About Pier Eight at The Lowry
Pier Eight is The Lowry’s stylish restaurant and bar, overlooking the stunning waterside setting of Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.
Serving fresh, British flavours and seasonal ingredients, it is the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch, pre-show meal or a special occasion. If you’re looking for a more casual dining experience, we also offer a full bar menu in the Pier Eight Bar.
"My ethos on cooking has always been about sourcing the best local and seasonal ingredients from the great suppliers on our doorstep across Lancashire and Cheshire. The menu focuses on simple dishes and flavour pairings, using ingredients and produce that shine in their own right."
Oliver Thomas, Executive Head Chef

Disappointed at the poor choice of dairy-free options Starter, chicken terrine, grey, dull, and served far too cold, very unappetising Mains Lamb excellent, although carrot puree better left in Heinz baby jar. It seemed as though all meals were pre-plated, no attempt to accommodate dinners preference
We really enjoy having a lovely lunch at the Pier Restaurant followed by a matinee performance at the theatre. Our meal was excellent- all three courses, and our service was lovely. We didn’t have to wait for anything. Charming and courteous. Lovely
Lily, was very personable and efficient and enhanced the pleasure of our dining experience
We attend the Lyric Theatre at the Lowry fairly regularly - maybe once every couple of months. When we do we have got into the habit of combining this with a pre-show meal at Pier Eight. The food & service are excellent & you can be sure you will not miss any of the show. This time we were seeing An Inspector Calls. After our last visit for Circus 1903 I left a trip advisor review saying how good the food & service was but that we had had difficulty getting a none alcoholic drink. No such problems this time as we specifically asked for orange juice, but there are still only alcoholic drinks on the drinks menu on the table if you want coffee, fruit juice or whatever you have to ask for them they are not on the menu. As most people will be attending by driving to the venue I find this strange & said as much to the manager when he rang me after my review was posted. The service, food and everything about our visit this time was first rate & we will be back soon. Thank you. No need to ring me this time just put the fruit juices, coke, lemonade etc on your drinks menu, or even a small additional drinks menu if that is easier.
Fabulous food! Good choices. Attentive and friendly service whilst not intrusive. Value for money. Would definitely recommend and book again. Thank you. A good start to a fabulous performance by Sandi Toksvig.
Good quality well presented food. Excellent friendly helpful service.
We have eaten pre theatre menu many times. Good/staff/service all excellent. We recently decided to eat a plant based diet; emailed to check if they could offer a vegan option. Very helpful rely saying yes. Soup starter - fabulous soup. Main- sadly very dull and bland risotto They don’t claim to be vegan and they did accommodate us, but no choice and no imagination to cater for what’s becoming a popular dietary choice.
Excellent venue for a pre theatre meal or for a nice relaxed lunch.
Much too hot. We had to ask for the heating to be switched off. Food a bit too pretentious but very nice. No vegan options which was a shame. Young lady who served us was excellent.
We came for my friends birthday and she absolutely loved it. We had a lovely afternoon. The food was delicious and the surroundings were lovely.
A meal at Pier Eight is a fantastic way to start an evening at the theatre. The food is beautiful and the service is very relaxed and friendly.
Very good food quality and excellent service. It was above my expectations.
Excellent service and a great experience.
Excellent food excellent service would recommend it before the theatre
Service was quick and smooth which we weren’t expecting with it being a pre theatre menu, food was absolutely incredible, our waiter was so attentive and helpful, what a refreshing experience - we will definitely be back!
Booked afternoon tea as a present. Enjoyed on the whole however would make the following points: The English breakfast tea was a teabag (other afternoon teas have provided loose leaf). We were not asked if we wanted any topups of tea. The fruit scones were a little overbaked. They didn't have any peach schnapps for a Bellini
First time eating there and will definitely be back! Really enjoyed everything about it. Thank you
Food and service was excellent, so good we booked for our next theatre visit in two weeks.
The food and service was again excellent on our recent visit, but you really need to address the terrible draught that blows through during this bad weather, our party of 6 asked to be moved twice until we could feel comfy, and the same happened on just me and my wives visit last month.
Excellent food, fabulous mixture of classic textures and taste ! Keep up the great service........please! MC-H ;-)
Excellent service throughout
A lovely pre theatre meal. Would recommend and will certainly return.
The waiting staff were an absolute delight: courteous and efficient.
As always, an excellent pre-Theatre experience!
Lovely food and great service!
