About Red Wall 1939
Fine Dining Degustation Restaurant, serving authentic Chinese cuisine.
It's a really nice atmosphere. And service was good. The food was good, but the venue and ambition (and cost) calls for something extraordinary. And something with a somewhat stronger Chinese influence, which is some dishes was barely visible. A small example where more care could be taken: ensuring consistent plating - a flower was missing from one plate in our group, and servings varied quite significantly in size for the same dish in our group, which would not matter at all in a less ambitious restaurant.
The decor is very beautiful and elegant. One of our favourite dish were the crayfish. It was beautiful cooked and the wasabi on it added a fine touch. The rest was good, nothing really special. We go often to fine dining restaurants and most of them always add a special touch to the evening but it’s not applicable to the Red Wall.
To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the décor, quality of food and service. Skye was really wonderful and did her best to inform us of the meal and making sure that we were well looked after. Will come back!
Delightful experience with amazing food.
Theee is a typo in your reservation part. Please check. I like the fact you allow me to leave comments / requests whilst completing my reservation request
It was great dining experience. We were there for our wedding anniversary. Both food and service were fantastic. Looking forward to coming back already.
My wife and I really enjoyed the very special experience of dining at 1939 Red Wall in the Parnell Rose Gardens. It was very special. The décor and table settings are exquisite. Each of the degustation dishes were a flavour delight and "picture on a plate". a memorable experience.
the lobster tastes unfresh. the duck is terrible. I can understand the chief or the owner take great efforts to create and probably want to get some michelin star. however, creation does not mean give up the tradition. for example, the transitional cooking method of beijing toasted duck lasts for perhaps more than one hundred years. such a history proves that such a cooking method is good. the rea wall used totally different method to cook it. I would comment as good trial, failing taste.
Very lovely food and drinks and the staff are very friendly however for the price it was not the fine dining service you expect. Staff did not refill water or ask for top ups for drinks. They also did not explain the dishes well and stumbled across the description. Very lovely ladies that need a bit more training
Dishes served in the wrong order (main course first!) and staff seemed a little unsure why it even mattered. Beautiful setting and food was nice (but not remarkable). Had a good time but at this price point could not recommend or plan to revisit.
A great experience to taste fine Chinese cuisine and the tastes textures and plating were of a very high standard. Would mention that staff need to have knowledge of where the food is sourced from I.e. oysters Thank you Michael for the ptivste tour
Hi, we really enjoyed our meal and thought the level of detail from the food to the fitout was exceptional. It was very expensive, but still represented pretty good value for money, so I was fine with that. I did think it would have benefited from some better music to help liven the place up, as it was pretty quiet when we were there. -Maybe something a little modern, lounge, jazz.
Enjoyed so much. Will come back again
I really like the setting but I may not always want a big degustation meal with my friends. I would like to see more choices like A-la-Carte or a mini degustation menu. Ta
It is a bit too much for a lady. Could not finish all.
