About Porterhouse Steakhouse and Coffee Bar
Porterhouse Steakhouse & Coffee Bar is situated in the heart of Aberdeenshire in Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. Boasting an inspirational menu and serving exclusively seasonal, locally-sourced cuisine, Porterhouse showcases only the finest food from the North East of Scotland.
As a division of ANM Group, Scotland’s leading cooperative farming, food and finance business, we are part of the local agricultural community and are proud to serve the very best that Aberdeenshire larder has to offer.
Our award-winning restaurant is named after the cut of steak famous the world over for its flavour and special qualities. Preparing and serving flavoursome steak is our passion, whatever your preferred cut may be. Whether it is a juicy fillet, a succulent sirloin, a ribeye or a Chateaubriand for two, our chefs treat our top-quality steaks with the care and respect they deserve and will prepare your order to your exact preference. Our personal recommendation – the Tomahawk steak – is the first cut from the sirloin and is served on the bone with a rich, marbled texture. A cut owing its name to its hatchet-like appearance, the Tomahawk is thick, juicy, and the perfect choice for a true steak lover.
Food was good but service was appalling. We sat for an hour and a half before we were forced to go and find someone to ask for a menu. The person asked was the same person who had seated us and he actually expressed surprise that we had not been attended to. Who did he think was going to do that? After ordering, we were informed that we would have to wait another fifteen minutes due to the ongoings in the kitchen. There seemed to be very few staff in the building. Staff were informed of our displeasure at the waiting time and we were given something off the bill to compensate. However, this did not alleviate our annoyance at being treated so badly. Our table was booked so it’s not like we turned up unexpectedly. Service was a total shambles and we certainly will not be paying a return visit. It was actually a joint birthday celebration, which made it worse.
Very disappointed as heard great things about the food . Think you should advise your waiting staff on how the food is cooked . Asked before ordering lamb encroute if the lamb was quite pink as I don’t eat meat that is bloody . Her reply was that the lamb was minced ! Would not be pink it would be cooked well . So I ordered it , felt sick when I saw blood through my puréed peas , had to get them to cook it a bit more . Spoilt the whole dish . The steak sharer was very poor , not quality meat I have had in other restaurants . My husnabd eaten all over the world and thought my local restaurant would be good for a birthday meal . On a plus I enjoyed the canapés for spending £189 I came away hungry and and quite disappointed. One family member said that he took a mouthful of steak and it had a strange taste told the waiter and he just acknowledged it . The Sunday carvery is a delight but will never go back for evening meal
Lovely relaxed restaurant, great food and staff.
Sunday Carvery excellent as usual, the smoked salmon and prawn salad starter was nice ( a slice of lemon on the side would have been good), the roast beef was really tender and tasty turkey was excellent too. A good value Sunday lunch altogether. For me only one down side, it was very noisy with a lot of echo in the dining room, noise reducing pads on the ceiling would be a great help and not too expensive to install either I would guess. The noise wouldn't stop me going back though!
C'est un mc.donald's mais presenté meilleur...
Why I have given a low score for service is that our 36 people were seated in three long tsbles. The table nearest the kitchen were served first, then the middle table. Unfortunately, the last table, at which I was seated did have to wait some time. It was commented on that the first table were finished their main course as we were waiting on ours. The restaurant did become extremely busy and there was obviously not enough staff to handle this. Having said that, I should like to praise the ones who were there, especially the older waitress ( not in looks or manner!) who served us as quickly as she could as well as other tables. Praise too for the chef and kitchen staff who did a fantastic job. Hopefully, the next time I would ask that our tables be served first as we did arrive at 12 noon well before other people started to come in.
Second time there and it was as good as the first time. We'll be back soon I'm sure.
Can’t fault anything, most enjoyable.
Food was good but service was a bit slow.
Service was not very attentive. The steaks were beautiful but the desserts menu needs an overhaul..
Great food and great staff. Welcoming atmosphere. Would highly recommend. 😀
We had a lovely meal - carvery. I am going to recommend to all my friends and will be back soon.
Food was lovely! Steak cooked very well. Only negative was the wait in between main course and dessert. Roughly 30-40 minutes in between. Otherwise service was good. Friendly staff
Great food in a cosy and friendly restaurant. Service was friendly but a little slow - although that helps create a relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent service and friendly staff, Carvery was delicious.
We had a really great family lunch! Not our first visit and won't be our last!!
We enjoyed an excellent mother’s day lunch! Beautiful carvery and fantastic service and a wee gift for mum too! Will definitely be back.
Booked Gourmet night following an excellent experience at last year's event. However on this occasion we found the quality of the food disappointing with issues in many of the courses. For example garlic overpowering the delicate scallops, bacon surrounding pork fillet soggy and unpleasant texture. Cinnamon raisins with halibut more suited to an apple crumble with it being too sweet to my taste for a savory dish. Overall very disappointing following our experience last year included roe deer confit and Chateaubriand and all cooked to perfection
Excellent Mothers Day Carvery
Had a lovely evening at the “Gourmet night” on 29th March. Evening was well presented and we had a lovely evening... thanks again for acknowledging my parent special anniversary too...
The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere there is cosy. Considering that the food is not microwaved, it takes some time to get prepared, which is perfectly fine. The food, apparently 'The Porterhouse signature' and 'The Scotch Porterhouse Chateaubriand', both steaks medium rare, was absolutely amazing - succulent and full of flavour. Will definitely come back again.
Steaks were beautiful, Well cooked and tender!
Friendly, efficient service. Excellent food .Unusual & interesting combinations of foods . Thoroughly recommend
Had a lovely family meal. We all had the carvary and it was delicious. The starters and sweets were all lovely presented and tasted great too. The white chocolate and raspberry brownie was amazing! We’ll definitely be back.
