About Red Squirrel
Great beers and a bite to eat. Here at Red Squirrel we welcome friends, cohorts & fellow Bon vivants.
Despite confirming my booking twice in the week before I was due to visit, I arrived on the day to find Red Squirrel closed. Luckily, we found a table at another restaurant nearby instead!
Excellent service, will be back. Loved the halloumi fries!
All perfect, as usual
Good selection of drinks and interesting pub grub. Great service on the night, easy to reserve a table and dog friendly.
Great pub grub and beer. Well organised and clearly Covid careful.
Under COVID restrictions I thought the Red Squirrel managed everything remarkably well. I had a great evening catching up with a couple of mates (before the introduction of the rule of 6) and felt safe at all times. Good food and a good range of beers, recommended.
Having visited on numerous occasions before and understanding the current situation myself and friend where dissapointed with the food and reduced drink menu as the stock was on display. I had the birdie burger which I have had previously and the portion size has been reduced by half and I left still hungry even though it tasted good. Service was responsive and attentive.
I have been a customer of The Red Squirrel for a number of years and I was delighted when they opened up again after lockdown. The food is always very good, the atmosphere welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Very good food, good selection of drinks and a lovely looking pub
Although I miss background music (thanks Covid-19) the Red Squirrel does not lack atmosphere. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. I had the Red Squirrel Burger and my husband went for the fish - in all honesty? The best meal we have out in ages. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. We are definitely going back - 20/10 Red Squirrel thanks to your staff and your chef!
Absolutely love coming here. Food is fabulous and so are the drinks. All staff are attentive and friendly. Great place!!!
Our favourite place to go
Great service from William, food and drink was excellent
Excellent food and service. Very quiet but to be expected in the current situation. Hopefully your business will grow again and folks can enjoy a meal out while staying safe.
It was maybe a bit dark inside. The service was very prompt. Food was great.
Great staff, quick service, lovely decor - I actually visited last summer, and my God, you lot haven't half decreased the portions, quality and upped the prices since then... The falafel was wet and stodgy, didn't seem remotely homemade. To line the bowl with spinach leaves doesn't miraculously make your halloumi fries into a bigger portion. The chicken burger was pitiful, small and sad looking - you used to have a portion of coleslaw on the side as part of the price, but now you want an extra £3.50 (whaaaat??) for what is essentially just cabbage and mayo? Safe to say, having finished our mains, I was still hungry and ordered the cheesecake - only what I got was broken digestive biscuit with cream, toffee and shaved banana...? Nowhere on the menu does it say that the cheesecake is deconstructed, so it's a rather horrible surprise to have placed in front of you. Your staff were lovely so we ate all of our food without complaint - having been a waitress myself, there was no chance I was about to tear into them during the current crisis when they're just trying to get by. But there's absolutely no way we'd return or recommend your establishment. Get back to how you used to be, you're really letting yourselves down if you carry on like this.
Love this place. It’s a shame it’s 300 miles from home and we only get to visit once or twice per year. Great food, great value and friendly staff.
Great and dog friendly
excellent atmosphere, great friendly staff and superb food!! Can’t wait to come back
Very friendly staff
Have been eating here for over 5 years. This is our go-to place in town whether with family, friends or colleagues. Always a delicious meal and a great drink! 5-stars all round.
Found this little place on an off chance whilst visiting Edinburgh, food was amazing. Deffinatley try the banoffe cheesecake if you get a chance. And the girl that served us was lovely couldn't do enough to help. Will deffinatley be revisiting here next time we visit!
Staff were great - really friendly. A cut down menu, which is understandable, however as always, the burger was amazing. More beers again please!
