About Platform 818
First opened in 1855, Central Station was a simple wooden platform with a corrugated iron shed. It serviced the first passenger line in NSW running between Sydney and Parramatta.
Platform 818 pays homage to the history and heritage of the railway system and railway towns in NSW throughout the years. Industrial, rustic, yet chic, it’s ideal for people looking for great times and new adventures.
Hop on board as we take a palatable excursion through time. Experience a modern take on classic Australian dishes made with locally sourced produce from railway towns along the NSW goods line. Enjoy it with carefully crafted high ball cocktails layered with flavours inspired by historic railway stations around the world.
Booked this restaurant through First Table website for a dinner with a friend since the reviews were good. The staff were all friendly and helpful to explain the menu and specials and the dish ordered, beef cheek, was very nice. My friends duck satisfied her as well. It was Tuesday night so it was not busy and the atmosphere was great.
We have stayed in the Mercure many times and this restaurant just gets better and better. Since the refurbishment and renaming it has taken a further step up. Good variety of food, very friendly and attentive staff and a good wine list. Platform 818 thoroughly deserves its elevated status in the list of Sydney restaurants.
The food was amazing and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Excellent parking deal for attending theatre. We arrived at 10am, went to 2pm theatre and had dinner afterwards, leaving at 8pm. Very convenient.
Food was delicious, beautifully presented, staff were lovely - friendly and efficient. Excellent pre-theatre dinner
Would definitely go back , food was absolutely delicious
Georgia our waitress was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu and drink menu and very pleasant and helpful. The food was lovely as usual and the flavours were amazing. Lemon Tart for dessert is a must
Excellent pre theatre menu. Thoughtful service and great value.
Had the pre-theatre meal there, and the service was fantastic. Decent food. We pre-ordered a 3 course meal initially, but got full after the mains and asked if we could not have the dessert and just paid for the 2 courses instead, and was accepted :-). Will be back.
The food and service were great. We booked the pre-theatre dining which includes free parking. Would highly recommend.
We did pre theatre dinning. It was exactly the type of atmosphere I was hoping for. Not to loud, relaxing, great food and a short stroll to the theatre.
Food was great, but service was above that!!! Thank you
Wonderful food and service, definitely coming back.
Fabulous service from Natasha and MaitreD. Super fast and fuss free service. Water was kept topped up, extra bread was offered and Natasha checked in with us regularly. Loved that we could preorder before seeing Chicago. Beautiful spot by the window. Garlic prawns were divine.
Great food and service. Nice atmosphere for friends to be together with good wine and great food. Fully recommend.
It was fantastic dinner. We had 2 kids with us and they had been given some drawings to do. Juliet was making sure that everything was served smoothly. She was fantastic and made dinner very enjoyable. Recommended dish was perfect. Very large portioned pasta of the day and it was delicious. Many of the menus were felt very good value for its quality. Thanks. Would visit again for sure.
Good food, fast service and friendly staff
What a great night we had with our Chicago pre-show package. Our food was wonderful. Our wait staff were truly exceptional. I’ll be back soon. Highly recommend.
We dined here a few nights ago and we all loved the food. The portions were generous and the flavours were sensational. The restaurant has a nice ambience and our waiter Ann was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and helped us decide on some amazing dishes. Would definitely recommend to friends & return.
We had conveyed and reconfirmed dietary requirements prior to the event yet these were not properly addressed on the night and we then had to first of all wait an additional ten minutes or so after the other guests at our table received their first entree and then had to discuss our requirements once more when it came to the mains. Then this was a wine dinner and you knew how many guests were involved yet you still managed to run out of the second wine of the night and had to obtain and chill down another bottle to complete the service... that is not good enough either
We had a wonderful night at "Wines of the world". The food is always excellent, never disappoints!
The meal was disappointing. The second dish the pastry was too hard and should have been Puff Pastry. The main course fillet steak was too overcooked and the truffle mushroom sauce was too dominant. The wines served were very good. The room was far too noisy
Really enjoy these events. We have attended the last 3 and intend to continue the journey
Venue was excellent and the food was of the highest quality. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The experience was very pleasant and enjoyable. Would recommend to everyone.
Great experience. Food was amazing and the matched wines were superb. Staff went above and beyond all evening to create a memorable experience.
