Run by head chef and owner Paul Gunning, Purslane serve a large variety of freshly prepared dishes, delivering an intense, high quality of flavour with every mouthful.
Paul's career has seen him work everywhere from London to Brittany via Australia and his CV includes stints at Gusto, The Balmoral. The Lowry in Manchester, La Garrigue and Dalhousie Castle.
So regardless of what you decide to eat on the day, you're guaranteed to be in good hands!

Brilliant food. The main course was as tasty as the starter which isn't always the case in restaurants. Semifreddo dessert was delicious. Innovative food with great attention to detail. Attentive but not intrusive service.

Thanks for a great night to finish off our weekend in Edinburgh. Our seven-course tasting menu was absolutely marvellous, and your blend of laid-back informal atmosphere and fine dining fare was exactly what we wanted.
Had a magical evening of amazing food and wine, with friendly professional service at Purslane. We had the 7 course tasting menu with matching premium wines. Every course was special. Highlights for me were the pigeon paired with Barolo, and the lamb paired with Crossbarn Cabernet Sauvignon. My partner loved the more dessert side of the menu, but we both agreed it was all amazing.
I've no idea how this small(ish) restaurant has remained hidden in plain sight for so long. The taster menu with paired wines is excellent value for money and the staff were very enthusiastic with both the food and the wine. Will definitely be back, can't say whether it will be a la carte or taster menu but either way I know we'll not be disappointed!
