About Perrywood Tiptree
Dine at Perrywood Tiptree, an award-winning, family-run destination garden centre. Number three in the UK Garden Centre League Table (Garden Centre Association Jan 2020).
Lunch menu includes hot lunches, ploughmans, quiche and baked potato. Famous for home-made scones, free from and vegan dishes.
Not sure why I have received this email. As you are aware your restaurant was closed when I visited, and will remain so until the lockdown ends.
Restaurant was closed due to coronavirus
Felt very covid safe eating in the restaurant. A few things missing on the menu, perhaps to be expected as the next day we went into 2nd lockdown.
We are pleased tpo hear you felt safe, we have worked hard to ensure staff and customer safety. Wednesday we had a reduced menu to prevent wastage as going into lockdown the following day. Once we can reopen a full menu will be back on.
I am a regular to perrywoods in shop and restaurant although I will still come to shop, It will be a long time before i use your restaurant again. I booked my table for 4, as your web page didnt say anything would be a problem. But on the day your front of house , in no uncertain terms we were told we had to have separate tables , i think the whole shop heard everything she said to us which was very embarrassing.
Thank you for your review , I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your dining experience with us. We are following government guidelines which states you can only dine with people from your own household. This is stated on our website and I can only assume then when asked you said you were from different households which is why we advised you would need to be seated on separate tables in different rooms. I apologies if you felt this was shouted out but it would not have been our intention, as I am sure you can appreciate it is difficult working all day in masks.
The restaurant can get very noisy it does echo a lot.
Due to the new covid restrictions we have had to remove alot of the tables and chairs which would help to dampen the sound.
Keep it up and look after your wonderful team

Having a separate vegan menu was a nice touch.
Thank you, when you visit after lock down you will see our vegan menu has been incorporated into our main but the choice has not been reduced
Under the difficult circumstances that we find ourselves in with this Coronavirus the experience of taking lunch with you was great. staff were very happy to help and guide us. well done for the organisation that has been adopted to enable this facility to continue. Thank you

Excellent as ever., so well organised in relation to Covid. Food is always great & staff very caring. I had a choking fit & was immediately offered care & water & in no time the restaurant manager was in attendance to offer help & support

Food excellent but bit slow taking the order
Thank you for your review, apologies if we were a little slow taking orders on Wednesday. We have kept staff numbers down to ensure distancing on the restaurant floor, plus as I am sure you can appreciate the day before another month lockdown was very challenging for the staff, as they needed to check levels of food with the kitchen between every order.

Always great customer service by helpful polite staff who genuinely seem to enjoy their job. The quality of the food is wonderful and wouldn’t be out of place at an upmarket restaurant. The views are spectacular, the setting is immaculately clean and yet the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. During lockdown the booking process has worked well. Thank you!

Thank you, we used to have toasties and sandwiches on our menu before lockdown, but obviously had to scale our menu down in the situation that we are in.We do sell a selection of sandwiches along with cakes and scones down at our Greenhouse Cafe now .
Really disappointed with seating, despite booking. We were put in a dark corner near a bin when 2 tables were free by the window in the conservatory. I asked if we could swap but told no. Told the earlier I book the more likely I would be allocated a window seat. No facility to request where I sat on the website. No one came to those 2 empty tables for the entire time we were there. What a waste. Spoilt our experience.
It was me who you spoke to and I explained at the time that those tables had reservations on them. We cannot predict customers being late or not turning up, which is why they were empty for your short visit. There is a comment section where you could have requested to sit by a window and we would have done everything we could to accommodate that prior to your visit. Unfortunately this cannot always be done as a request, if you don't like the table when seated, if we can reseat you then we will. I also explained that we have reviewed our booking system as the window seats are most popular so the earlier you book, the more likely you are to get them as they are limited.
Really well organised & COVID-19 safe dining experience. Staff were all lovely and made sure we knew what to do & expect etc. Wasn’t sure what to expect but highly impressed with the changes that have been implemented. Thank you!
