About Pravda Cafe & Grill
In Russian, Pravda means “the truth”. Hence the eatery’s focus on honest, produce-led dishes that use the very best ingredients New Zealand has to offer. The daytime menus offer flavourful café favourites given a modern spin, along with freshly ground Immigrant’s Son coffee. The cheese scones are world-famous in Wellington, while the breakfast and lunch dishes run the gamut from contemporary egg dishes to innovative salads, burgers and sandwiches, and bistro classics.
By night, Pravda is Wellington’s best steakhouse, with a carefully curated selection of exceptional cuts, informed by the menu at Pravda’s siblings, the iconic Jervois Steak House restaurants. Executive chef Gareth Stewart sources red meat of the highest quality, and alongside the grill offering is a modern bistro menu, with dishes that offer something for everyone.
Fabulously presented meals and attentive service. My Tuna however was a little dry as slightly overcooked but was served with an amazing salad drizzled with a strawberry jus. I tasted my wife's pork belly with traditional chewy crackling and it was stupendous. Desserts were mouth watering as was my affagato coffee with choice of liquor.
Always a good experience
The meals were brilliant.
Staff were knowledgable, attentive and friendly. A very enjoyable night for a group of 7
Absolutely the best dining experience ever, fabulous food - honestly stunning, impeccable service (thanks Helena 💕) I had pork belly, my friend lamb rump & a side of stir fried greens. Then raspberry cream brûlée & I had sticky toffee Sunday.. The flavours were just perfect. Our most most favourite restaurant ever
The bone marrow entree was amazing!
The steaks are the best!
Ellie is amazing. Food delicious. TY
Great lunch great service!
Enjoyed the lunch menu which offers a good selection or light or larger meals.
Really great service, knowledgeable wait staff, really quick turnaround from ordering to food appearing, and well priced
As usual - great service and atmosphere at Pravda; excellent cocktail choices. My overseas guests were very happy with their meal but unfortunately the chicken fettucine I ordered was devoid of flavour and hard to finish - never struck this before at Pravda and was a bit of a shame
I love Pravda, that's why I always come back. I am never disappointed. Frieda Crawford. Managing Director. Clarity Consulting Group.
Excellent service and food quality
Very informative regarding the steak selection and a very enjoyable meal
Excellent meal & service ✅
I had the King's Cut, which is their signature steak. While it is a bit pricey, it was one of the best steaks I have had in Wellington and I can highly recommend it when you have a special celebration. The people with me had the pork belly and Market catch, and they really enjoyed their meals too. Try out Pravda, you will like it!
Great meal but not a lot of atmosphere for a Saturday night
First time here and everything was perfect - from greeting us to ordering, keeping our glasses filled with water, to the amazing and filling food, and to payment.
Beautiful food, helpful and friendly wait staff. Clear and concise menu with so many amazing things to choose from!
Has to be Wellington's top restaurant - for both food and service!
Dessert was very nice - A+ the main meal was average - wasnt bad but also wasnt good. The sauce for the Fettucine should be less soup and more creamy
It was actually the best food I've ever eaten in my life :D
Despite having arranged a booking a few weeks earlier, and arriving on time, our table wasn’t ready. The maître’d (or the person whom was performing this task) was not overly enthusiastic to see us as had us standing at our table while she hurried pushing tables together and, upon request, we received the Xmas lunch menu that we had requested with our original booking. Perhaps asking our group to take a seat in the bar while things got sorted may have been a better way to deal with this minor delay. Helena (I think this was her name), our waiter, was delightful.
