Located a few minutes south of the Gyle in Edinburgh, Philly's offers quality food and drinks in a beautifully decorated, modern venue.
Service terrible, 40 mins and our drinks hadn’t even arrived, 30mins later over cooked cold food arrived. Not a pleasant experience but this seems to be the norm, not enough staff, a limited menu and badly cooked food.
Food and drink were excellent, though I was disappointed the buffet with sandwiches and salads is no longer available (please update your website, Philly's and could some interesting salads be added to the menu?). Service excellent, and surprising given some feedback I've seen, so you've obviously tried to address, though the restaurant was nowhere near busy, being Tues lunchtime. Quite pricy but good quality and very fresh.
Fantastic service and food as always - amazing! Thanks guys!
The two big tables were already taken and a row of three round tables wasn't ideal. But food and service were great. Thanks.
First time here and really enjoyed it, would recommend and will definitely be back. X
Very slow service. Orders not correct when they came out. Macaroni cheese didn’t taste of anything. Other food was lovely.
Food was good and was satisfied with what we received . I would however say tiny elements adjusted on dishes would turn it from good to outstanding and wanting to come back more often
Went for lunch. We had booked table for 12.30pm. It was 1.20pm before we got our food. As this was our lunch break we won’t be going back. Too long to wait for food.
Service was very friendly and helpful, however was far too slow. We waited approx 40 mins from ordering to recieving food and this was only after staff had been asked. As a work lunch I would have reservations about returning for this reason only. Food was great and reasonably priced.
Enjoyable Lunch with lovely staff in attendance. Would definitely go back. Nice bright and airy establishment with beer garden terrace at front of restaurant, lovely on a summers day.
First time visiting with a few work colleagues with a view to organising a bigger team night out. Lovely friendly welcome, however it transpired that this single person was managing all tables by herself so service was very slow, and this just seemed to indicate poor management for an early Friday evening as all tables were trying to get her attention. The bar team got the first drinks order wrong so this again added to the poor evening. Food was underwhelming for the price. The only saving grace was the single lovely waitress who was very apologetic whenever we tried to flag her down. Unfortunately we will now look elsewhere for our team night out.
We recently held a work BBQ on Friday 28 June. Stuart Smith the manager was who I organised this through and was a pleasure to deal with throughout the full process. We had 133 staff attend the event. The food was absolutely fantastic and the team all commented on how great it was. Value for Money - There was no scrimping on quality as the burger and chicken burgers were huge and extremely tasty. Best burger I have had in my opinion, So much so I am thinking about heading back over for another burger very soon. Stuart is one of the most hard working managers I have ever witnessed in a pub or as an event manager (I have organised a number of corporate events) having to first of all manage all of the staff on the day but then cook and serve the BBQ then once that was done he was changed and then behind the bar serving drinks. Some staff were new that day filling in as they had lost some staff that week so he had to bring them up to speed quickly. He never stopped for a minute the full time we were there. I do hope the Phillys leadership team are aware of how hard he works. A pleasure to deal with and we will certainly be back for future work events. Thank you Stuart for helping me organise this event. Also a mention to the lady that was on the arrival drinks bar for us and handed out our ice creams , she was so polite and friendly and also a pleasure to deal with. Big thumbs up to Phlly's. Thank you, Melanie Meikle
the guys were short staffed - but we still had excellent and prompt service.
Was quite quiet but the service was good and I enjoyed the food. Food prices weren’t too expensive and I would consider a return visit in the future.
Lovely place & food would recommend and will be back.
Food was lovely and good value
All the staff we encountered were new , but lovely . They couldn’t answer a lot of questions on menu , not their fault they should have been briefed ! Menu lacks sandwiches, especially as I’m veggie , menu quite limited . It’s a huge improvement on Ritz , but you need a coffee cake 🍰 choice for people doing drop in meetings .
So friendly and helpful. delicious food.
The wait for food was unacceptable, waiting for nearly 1.5 hours. The majority of your clientele will be office based with an hour lunch break, if you are unable to cater to this need, it should be explained on booking. Once food arrived it was great.
We really enjoyed the food and service however we were in the table in the window with the sun directly on us and it was incredibly uncomfortable to the point we rushed our food to leave - I would suggest you don’t use this table on sunny days!
Great service and good today, will definitely come back.
The Staff couldn't do enough for us they were very helpful and the food was very fresh. The bar was very busy but didn't put us off having our event. Will definitely book again. Thanks Philly
Much better than it's predecessor, the Ritz, handy for the business park.
Pre ordered the day before, I was on an hour lunch. I informed the staff when arrived. I was still waiting for my food 45mins later. I chased with staff serval times. When my order came it was hot, but no cheese on the steak sandwich. I had to Woolf it down to make sure I was back at work on time. Worst of all I had to leave my 72 year old mother, by her self eating her food. Management were kind to give me it on the house, but there is still a long way to go to get great customer service. I have heard a few negative comments about service in the office at work.
