Located a few minutes south of the Gyle in Edinburgh, Philly's offers quality food and drinks in a beautifully decorated, modern venue.
Food and service were great - lots of options. Tends to be quiet on Saturdays. Don’t think many people who live nearby (Gogarloch, South Gyle, Corstorphine) are actually aware of this new restaurant, which is a shame.
Hi guys. Thanks so much for accommodating our work get together. We had a great time and the space we had was excellent! We will be back 😀
This is twice we've been over in the last two weeks now and both times have been great. We sent our order in advance and it was ready for our arrival.
Would be better to have some original sandwich fillers and soup such as lentil etc.
Good to have a local place to go for lunch again. Great food.
was a great location for our team celebration, the staff were quick and food and drink on offer was great.
Very pleasant first visit. Excellent gin collection in the bar and lovely service. Manager of the evening could not have been more helpful. Excellent experience.
Myself and 4 colleagues popped in for lunch. Service was great as was the food. We intend on being regulars... 5 out of 5
Had a much better experience this time, could still do with some fine tuning but would definitely come back again based on the most recent experience.
Nice lunch. Given the bill for the table next to us (easy mistake to make) which was quickly checked and rectified with apology from friendly staff. Perfect way to handle it...well done to your team!. 3 at our table, for 1pm booking. food & drink order taken quickly and delivered in good time. Happy to recommend.
Food was great, really nice inside and reasonable prices. My only criticism is the length of time waiting for food is far too long. We ordered immediately on arrival and the food did not come until 45 minutes later (sandwich&soup and a margharita pizza). Appreciate it was busy but we were late back from our lunch break as a result.
Great team lunch out - glad we booked though as it was pretty busy on a Thursday lunchtime
Was a bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews but clearly they've taken on board the comments!. We were a table of 10 and once seated, our drinks order was taken right away, leaving us time to look at the menu. Our drinks arrived our food order taken and it arrived in good time. The food itself was good - not an extensive menu (which I like to be honest), but everything you would expect for a lunch. Will definitely go back
It was very easy to book. The service was very good, with good options for food and drink available.
Had a lovely afternoon with friends. Food was delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. Beautiful place
Booked a table online for early Thursday which was very simple. This was my first time here with my family. Lovely venue, great staff and the food was outstanding. For me it was excellent value and was pleasantly surprised at the bill. Definitely will be back.
Ideal for a lunch during working lunch hour.
Yesterday was the 2nd visit where we had to send a meal back. The service was incredibly slow. I find the language barrier with the waitresses very difficult. You have to keep repeating what you want to order and most often they note it down wrong. Yesterday it took ages for the drinks to arrive. We ordered 4 steaks, which took over 30 mins? one we had to send back as we requested medium and it came very over done. The waitress didn't know what rare was?! I have been a good handful of times since opening. it was brilliant to start but now each visit is getting worse. Even breakfast has gone down hill. I ordered and paid for bacon and egg rolls only to get back to the office to find just egg in the rolls.
Enjoyable breakfast in pleasant surroundings.
Good cheap food served quickly and easy to book online even for a large party.
Bad service from start to finish. Drinks ordered and food came before drinks. Whilst food being brought out we stated we were still waiting (20mins plus) on 2 people's drinks and were told he would come back for the order in an abrupt manner.. I do however think this was maybe a language barrier with the waiter. Food order was wrong, by the time the correct food came the drinks still hadn't arrived. A girl came over (our 4th waitress of the night) and told us drinks took longer due to being fresh juices... I also think maybe a language barrier as we explained we had been waiting on the drinks for over half an hour. My auntie got a 3/4 full cocktail but was that parched by the time it came didn't comment. After our food was cleared (the correct meals were lovely) none of the staff bothered with us asking if we wanted more drinks so we took it upon ourselves to go to the bar and just put it in the table tab. From working in a hospitality environment previously this was a massive missed opportunity in upselling alcohol to a table of 6. Oh also around 8pm on a Friday the bar ran out of bottles of Pinot!! There were 4 bar staff and what I recall 5 waiting staff. We got nothing taken off the £200 odd bill and a slight backwards apology from the girl who told us it took over half an hour for 4 bar staff to make two cocktails because the fruit was fresh. Oh and to top it all off the female toilets were blocked. As someone who works at the NHS at the Gyle I was shocked to find a place that has only been open a month which such shocking low standards of service. Considering the Ritz was rammed most Fridays I think the lack of people in their last night word has already gotten out. I will not be returning anytime soon. I also put this on fb and had a few comments from friends stating the same with the service. Really really disappointed.
The restaurant is spacious and a nice environment to enjoy food and drinks. They have a wide variety of very nice cocktails and the food is nice although not much choice for dinner. The service is very slow and a bit chaotic. No method in the madness of how they bring the drinks out. If you order a cocktail be willing to wait as it can takes ages to arrive. Your group maybe on to their second drink by then. Overall nice place and I hope they can address the service issues.
We ordered several steaks on our table and it went very confusing when they brought the steaks as they didn’t know what was the stage they cooked them. One of the guest had to wait longer as his steak was brought over twice incorrectly. He ask for medium rare and the first guy not the female waiter he said medium and my colleague said I asked for medium rare and the guy said yeah this one, so he challenged him and said but you just said medium. So the meat experience wasn’t great tbh. He was brought 3 steaks as none were cooked as requested. The rest of the nibbles were ok but if the salads are not dressed they should bring olive oil and vinegar as standard.
A planned lunch for a colleague celebrating 30 years service turned out to be an absolute disaster. We were asked to Pre order our food which we done but upon arriving we were advised they couldn't find our order. After many excuses we eventually received half of our food 3 burgers over an hour after ordering. This was followed 10 minutes later by 3 philly steak sandwiches which well left a lot to be desired - essentially some sort of pulled beef with a bit mayo and cheese. The restaurant looks cracking since it has been done up but the service and inability to cook 6 burgers / sandwiches in under an hour and a half is unreal. Many others up and left with pack lunches given from the sandwich counter. I guess they need to give the chef some help as most of the staff were just hanging around with little to do.
Nice Service .cheery staff Some Coat stands would be handy
