem to be quite exspensive
We have been to this restaurant a few times for meals and whilst staying in one of the beautiful bedrooms. The food is always excellent and well presented. The staff are always helpful and polite.
The staff was very accommodating the service was excellent . The standard of food was excellent and although the children’s food was wrong the staff dealt with the problem quickly and professionally . My guests were very impressed .
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the table was beautifully set and the staff were very accommodating throughout our meal. The food was beautiful but our main meal was a very small serving, so I would advise ordering sides.
We gave been coming for many years and the standard has never dropped. We enjoyed the beautiful tasting menu this time
I have dined in many restaurants that have been accredited under the AA Rosette scheme but this is the first one that has offered two distinct classes of food on the menu. I cannot possibly comprehend why the menu is priced according to some vague standard called 'Home Comforts' whilst other dishes - designated as '2 AA Rosette Standard' are offered at a premium!
We had a really nice meal and the service was excellent. The only drawback was the pre-order proforma which we could not get to work. Also we sent a detailed pre-order by email which apparently was not received by yourselves and my wife also rang and spoke to a lady and dictated the menu choices but she also failed to pass this on to the restaurant so when we arrived on the Monday we had to order again!. Having said that the service from then on was excellent and our meal was only slightly delayed.
Always enjoy my visits, very comfortable surroundings, well looked after and lovely food, thank you
This is a lovely restaurant in a lovely setting with great food and atmosphere. The service was excellent. Our only grouse is the price of drinks, but given the great value of the Secret Sunday deal we were on, this is not a decisive factor. We will be back!
Having previously had a very enjoyable experience in every aspect lunching with friends last April we were keen to meet up again last week. The experience this time was very different in a negative way. We had booked a time for lunch but we were not given menus till a while after we arrived and consequently did not start to eat till 30 mins after our booked time and an hour after we arrived. Ordering drinks was slow, 2 members of the party deferred their free Prosecco to have with lunch but they did not arrive and a wine menu was never offered. When booking I had mentioned there were 2 vegetarians in the party yet the kitchen seemed unprepared. The one vegetarian main dish centred on blue cheese which not everyone liked and there was little else offered as that was also the main dish for the evening. A spinach risotto with falafel was offered ad looked forward to, however, on arrival it had parsley and no spinach and the so called felafels had no spices in them at all. Service was very poor throughout so it took a while for the plates to be cleared, pudding menus to be given, then orders to be taken and finally to arrive. No one came to ask if coffee was required and there was no one to ask for the bill. So finally we just got up left our desert plates and went to reception and paid with no tip and no desire to return.
Wonderful food, service was lovely and a fantastic experience for our anniversary dinner
A great meal served by attentive and friendly staff in a nice setting. What more could you want?
It was all lovely but the service was very rushed
Unbeatable! Just a unique setting. Sheffield's hidden jewel? Delicious food and great service.
We had lunch for my partners birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Very welcoming, excellent service and look forward to visiting again in the future.
Thoroughly enjoy our afternoon with you. A great celebration day where the service and food was impeccable.
Excellent food and service and value for money.
The staff service is excellent, and the food is beautifully presented and lovely to eat, being flavoursome and perfectly cooked. I wish there was a red and a white house wine, well chosen to complement the meal, but priced at around £20 to £23 per bottle.
The food was very good but the service was poor. There were 2 weddings taking place and we did feel second best as far as the waiters were concerned. To make matters worse we were sat near the centre of the 1584 restaurant with staff constantly passing through with items for wedding buffet. It felt like we were sat in a corridor. We would be better booking when there are no weddings taking place or making sure we had a table near the window.
Dining with friends for a special birthday. The meal was absolutely beautiful, Service and atmostphere were excellent. A big plus - excellently priced. Have now dined here on 4 occasions.
Fantastic service and food, never disappointed.
