About Pravda Cafe & Grill
In Russian, Pravda means “the truth”. Hence the eatery’s focus on honest, produce-led dishes that use the very best ingredients New Zealand has to offer. The daytime menus offer flavourful café favourites given a modern spin, along with freshly ground Immigrant’s Son coffee. The cheese scones are world-famous in Wellington, while the breakfast and lunch dishes run the gamut from contemporary egg dishes to innovative salads, burgers and sandwiches, and bistro classics.
By night, Pravda is Wellington’s best steakhouse, with a carefully curated selection of exceptional cuts, informed by the menu at Pravda’s siblings, the iconic Jervois Steak House restaurants. Executive chef Gareth Stewart sources red meat of the highest quality, and alongside the grill offering is a modern bistro menu, with dishes that offer something for everyone.
Awesome food and service! A lovely experience.
Few vegetarian options Dinner servings large - I would personally prefer some small plate options for sharing Great range of wine Food very good
Thanks Glen for a fantastic experience :)
Service from Olivia was absolutely awesome - we have no doubt that she is a valued member of staff for Pravda!
Food was delicious (read super yummy thanks Chef), and staff were great. Wowsers meant it was busy n noisy n full of women, lol, but that was expected (we were a part of it). Thanks Pravda.
Super staff attention and service. Delicious platter and wine combo and a perfect location for our pre WOW drinks and platters.
Mia did a wonderful job with service, especially catering to specific dietary requirements. She was awesome.
Fabulous as always
It was quite noisy and difficult to hear each other at times
Service could have been faster
Amazing service very good food and menu knowledge. Excellent food recommendations
My 10 year old daughter ordered the creme brûlée and when it was bought to the table the bowl was so incredibly hot that she burnt her finger on it. The waitress didn’t warn that it was that hot. I went to the waitresses and told them and asked for ice and water for her to put her finger in, which they bought to the table with a plaster.
Thank you Pravda, the food was superb so many bursts of flavour throughout the meal, you took all the dishes to a new level. We will return.
Booked in before a show and let the staff know what time we needed to be out. Meals were really delayed and slow and we ended up having to scoff down our meals in 5mins to get out. We were late for the show and really annoyed. Drinks took a long time to come out and orders were forgotten, i had to ask several times for a glass of wine before it came 5minutes before we had to leave. We also were not tokd about the special Wow menu option. For the price i would expect better service than this, great food but really disappointing overall experience, would not recommend.
On this visit during WoW, you were crazy busy (on an early Monday!) and ludicrously understaffed. This meant rather slow service times so we had to forego an anticipated dessert course. But despite that, all of the overly-busy servers showed some serious hustle and made us feel welcome. The mains and sides were second to none. So not what we had in mind but superb food with very attentive service. Next time we won't come during WoW but we will CERTAINLY be back.
Thank you Pravda the food was really good, I am not sure the bruschetta with orange, grapes and ricotta worked but we gave it a go. The fish of the day and the steak were perfect as were the chips cooked in beef dripping, the desert was yum. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the wine was great. We had a really good time and we will most certainly be back.
I thought the staff were incredible. They were flat out for a Monday night but were so accommodating
Connor served us and was very helpful, attentive, and warm. Thanks Connor! Jenny and Fraser.
Great place, great food, great staff, great.
Great meal. Lovely staff. An enjoyable experience.
Friendly and efficient service, but my cheese burger was a bit disappointing as it was rather dry. Good chips though.
Delcious food. Spot on service. Pleasant atmosphere.
Lovely prequel to wow opening night’
