About Pieminister Cardiff - St Mary St
Award-winning pies and soft serve sundaes in laid-back surroundings with great music and a well-stocked bar: pie and ice cream feasting doesn’t get better than this.
We were given seats right next to the toilets despite the front of the restaurant having a lot of free available seats. When we received our food, we were given a bowl of raw dry cabbage which was advertised as “coleslaw”. The pies were burnt and definitely not value for £10 especially when you can go to places like miller and carter and get a 3 course high end meal for £15.
Loved the vegan milkshake
Looking forward to taking the family as usually great and quick service. Unfortunately this isn’t what we got on the day. Our reserved table was given to a walk in which meant waiting for 20 mins at the door. From being sat down, and food being delivered took 50 minutes. Once food was served we had no cutlery, I myself had to go collect it only to find there were no clean forks so we had to wait another 5 minutes for forks to be given. Cokes were also flat. You could see others were also getting fed up having to wait so long to be served therefore general atmosphere wasn’t great.
Food and service was amazing! Will definitely be coming back
The mash is life!
Although our pies came out mixed up, which caused confusion as we were all sharing different pies, the staff really could not have been more helpful when trying to resolve the issue. I would definitely return based on the fantastic service we recieved
Took a little time for order to be taken, nice cup of tea and excellent food, waitress cleared away my plate whilst my wife was still eating
Very disappointed with the service and the fact they were not offering their full festive menu despite us paying a deposit for that menu and it only being 3.30 in the afternoon. We went for our Christmas meal last year and loved it and that's why we booked again this year but we will definitely not be coming back next year. We were the only table in the entire restaurant, service incredibly slow resulting in thirsty diners and cold 'hot choc pudding'.
Special requests on online booking - ignored! Rubbish wheelie bins dragged through front of house dining area when customers eating - very bad hygiene issue here !
Excellent service anf food
I'm not sure of his name but the Italian waiter was so friendly and accommodating!
Really good service on a very busy day. Food was lovely
Everything as great as ever, not sure constant rave music was the right choice as background noise though!
Great food, great service and great pies!! Will definitely return!
Great service. Lovely food but could do with more gravy next time!
Staff were great and nice. Not sure if someone hadn’t turned in or management need to invest in another server, but service took a while. Food was v nice when it turned up!
Awful service, unfriendly staff, cold food, a lot of food unavailable, atmosphere was uncomfortable, the room was cold and the dessert was virtually inedible.
The food took nearly an hour to be served which was disappointing, especially as there were very few patrons in the restaurant. The waitress was sweet but very inexperienced and the food had a very sour cranberry sauce all over it which would have been better on the side as it was quite strong.
Nice enough place and food was fine...but it was a long wait for our food then when we had finished they only cleared half of the plates. Instead of coming back and asking if we wanted desserts (which we did as it was our sons birthday) they just presented us with the bill. By this point we decided to leave and get dessert elsewhere as we had had enough. Totally let down by the service so will not be returning.
We had the £5 mothership deal which was amazing value for money. However, from the second we walked in the service was some of the worst we have received in any restaurant or even bar. The menus were thrown on the table and when we asked if there was any restrictions on the deal the waitress said ‘Well it’s the mothership deal.... on pies..’ and then just walked away. It was laughably terrible service and we couldn’t believe we had been spoken to that patronisingly when we were just trying to clarify. The staff were also on their phones all the time, including when we tried to wave down to order they were all stood laughing at something on a phone. They were not even trying to hide. Midway through the mains was when we had to tell them our name because they hadn’t even properly greeted us on our way in. The manager didn’t seem to care about any of this including joining in on the phone situation. They also stood rolling almost directly over where our cocktails were being made!! We weren’t ever going to come back as we had awful service last time too, and we only came back because of the deal being so good. We can honestly say we would never go back no matter what the deal was - you’d get better table service in ‘Spoons!!
Amazing food, friendly service, nice chilled atmosphere
Fab quick service at luncb, perfect for when you're short on time
Very friendly service. Lovely food. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning again.
We really enjoyed our meal, the four of us all had different pies, two of which were gluten free and all delicious! Our only criticism would be that it took approximately 30 minutes after ordering to be told the pie chosen by one of the party was out of stock, we happily changed the order however when it was served a further 40 minutes later it was luke warm at best. We asked the waitress to heat it up which they did however upon bringing it back once the rest of the table had finished their meals, we were told it was now at 88 degrees however recieved no apology for this inconvenience. We were quite disappointed by this but nevertheless enjoyed our meal.
