Formerly The Greedy Goose, Platos is Ben Palmer's newest concept for Plymouth - set around small plates, we look forward to welcoming you for outside dining from 15th April, weather permitting.
Set in Plymouth’s oldest building, Prysten House, tucked away between the city centre and the barbican. The building alone creates a very special & truly magical ambience, with it’s very own fine water well and stunning courtyard, it’s a great spot for you to come and enjoy Plymouth's new small plates restaurant.
Platos is located just behind St Andrew’s church, on Finewell Street. The restaurant doesn’t have its own parking but there is plenty available close by.
Please note that due to the government guidelines regarding COVID-19, the maximum booking online you can make is currently 6. If you have a larger number that adheres to the ‘2 households’ rule, then please use email as your form of booking, to ensure you have a table the correct size for your party.
When making a reservation, you will be asked for card details to confirm all reservations. All payment card details are held, and any cancellation fees will be processed by Stripe, who act on behalf of Platos. In the event that the booking is not honoured or is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, a fee of £10 per person would be charged to the card.
WE WERE VERY APPRECIATIVE THAT FRANCESCA HONOURED OUR GIFT VOUCHER. IN THIS CURRENT ENVIRONMENT THEIR HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES WERE VERY GOOD. AUTOMATIC HAND GET INSIDE THE DOOR AND THE SEATING WAS SPREAD OUT SO THAT NO ONE WAS SAT TOO CLOSELY TOGETHER...WE DID NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN THE FOYER BUT WERE SHOWN RIGHT TO THE TABLE. THE STAFF WERE REALLY LOVELY, HAPPY AND ACCOMODATING. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. THE MEAL WAS IMPECABLE AND OF A HIGH QUALITY. IT WAS FRESH, HOT AND TASTY. WE HOPE THAT WHEN THIS CRISIS IS OVER THE GREEDY GOOSE CAN RECOVER ECONOMICALLY. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN THE FUTURE. GOOD LUCK
Although we visited the restaurant amid the Covid 19 crisis the staff were very professional in their attitude and super friendly. We really enjoyed our evening.
As a treat for our Anniversary we enjoyed a fabulous 11 course taster meal last night. A wonderful warm welcome and superb service from staff who are quite obviously passionate about the food they serve. Will definitely be returning soon.
Very impressed with service and cleanliness in light of current coronavirus outbreak.
I can see us coming frequently rather than occasionally in the future.
Good food good drink
Fab meal and service as always.
We always have a great meal at GG. It's a real favourite
Always delicious! Thank you very much Great vegetarian roast, and the cauliflower cheese was the best yet! Loads of cheese sauce just like it should be! See you again v soin
Sunday lunch has extra wow factor bits to distinguish from more ordinary venues. Also, the range of vegetables included was superb. Price is also very competitive. Much better Sunday lunch than Boringdon Hall, and service much better as well
Fantastic service and we had the pre theatre menu. The building is lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The food was good, we were a little disappointed by the options on the menu as similar to The Treasury and was expecting something a little more special than a burger or macaroni but was still good value for money. Would go back to try the tasting menu which looked great but obviously more expensive.
A wonderful restaurant! The staff are excellent, very welcoming and brilliant at explaining the extensive food choices. This restaurant caters for all budgets! From great value £15 for 3 course Pre-show meals to full 11 course taster menus with wine, all delicious! Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner whilst visiting Plymouth
Came for a weekday lunch while visiting Plymouth. Had a little trouble finding it, as the street was being worked on in advance of the Mayflower 400th anniversary, but the challenge was well rewarded. Terrific food, friendly and efficient service.
The early evening menu is very limited as you'd expect with a set menu and the portion sizes small however I was comfortably full at the end of my meal. Unfortunately the temperature was slightly cooler than I'd like, just not comfortable. Very polite and pleasant staff.
Had the fixed price 3 course menu before we went to the theatre, it was delicious and perfect portion sizes.
Food and atmosphere of restaurant was amazing! Staff were so friends and couldn’t do enough to make us feel comfortable and make sure we had a lovely time! Highly recommend!
We have been looking for a restaurant to use through the year, yesterday was our low key 39 Wedding Anniversary. Your attention to detail is splendid EG the butter was at a spreadable consistency, rare indeed! The staff friendly, helpful, but not intrusive. My Baked Cod dish, perfect flakes. Happy punters!
My 2nd visit in a month, both times very enjoyable.
lovely birthday celebratory lunch delicious
Really raised my bar for what good food is, not a single bad dish and considering what the same level of dining would cost in London a bargain I’d say.
The best restaurant in Plymouth
The three course set menu was good value for money. The food was creatively cooked and well presented. Portions were smaller than average, but appropriate to the price. We all absolutely loved the rhubarb mousse with ginger ice cream.
We had the most amazing meal from start to finish the taste of all courses was sooo amazing, the staff was so welcoming and very friendly , it was my daughters birthday and they did a lovely touch for her at the end of the meal THANK YOU VERY MUCH
