About Pravda Cafe & Grill
In Russian, Pravda means “the truth”. Hence the eatery’s focus on honest, produce-led dishes that use the very best ingredients New Zealand has to offer. The daytime menus offer flavourful café favourites given a modern spin, along with freshly ground Immigrant’s Son coffee. The cheese scones are world-famous in Wellington, while the breakfast and lunch dishes run the gamut from contemporary egg dishes to innovative salads, burgers and sandwiches, and bistro classics.
By night, Pravda is Wellington’s best steakhouse, with a carefully curated selection of exceptional cuts, informed by the menu at Pravda’s siblings, the iconic Jervois Steak House restaurants. Executive chef Gareth Stewart sources red meat of the highest quality, and alongside the grill offering is a modern bistro menu, with dishes that offer something for everyone.
It’s vold and draughty. You need a big heavy curtain at the top of the stars to keep the heat in
Music was a bit too loud.
First time at Pravda and we will definitely be back!
Excellent food and ambiance; very professional and courteous staff.
Ladies’ lunch - We had a great time, thank you
Pravda is consistently excellent. The two reasons I have not given it five stars across the board are that we were asked what we wanted to order before we knew what the soup of the day was. We had to ask what it was. Now of course that isn't hard, but so many places have to be prompted to tell you what the specials are, or wait to tell you until it is time for you to order. The second reason is that the very nice mushroom soup was a bit on the warmish to cool side. It needed to be hotter. I should have said something, but like a lot or people, I don't like to make a fuss. Our meals were really tasty and the coffee strong and hot.
Good lunch place
Fantastic service and menu. Keep it up team!
Great food and exceptional service - will return (as I do every week :-)
Lovely friendly waitress with good knowledge of the menu.
The food was beautiful, and cooked perfectly. Very memorable meals!
Not the best experience. The food was average and the restaurant needs a tidy up! Not a place I would go back to unfortunately.
Went to Pravda for a team celebration. Great food and excellent service. Was very impressed.
Delicious food and judging by the empty plates at our table, fellow guests agreed. Excellent drinks menu and very good service. I had to change the reservation time by half an hour with short notice but this was accommodated without problem. The only suggestion would be to offer more real vegetarian choices ie no added meat or fish.
Superb place to dine, service and food were both outstanding.
We really enjoyed our whole experience and your squid dish was the best we've had! Fab service too!!
We had a very enjoyable lunch. The snapper was delicious and service was great. The only criticism I would make (and I mentioned this to the front desk at the time) is that the bathrooms could do with a decent clean and/or makeover. Leftover coffee cup ,broken plastic soap dispenser and really grubby skirting boards are not a great look!
The most sophisticated food in Wellington, excellent and attentive staff. Priced reasonably, loving the European atmosphere, old and elegant.
Went for the ladies lunch, which was delightful, a high standard of food, beautifully presented & the service was amazing!! I’ll definitely be back!
Great service, the presentation of the food was excellent. Wine list very good but expensive
Excellent service. Waiter gave great recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and wine.
The food was superlative ... the Lamb Rump melted in our mouths, the truffle mash was full of truffle flavour. This has topped our list of best upmarket dining in Wellington.
Food took a very long time to arrive and the place wasn't that busy but table next us got their food before us just by ordering around 5 minutes after. Raw red onion in coleslaw was disgusting. Apart from that everything else was good
The food is amazing there. I had the lamb rump, and it melted in mouth, I was so tender. My partner had the buttermilk panfried chicken and that was very nice too. The staff were very friendly and always around to help. Thank you!
