About Red Roaster
We’ve re-imagined our cafe at the bottom of St James Street with the help of World Interiors Designer of the Year Hana Hakim. Its now a modern, botanical, tranquil space with brunch and lunch under the direction of Michelin Chef Matt Gillan. We hope you like it.
I loved the interior
Staff were really friendly and attentive! Very good value for money and the food was delicious!
We did this brunch for my mums birthday and was exceptionally pleased with the whole service and staff. Thank you very much
The staff were amazing and the food was so good. Everyone at our table had only good things to say. We even want the recipe for your coconut dip! I will 100% be recommending you to friends and booking again next time I’m in Brighton.
Came to Red Roaster as part of a hen weekend, and the team were really accommodating and made it a great visit. The food was delicious and the team were amazing, would definitely recommend to anyone heading to Brighton.
Excellent spot in the middle od brighton, the backyard feels kind of a mirage, like a little patio from the caribbean in the south coast of England. EXCELLENT service, very accomodating with my big dog and the food and the drinks were delicious.
Unfortunately the food took very long for us to be delivered and after we asked for it there wasn't a very empathetic reaction of the service staff. While everyone asked us when the food arrived if it was ok we would have expected an apology maybe even a coffee or tea on the house. Or a little juice shot, anything really to show that the breakfast/brunch should have been faster.
We had some dietary requirements which didn't prove to be a problem with your chefs. Waiting staff were excellent particularly the head waitress who went through the menu with us and marked the items we could have 'tweaked' to suit our requirements. The only criticism was that the tomatoes on the Heirloom dish were very tasteless which was a shame as this is the peak time for them.
Enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch for my mother - though no free slice of birthday cake?!? Bit rough ... still, the food was gorgeously plated and well conceived (missing just a touch of seasoning, though that might be subjective), the cocktails were great, and though it was a good sign, unfortunate that the Benedict had run out for the day. The back garden was peaceful, though could be slightly cleaner. The inside tables were too jam packed, and would have been uncomfortable for two guest, really designed for bigger groups. Prices were expected - you can find a cheaper meal, but nothing outrageous given the evident quality and effort. Will return someday. Cheers
What a fabulous place! Light, cool, airy! Great service and amazing food. I booked for a party of 13 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food! We will certainly be back and will be spreading the word! Thank you :-)
Lovely cafe, which really brightens up the street.
We were disappointed that a lot of the afternoon tea seemed to have elements missing. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and we were the only people seen to be having the afternoon tea so I’m assuming the lack of other patrons having the same as us was the reason for this but I really don’t think this is any excuse for elements clearly stated in the menu to be missed out.
the cafe was really busy. Everything was delicious its just a shame the service was so slow. really beautiful place though!
Absolutely stunning environment, food and service. I love this place!
Fantastic food and service, literally couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food and drinks were incredible. Can't wait to go back again soon!
Delicious food and friendly staff
Service was great, could have been a little more attentive or perhaps have more staff on during bottomless brunch hours. Food and drink was absolutely delicious and great atmosphere. We will be back!
The portion sizes used to be much bigger. The food is still good but is now expensive for the size Service was a bit hit and miss, friendly but took a while to take drinks order and then got one wrong and forgot 2.
Had the best Birthday Brunch with my friends. We had the bottomless brunch, I would defo recommend it. The staff were amazing and kept bringing over more and more cocktails. I will be coming back again and again.
Absolutely amazing afternoon tea, however, the sponge in the cake was slightly stale. Appararance wise I thought the staff could have had more professional uniform. This could be done by all staff wearing the same uniform with clean shoes.
Love Red Roaster. Think food is very good. Although latest menu is not as good as the last. Very good atmosphere and a beautiful restaurant. I do however find the service too lassez-faire. It’s too slow for me and unnatentive.
The service was terrible. We went for the unlimited mimosa brunch, they start the 90 minutes from when you order but it took ages for us to get our first drinks. Not once were we asked if we wanted another drink when they saw ours were empty, every time we had to attempt to flag down a waitress, all of whom were adamant on avoiding eye contact. Not very good value for money for the amount of cocktails you actually manage to get and for how long you have to wait for each one.
Friendly service and staff on a busy morning. Food was delicious and a good range. Willing to adapt menu options too and happy to help and advise.
