About AJ'S Bar & Kitchen
Trending street food restaurant. Casual dining and delicious food made with local ingredients!
We waited for a significant amount of time for our order to arrive and when it did it was wrong. This was a repeat of the same problem when we came a couple of months ago. It’s disappointing because the food quality is fabulous, but the service lets it down and makes it then feel expensive and not good value for money.
Very good food food, really enjoyed the brunch menu. Good value for money, would recommend.
Staff very friendly and professional, food was lovely only thing I didnt like was the cracked pepper on the fries but that's my personal choice I still ate them though but overall we really enjoyed it and loved the personal touch for our anniversary
Overall, we really enjoyed the meal. We had to wait a while as there had been an issue in the kitchen which slowed things down.. Enjoyed the wings we had for starters as well the burger and fries although felt that the Onion Rings were over-cooked and probably shouldn't have been sent out like that. Service was warm, friendly and efficient and they did apologise for the time it took for the food to come out. 25% discount on food and soft drinks that is currently running makes coming to AJ's that much more appealing.
Restaurant was smoky to the point where we could hardly see and my kids were coughing and our clothes smelt of the cooking. Was asked if we would like to load up our fries, said yes, asked for chilli beef, no chilli beef left. Asked for steak and peppercorn sauce, no peppercorn sauce left so didn’t bother. Burger was average and strawberry milkshake didn’t taste of strawberry just of ice cream. Was glad I didn’t pay full price for it and got the 25% off.
The food was lovely as alway but the service was shocking. We waited 55 mins for food and they only had another 2 tables in. They never even apologised. Within this time they didn’t even come up to us to ask if we wanted more drinks. The toilets had run out of hand towels and as we were the first sitting it makes think the toilets hadn’t been checked/cleaned, not what I expect with Covid etc. I was also very surprised to see the staff not wearing any PPE.
Waited slightly longer than expected but the food was very nice, I have mentioned to the staff that the booking site is showing you as full before 5pm which you need to sort as you clearly wasn't full when we arrived
excellent dinner. however, downstairs was way too crowded at entrance to feel safe during covid restrictions. there needs to be a queueing system put in place outside.
Unfortunately this was our first ever disappointing visit. We brought friends for the first time and it was a shame that it didn’t live up to the usual standard. They were unable to have the initial drinks they wanted due to the menu being revamped. After ordering our food it took an unusually long time for it to arrive and we were only the 2nd table upstairs and once it did arrive, my order was wrong. I had ordered bao buns , they brought a burger and said that bao buns weren’t available. An apology was given and I had the offer to have something else cooked but I didn’t want to have to wait even longer whilst the rest of our table was eating so accepted the wrong burger with the offer of not having to pay for it. This is such a shame for our friends and ourselves as, although our friends said the food was good they may be put off returning. We feel disappointed about our visit
Had a great evening food was amazing will definitely go again , 10/10 for the lady who looked after us I can’t recall her name but she looked after the whole restaurant while we were there and did an amazing job , I should have tipped her sorry I didn’t Dave
Busy little place, so a while to wait for food. Nice atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Clean toilet upstairs (despite broken toilet seat). Asked for all our burgers well done. I mean, I really stressed this to the waitress by stating, ‘ I mean really really well done, ok?’ and the burger came pink in the middle. Looked dark an well done on the external but PINK on the inside. Needless to say I didn’t eat my burger! Chips for my tea that night! The staff were kind enough to knock my meal off the bill. However, I won’t be going back any time soon.
Came for a friend's birthday meal. Not from the area and first time eating here, amazing food, definitely come back again! I'd mentioned to the staff it was my friends birthday when I booked and they arranged a plate with happy birthday written on in chocolate sauce with some brownies! Great service
I think the kitchen or waiting staff lost our order or we were forgotten about. We were waiting almost an hour for our food, then were offered another table's starter as there was confusion with the order. We were also left waiting for our son's meal after we received our food. That meant our food went cold and as any restaurant staff should know - its more ideal to get children's food out first, especially after a long wait time. Not once did any member of staff apologise for the delay or ask how our visit was. Luckily we visited during Eat out to help out or I would have been very disappointed with the food and service.
The staff were all so lovely and accommodating. The food is great! The music was fairly loud but overall it was really enjoyable
Great atmosphere great burgers... kids loved it
The service was very slow. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food and we had pre booked a table. The burgers had gristle in them. Poor quality meat. Won't go again.
Arrived to be told table had been given to someone else and we either had to wait and hour, or sit where everyone who walked in would wait.
I understand distancing and covid issues and the Monday to wednesday it will be busier however 30 minutes to get a drinks order and then an hour and 15 to get the food and my chicken burger was a little pink inside which kind of put me off my meal
First time dining here, the food really wasn’t good at all, my partner ordered the Bang Thai D burger and the fish was overcooked, not even slightly, but by a lot. My sons chicken burger was massively over cooked too. The sticky toffee pudding wasn’t good, there was no toffee sauce to accompany it either? And I’m sure my sons ‘ice creams was actually sorbet. Luckily used the 50% off scheme, I’d have been annoyed if I’d have paid full price. Staff were great on the other hand. We unfortunately wouldn’t return.
Great food service brilliant Only thing that was wrong was first things we all ordered you didn’t have but chose something else which. Again didnt have but as very busy not a major issue just would have been nice to have been told before ordering . Would not stop us coming back at all though xx
Lovely. Will be back again :)
Went with my daughter to take advantage of the Eat Out offer. Had a great evening. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was excellent Sloppy Joe Nachos, AJ’s Burger & a Smokehouse burger, both were excellent. Chilled out atmosphere makes it easy to eat and talk. Will definitely be back. Also had 4 x cokes and the bill came to £21, with the eat out discount. 10/10
First time I’ve been, it was lovely, the food was spot on, will definitely be back.
Food amazing and so cheap with the eat out to help out. We were one of the first customers and felt there was a slight atmosphere with the staff, as if one had just been told do do something. It didn’t ruin our experience and we’ll be back
Service very slow especially drinks service. We had to ask where our order was. The waiter then had to come and re take it as it was lost.
