About Punch Bowl Inn at Crosthwaite
The Punch Bowl has built a reputation based on good quality food, fine wines and attentive, friendly service whilst still retaining the homely English pub feel. In the kitchen we pride ourselves on preparing fresh, locally sourced food and presenting it in an honest but exciting fashion. The menu is based on a mixture of classic British and French flavour combinations using modern techniques and is updated regularly to meet seasonal availability.
If you are looking to bring a four legged friend with you we only have certain tables available for them, please call on 015395 68237 to reserve one of our dog friendly tables.
Website out of date. Sags there is an early menu but was not available!
Lovely leisurely lunch! A Raspberry Soufflé to die for.
We’ve been many times and it’s our default choice for showing off to friends. Great food, which is often weak on a Monday night when Head Chefs tend to be off. Great team of chefs. Whilst we didn’t recognise front of house staff they performed really well. We entertained freinds from the States who were very impressed.
Lovely late lunch with friends.Very relaxed and interesting food. Will definitely return. Brenda
We love this place!
We are never disappointed with the food and service provided by you, and the setting and location is simply beautiful, especially on a sunny day! Russell Alty
Usual high standard of Sunday Lunch @ The Punchbowl, a very relaxed and pleasant experience.
We found the food we ordered superb, complex but unpretentious. In particular my twice baked Lamcashire cheese soufflé was truly memorable, as was the roasted cod. I fully recommend the Punchbowl ..excellent and interesting food, efficient staff, fairly priced and with the added bonus of being in the beautiful Lyth Valley
Great food as always.....Small issue with one child running around in the restaurant and shouting. Parents didnt seem to have control....Spoilt the atmosphere a little which was s shame...Thankyou
Exceptional food, a lovely welcoming place to eat and drink. Must book to avoid disappointment
Visited on a beautiful evening midweek and enjoyed a winning combination of delightful ambience, excellent food & drink, and efficient, friendly service. Definitely worth a visit
Excellent we will return however desserts were slow to arrive and we had to go to the bar for Bill .
Cool, airy room - delicious food - lovely wine - friendly service. What's not to like?
Already told a few friends about how good the meal was and that we will be back again!
Excellent food and drink generally, though we thought the wine slightly overpriced for the quality. Friendly staff but we were asked whether dessert was required on 2 separate occasions by different people. Coffee was diappointingly weak. Very tasty hot bread supplied. Would travel the 10 miles north anytime for a special occasion but not for a "routine" dinner at these prices.
Don't change a thing!
Really enjoyed the evening. Excellent service and great atmosphere. It feels like a special place to go for a meal. The steak was slightly overdone, and overall it was on the expensive side.
Thank you for a superb evening. We a party of five, really loved all the food especially the cheese souffle' which was amazing. The menu has something for everyone. The wines too were great. We will definitely be returning.
Staff very friendly and attentive, lovely place in beautiful surroundings, the food was outstanding!
Nice country pub. Friendly efficient staff. Good food. Rooms were nice.
Very enjoyable meal. Great menu.
Friendly staff and delicious food
Good food but slow service
Never let down by the food which as ever was amazing
Three of us took the skate which was so over salted as to be dangerous. My wife sent her food back and it was replaced by a moderate sea bass and her main course was not charged. Service was patchy and the food all looked clumsy. Not what we have been used to at the Punchbowl and will make think seriously about returning. Our French guests were not impressed.
