About Platform 818
First opened in 1855, Central Station was a simple wooden platform with a corrugated iron shed. It serviced the first passenger line in NSW running between Sydney and Parramatta.
Platform 818 pays homage to the history and heritage of the railway system and railway towns in NSW throughout the years. Industrial, rustic, yet chic, it’s ideal for people looking for great times and new adventures.

Sensational meal with fantastic service
The service staff were amazing. Friendly and warm and very professional. I was very impressed with the wait staff. They are a real asset to Platform 818. Thank you for a very enjoyable time.
When we arrived at 17:45 pre-theatre dinner we were told that the restaurant does not open until 18:00 despite the four emails that i had received to confirm.
Big credit to the chef for accomodating my wife’s dietary requirements. Food was amazing!

The service was fantastic - the bartender and our waitress were very friendly and attentive. The food was very nice with the ironbark haloumi and Angus steak being standouts.
I ordered the Scotch fillet steak cooked ‘medium’. My steak was brought to me ‘well done’. The portions are rather small. However, our server was very good and attentive.

.overall a great meal and evening. The price guide for the high end steaks is getting up there with some top restaurants but the quality was great!
We went for a birthday dinner - great food and service. No cakeage unlike many restaurants. Highlights were the beef cheek with crispy kale and rotollo. Will have to come back next time and try the cocktails as they looked really interesting!

Had an amazing experience and good food. Service staff were attentive and helpful. Had a special seafood pasta, surf n turf. Both were cooked to perfection, also had snapper and beef cheek. For me i would ve preferred snapper grilled with some crispy skin but they only oven baked them. Otherwise everything was great. Oh they forgot feta on my salad but rectified it right away. To be honest couldnt complain, as any CBD restaurants are packed on saturday night but they had quite a good atmosphere.

Food wine and service were all excellent, and the antipasto grazing table was a great idea. The main course, the lamb, was delicious however it was only lukewarm when it was served (I understand that there was a large group to service and I think you did very well!) but as the serving plates were thick and heavy perhaps they would have kept the meal hotter if they were themselves preheated.
Our waiter was very friendly, polite & helpful. My main was meant to come with a puree & black cabbage. The waiter did not explain that this would be substituted for green veg due to my allergies so we therefore ordered a side of veg and my friend really wanted the chips. We didn't get the chips as i was told I couldnt have them due to the oil. So basically my friend ate the side of greens as I already had plenty on my plate. My friends main would be considered more like a starter size but with a main price tag.
Service was friendly and timely. I had the steak, hubby had the pork cutlet. Both cooked perfectly and enough accompaniments so need to buy sides as well. A very enjoyable experience.
I can't believe how bad the service is at this restaurant. I ordered pork belly and it was not possible to cut it. I politely told the waiter that I had to send the dish back, and the waiter immediately started to argue with me. I explained that I did not wish to argue with him, and he proceeded to harass me. I had to then explain to the manager that his staff should not argue with customers. I also explained my reason for sending the dish back. For this horrid experience I was given free chips. Even when I went to pay the waitress couldn't really figure out how to charge my credit card. This place is a shambles from start to finish. If you want a nice evening out, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are lots of restaurants in Chippendale, and you can go literally anywhere else, because no place is as awful as this!
