About Pizarro Bermondsey
The full-sized restaurant is one block away from my sherry and tapas bar, José, on Bermondsey Street. At the front there is a bar, offering a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, with a spotlight on cavas, Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút.
Here, at the window seats overlooking the lovely church of St Mary Magdalen or at the long communal table or at the bar itself, you can have a drink and graze on snacks, cheese, cold cuts and special tapas all day long. At the rear is more formal restaurant seating – tables for 2 and 4, banquettes for 4-5, a large communal table for 8-10 people and a private dining room for 8-10 people.
We offer a selection of small and more substantial dishes that can be served as starters and mains or as tapas for sharing. As usual, I want to bring you delicious food with bright new flavours – the season’s best on a plate.
Excellent all round experience. Interesting and and delicious menu
Lovely restaurant! The Iberica pork was recommended buy the waiter and was absolutely amazing!!
Very enjoyable evening. We started with some choices from the started menu and then shared two mains between the four of us. Food was of good quality, we will definitely be back again, fully recommend it.
We all found the food atmosphere and service outstanding and look forward on returning
Great experience from the booking experience with Giorgia to the service (I am sorry cannot remember the name of the lady who served us, but she was amazing, engaging, and intuitive). The food was of course delicious. It is always a pleasure to come back to your restaurant and we are very proud to have you as our neighbours!
Great food and service.
Overall the food was OK although we felt that the menu was not explained well. Having opted for the beef accompanied by potato (according to the the menu) we were dissapointed to be served fried fries along with what looked like living cow- at no point were we asked how we wanted the beef cooked. We were also extremely let down by the service. It was my partner's birthday and as such we were very much looking forward to dinner at Pizzaro and unfortunately the experience dampened the celebration. Whilst we were eating, the waitresses were clearing our plates mid meal. This was rude and gave us the sense of being rushed. We did not feel our custom was appreciated in the slightest, especially considering that the food here is not cheap. We might be trying the tapas bar in the hope that the service and food here is better.
Thank you all so much for looking after our group booking on Thursday. The food was just amazing and everyone has said what a fantastic evening they had. Thank you for looking after us!
Very good food and excellent service . Highlights were the calegia beef fillet and castilian lamb and the deserts highlight were the apricot pudding and the Torrija and caramelised almonds - that was so good . Will definitely go again .
We were a large party of eleven. Service was excellent. The quality of food as always with Pizarro was superb. All freshly cooked, presentation was very good, and the portions etc for a large group were very generous. I would totally endorse the restaurant as an excellent venue for a large group.
Always a pleasure to be back.
Truly great food and wine. The suckling lamb leg and John Dory were amazing. Good service with knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic staff.
Ink croquetas were amazing
Lobster and rice dish to share was delicious
Nice atmosphere and great service but the dishes were too pricey for what they were. The leg of lamb was quite greasy and very bland. It needed better seasoning but there was no actual flavour to it. Same problem with the John Dory and we ordered about 6 smaller plates all needed seasoning! Chefs need to taste their food before sending out. You can’t be pricing a menu like that with these basic checks missed and such a complicated menu.
I had a really good time, I was disappointed with the main course we ordered to share a whole leg of lamb and side dishes, the lamb was overcooked.
Our dinner was so yummy. On top of it, service was excellent
Brought a couple of work colleagues along, well looked after as usual, food up to the regular high standard.
The food was wonderful and the staff utterly charming. It was great to see the chefs at work.
The occasion was a 20th anniversary and I booked the private dining room for 9 guests. Absolutely everything about the lunch was perfect: course after course of delicious food for sharing; good and reasonably priced house wine; and above all the impeccable and charming service. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Excellent service and great variety of flavours throughout. Had lamb for main that was beautifully tender.
Lovely evening but for my income the £150 price tag for 2 was steep
