About Pizarro Bermondsey
The full-sized restaurant is one block away from my sherry and tapas bar, José, on Bermondsey Street. At the front there is a bar, offering a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, with a spotlight on cavas, Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút.
Here, at the window seats overlooking the lovely church of St Mary Magdalen or at the long communal table or at the bar itself, you can have a drink and graze on snacks, cheese, cold cuts and special tapas all day long. At the rear is more formal restaurant seating – tables for 2 and 4, banquettes for 4-5, a large communal table for 8-10 people and a private dining room for 8-10 people.
We offer a selection of small and more substantial dishes that can be served as starters and mains or as tapas for sharing. As usual, I want to bring you delicious food with bright new flavours – the season’s best on a plate.
We went for a working lunch and the food blew us away.. we tried a couple of the specials as well as dishes from the main menu... we'll definitely be back
Love Pizarro... delicious, friendly, welcoming to me and my dog Nova and a lovely seasonal menu... I’ve been lots of times and will keep coming back
Couldn't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Food was absolutely gorgeous and staff were lovely. A little bit pricey but worth a visit for that special occasion or sod it moment when you just want really good food!
Delicious and the staff made us feel very welcome. Thank you and I'm sure we will be back.
As always, an absolutely stellar evening sat at the bar watching the team put together some amazing dishes (and then consuming a good number of them!) Can't be beaten.
There's a reason we keep coming back. Excellent standards always high. Great atmosphere.
A wonderful experience from the moment I set foot in the restaurant. Thank you all so very much.
The private dining room for our group of 6 was wonderful - a lovely setting for delicious food & wine. Our host who looked after our table for the afternoon made our experience. She was attentive, friendly, fun and knowledgeable when it came to the menu and what to recommend - which definitely makes it for me. A true credit to the restaurant. I would definitely return!
Apart from the Presa Iberica, which was outstanding, all the other dishes we sampled were peculiarly bland for Spanish food. Moreover, the "ajo blanco" was nothing of the sort, merely a nondescript aji-cum-mayonnaise, and as for the braised spring onions, the less said the better. Finally, the wines I recognised were all wildly overpriced - the Sedella for example, which retails at about £25 per bottle, was priced up at £80! The service was good, but slightly aloof and patronising, and became hesitant once our waitress realised we knew about Spanish food and drink. Overall, an overpriced, underwhelming experience.
One of our favourite restaurants in London!
I really love this place, really good food in a relaxed atmosphere, very lively and good service.
Great service and good food.
Six very happy customers! Exceptional food and service as always. One of my guests said it was the best meal he’s ever had. We will be back.
The skrei was quite tasteless and the chicken average enough. Padrón peppers and the croquetas were nice to share as starters. The complimentary sparkling water was a nice touch, although a bit more gas in it would be nice! Good, friendly service.
We took our grandchildren to Pizarro's for a birthday treat. We sat in the private dining room and ate a range of sharing plates. As always the food was delicious and the service excellent and all the staff were warm and welcoming. It's wonderful to have such a good restaurant in Bermondsey Street.
Excellent in every respect. Our second visit and we will be back. All food freshly prepared with chefs working behind the open bar. We will definitely recommend to family, friends and work colleagues.
The whole experience was lovely, the restaurant is well designed and has a relaxed informal atmosphere. The food and staff were great and we were looked after very well by all the staff. The food is amazing, full of flavour and delivered with professionalism and charm. I’ve wanted to come here for a while having been to Brindsa and Jose’s and it did not dissapoint. It’s a lovely restaurant and I could not make any suggestion to improve our experience. I took my parents and they are very discerning when eating in restaurants and they both loved it. Thank you for a lovely experience I will defineitly be back again to sample more things on the menu !!! Well done one to you all.
Great food and service!
As a party of 10 we were offered the private dining room just off the main restaurant. This is a lovely space with circular table, perfect for socialising in a large group. As we did not want a heavy meal we were offered a lovely selection of tapas which with one exception suited everyone's taste. As a lover of squid I would just say that the baby squid was not what I was expecting and it did not find favour with any of the group. That said, Anna and her team did us proud. Thank you so much
Service was excellent. Thought menu was a little restrictive, although food was excellent quality.
Lamb was a highlight!
Pork was cold
Sat evening, restaurant full, but an hour between ordering and getting food. Maitre d' apologetic, but the kitchen should be able to cope better.
