About Pear Tree Inn
A Farmhouse Kitchen with rooms, tucked away in rural Whitley near Melksham, 25 minutes from Bath. With eight contemporary individually decorated en suite double rooms split between the Inn & a beautifully converted barn. An old stone build farmhouse with rug strewn flagstones & reclaimed timber flooring, featuring worn wooden tables with mismatched furniture. The Pear Tree showcases the best local suppliers with a menu guided by the seasons. Beyond the flagstoned bar are two dining areas; the garden room, adjacent to a secluded courtyard; and a large open sunroom with exposed beams and adjacent garden terrace.

Fantastic friendly staff, great food and a lovely atmosphere. I particularly liked the subtle ‘pear’ theme dotted around the restaurant, right through to the pear drops that accompanied the bill.
Love it. It was a quiet evening hence atmosphere mark. But lovely
Fabulous, as usual. Thank you so much.
Been several times for Sunday lunch. This was the best yet. Massive Yorkshire’s always help mind....
Best roast ever !
Although food nicely presented the main course didn't deliver on flavour, over priced .
I loved it Thank you
Really enjoyable meal - good choice of dishes well cooked and presented
We had a great evening thanks. From start to finish your staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble at all. Especially Carlie who put up with our group fantastically and we were very well looked after. The food was also delicious. The only shame was not being able to book rooms for one night only. That would have been perfect if it had been possible. Thank you for a lovely evening.
The Pear Tree has become my local over the last year and is so family friendly, that we don’t feel bad popping in on a Friday evening for a drink with our daughter. Always lots of familiar faces doing the same as us with their children and everyone is really friendly. There’s also lots of couples that use this bar so it has a really nice balance. Great wines and local ciders and always lots of dogs, which my daughter loves. She’s made friends with at least 2. I also visit with friends and their children and the staff are always so accommodating. My friends are also equally impressed on their first visit here. Food is great and really varied so it’s hard to decide sometimes. The cheese board is particularly amazing so I often have this as a main with a fresh bowl of homemade soup in the winter. It’s such a cosy night out in the winter and a lovely summer location with lots of outdoor space and tables. A great all rounder, good quality, higher end restaurant and bar.
Having suffered food poisoning from eating mussels that were served luke warm, I complained and was given a hot portion. Were they fresh or the originals heated up? My co diners were critical of the slow service, and disappointed in the chocolate tart pudding.
Good Sunday lunch
Just superb. We had no children at the weekend so decided we would have a proper grown up meal. We spent a lovely 2 hours enjoying a wonderful meal with very attentive staff despite it being quite busy. Thanks to all the staff, it will be a long cherished memory!!
There were 5 of us for at the table - 2 including me had lamb, the flavour was really nice but we both thought that it was very tough, the other person left some because of this. I was also disappointed that even though the restaurant was fairly empty the staff felt it correct to table everyone together all in one section , table next to table, next to table, making private conversation difficult. Some staff training needed perhaps, including the kitchen.
We had a very enjoyable lunch with generous portions and friendly service.
Very tasty food, great service, though a medium rare steak does not cut and create 'pilling' of the meat. Either our waitress made a mistake or the chef sadly.
Lovely evening to celebrate husband’s birthday. Food was more that expected but the quality and quantity matched the price. We will definitely return because the service was excellent and the atmosphere reflected high quality relaxing environment. Thank you for making the special day outstanding 😁
Very relaxing environment. Generous portions of tasty food that is reasonably priced. Friendly and attentive staff.
Great place, people, food and atmosphere. Hence 5 stars in all categories. Really looking forward to my next visit.
Brilliant Sunday lunch
Only down on service as the bar staff were unable to find our booking although I had the online confirmation. Slightly pricey for fish and chips but it was done properly. A nice environment with good food and the restaurant staff were very friendly and professional.
Lovely afternoon celebrating my husband birthday, all the staff very friendly and helpful especially Jackie who I was in contact a lot with it all being a surprise meal. Thank you
We have had superior breakfasts elsewhere in terms of choice, value for money and service and for this reason we would not recommend the Pear Tree Inn for breakfast to others.
Enjoyed my first visit so much with friends that I took my partner for his birthday ! Friendly welcoming service, excellent food and lovely atmosphere. Brilliant again pear tree, thank you!
Excellent menu choices, really well thought out and delicious. Really nice ambiance and lovely friendly and attentive staff, will definitely be back!
