About Pieminister Bristol Broad Quay
Award-winning pies and soft serve sundaes in laid-back surroundings with great music and a well-stocked bar: pie and ice cream feasting doesn’t get better than this.
There should be a Pieminister in every city! Always enjoy the food here and happy hour is an additional bonus.
The music in the restaurant was far too loud, we could hardly hear each other! I think it's great to have background music but it should be in the background. When we didn't order straight away on arrival we seemed to be forgotten about and so had to desperately try and attract attention so we could order our food. A shame as the staff seemed friendly and the food was delicious. The overbearing music would put me off coming back though.
When we arrived to the restaurant, the tables hadn't been moved together to treat our reservation as a group, but left as they are normally set in the restaurant. Then we were left on our own. My guests were not offered any drinks and we served our own water (staff didn't bother giving a hand even after seeing this). We had preordered the food and there were mistakes when being served on the tables. When my guests asked for whatever was missing/was wrong, they were blamed for the error and treated rudely. Again, there was barely any service after serving the food, we were left on our own. If you are going to charge a compulsory 10% service fee for large bookings, that is completely understandable, but there needs to be some service for the guests.
Nothing wrong with the food, very nice but there was something wrong with the service... After we had been given the food, no-one checked if we were ok, half an hour after we had finished our food we gave up waiting for the table to be cleared we went up to the counter and asked for the bill. (We did want a pudding and another drink but no-one came over so left it). After bringing the bill over we asked the server about paying via card he said "give me a minute and will bring the card machine over". He then proceeded to another table instead and took their food order. We went up to the bar again and asked to pay. Every other table had been attended to apart from ours event though we were one of the first customers in the restaurant.
We had a fab pre theatre lunch at Pieminister. Great food, reasonably priced in pleasant surroundings. Would highly recommend. Child friendly too x
Staff were really friendly and seemed to enjoy their work.
Had a fantastic meal before watching the lion king, friendly staff and lovely food will be returning again in the future
Great value for money, excellent service
Music a bit too loud for me, but everything else was great.
Ian was very helpful, cheerful and friendly! Pies were lovely, was a bit of a draft when the door was open, little bit chilly! Other than that, excellent!
Brilliant service, food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.
We had to wait 30mins for a drink and 1hr 30mins for our food. No explanation or apologies offered by staff. Food was good when it finally arrived.
Scrumptious pies but very slow service
Sunday Best was great value! Definitely recommend. Service was a little slow and they got our drinks order wrong, but it was very busy. All sorted with no fuss. Cant wait to go back
Wait staff were quick to come over to take drink and food orders which is good. However, after drinks and foods were delivered the wait staff didn't come over at all. We were interested in having dessert but it didn't seem the wait staff were interested in coming over despite trying to catch their eye we left. Perhaps it was a Sunday night before 9pm and they would be closing at 9.30pm. Food was great and the atmosphere was lively so a great place for a casual dinner.
I would have put zeros where I've put ratings of one if possible. We had originally booked our table for 6.15 as we had tickets for the hippodrome for 7.30. Traffic was good which meant we actually got to the restaurant at 5.35, and luckily there was a table ready - good start, or so we thought. We ordered diet cokes all round and they came pretty quickly however unfortunately it became apparent that the syrup had run out in the dispenser tap. The waiter did change these for us with no quibbles which we appreciated. It took a while for anyone to then come and take our food order, about 15 minutes which was frustrating but we thought perhaps it was just because the restaurant was busy. Eventually we did order our food just after 6pm, yet it wasn't until almost 7pm that we received anything. In the meantime, more groups arrived and were told that it would be a 30 minute wait for food, then shortly after a 45 minute wait. This wasn't something that was communicated to us at any time during our visit At no point did any member of staff come to tell us our food was delayed or apologise for the wait. Quite often, two of the three members of waiting staff could be seen behind the bar with seemingly nothing to do, as the food bell was ringing very infrequently. Eventually a member of our party went to the bar to ask where our food was, considering we had been waiting almost an hour and luckily the food was brought over then, although there was still no apology for the wait. The standard Pieminister pies were great, as was the mash and loaded fries. Unfortunately the peas were quite hard and seemed if they had been sat around a while, and the Captain Nemo (fish pie) was bland and boring. The menu said there would be prawns but only one was found. We ate our food quickly and went to pay the bill at the bar instead of waiting for someone to come over. Luckily we had a £5 voucher, as if we didn't have this we would have felt affronted at having to pay the full bill for such terrible service. Whilst we were waiting for our food, we overheard the table next to us (who had come in about 10 minutes after us) ask for their food as they also had tickets for the hippodrome, only to be told very vaguely 'it won't be long but we can't rush the chef, and there are several other tables in the same position.' For a restaurant directly opposite the hippodrome, it really isn't encouraging to encounter this attitude, and really just summed up our experience at Pieminister. We will not be returning.
We had a great lunch - pies are amazing and the service was great. Highly recommend
Beautiful pies, good value but oh so slow service!
Brilliant all round! Thank you
The waitress forgot to bring one of two desserts, in fact hadn't ordered it. Then spilt the remains of tea in a teapot over my friends white trousers. I wasnt there when it happened as I would have expected more of a response from staff. Hard to get attention to pay the bill. The pies are great.
Best pie and mash in Bristol!
Music was very loud.
Brilliant food and service with our large group, thanks!
We were a large party of 12. We had pre-ordered and when we arrived our waiter told us the fridge had broken over the weekend so we had to re-order. Our waiter was very polite and accommodating and didn't charge us for desserts to make up for the fact our order was messed up. It made for a great value and tasy meal!
