About Punch Bowl Inn at Crosthwaite
The Punch Bowl has built a reputation based on good quality food, fine wines and attentive, friendly service whilst still retaining the homely English pub feel. In the kitchen we pride ourselves on preparing fresh, locally sourced food and presenting it in an honest but exciting fashion. The menu is based on a mixture of classic British and French flavour combinations using modern techniques and is updated regularly to meet seasonal availability.
If you are looking to bring a four legged friend with you we only have certain tables available for them, please call on 015395 68237 to reserve one of our dog friendly tables.
Everything was great but just the tables a little close together in the bar dining room particularly in the times of Covid 19
Amazing meal in a lovely setting. Staff were very nice and could not do enough for us.
Our experience was phenomenal! Couldn't fault anything, from ambiance to service to quality of the dishes we ate! It's a long time since I could truly say this is the BEST meal we've had anywhere in a very long time!
Lovely view, food and service excellent. Would recommend the Sunday roast, gravy and carrots fantastic.
Lovely food...great service. Desserts were to die for....particularly loved the pistachio creme brûlée!
As previous visits, we had a thoroughly wonderful meal, from arrival in the restaurant to departure all our requirements were met with excellent service. Alex looked after us with a friendly and professional manner. Thank you all at The Punchbowl .
Each time I have the pleasure of lunching or dining at the Punchbowl I find the forks bothersome. The handle is round and it swivels in the grasp. I sometimes wonder if other people find this too. Just a thought. Otherwise everything is wonderful.
A delicious lunch very memorable and we will return
Most enjoyable lunch with friendly efficient staff.
Fabulous as usual
Superb meal. Unfortunately the waitress (?Hannah) was not up to your usual standard. We'll come again though!
Thanks for a lovely evening. We certainly will be back
Lovely food and efficient, friendly service.
An excellent Sunday roast - the best I have ever eaten at a pub or restaurant. The carrots in orange were a new take which elevated that humble vegetable to great heights, and if only the chef could be persuaded not to stack the meat on the roast potatoes - which reduces their essential crispiness - I would be in seventh heaven.
Fantastic service, fantastic food, would highly recommend
Lovely lunch. Only slightly spoilt by being hassled to order food so quickly before being served a drink and five minutes to peruse the menu at leisure. Not the first time I’ve had this problem.
The cheese souffle was the best yet, absolutely to die for. When staying with my sister in Brough it's well worth the drive over just for the twice baked souffle and the rest of the food is also first rate. If you want to have a special meal then look no further, just book and enjoy.
Another great evening at the Punch Bowl, thank you!
We had a fantastic time at the Punchbowl on Sunday. The food was incredible; my husband even admitted that the roast potatoes were better than his own and he’s very proud of his! Rashima was a fantastic host and it was really nice that she remembered our children’s names. Only taking 1 point off for food because the children’s ice cream had completely melted by the time it was delivered to the table. They didn’t mind and enjoyed it anyway, but it was a bit disappointing after how great everything else was.
Really enjoyable evening in all respects
Fantastic dinner. Excellent food, great service and a nice atmosphere. So good in fact we returned for lunch the next day!
Excellent food, lots of thought goes into the flavour combinations and presentation and the service is very good. Always busy on a weekend so can take a little longer, birthday parties can be noisy anywhere and it's more expensive that many in the local area but well worth it for us, a special treat!
The service was good but all rather slow.
Excellent leisurely lunch. Great food and service with excellent real ales and good range of wines by the glass. highly recommended!
Felt staff were under pressure with valentines night. 2 courses in wrong order, cutlery cleared when still needed- but these were small points- the food was wonderful and we are shopping for the wine recommendations at home
