Spectacular food and lovely warm personable service. Always a joy to eat here, only wish we could more often!
As someone who is an avid foodie who travels the world to experience cuisines and moved to Belfast from London only last year, I realise fine dining has it's own style and portions, but for a 6 course meal each course portion including the main was tiny! It doesn't matter how good the food is (and it was decent, but nothing super special), when you pay for 6 courses you expect to be fed fairly and not feel the need to go to McDonald's at the end of the night! This is the very basic of any restaurant to build on. We were left quite perplexed a bit annoyed that the portions were rather small. The main beef chatueaubriand was very tasty but only had 1 tiny short, thin slice of beef each. You could easily put 2 or 3 there. The wine pairing were quite rushed and even though we had only just about taken a couple of sips of each wine, the waiters brought and poured a new course glass just mins after previous course was poured. We literally felt compelled to down our wines! This certainly wasn't the £60 + £38 wine per person we paid. Don't skimp on the basics folks if you want to be perceived as an upmarket fine dining restaurant. Once you get those right then build on that.
Food, staff and experience superb, as always! Such a shame that the restaurant, like so many others, is having to close yet again. I am so looking forward to returning later next year. We'll done to all at Ox, and beat wishes for 2021!
Excellent food as always, wine pairing exceptional.
We went for the tasting menu and wine pairing. This was yet again an unbelievable dining experience. The staff were all very attentive without being too in your face like some places. The food was exquisite. This was a real treat. Can’t wait to go back.
Never had a bad meal at Ox. Excellence without pretension, quality without inflated prices. Would eat there every week if I could.
Excellent, as always. Superb food and first class staff. Best restaurant, by some distance, in the whole of Ireland. I will be back again soon.
Wasn’t particularly festive in the restaurant. However the surroundings are very pleasant.
Sensational as always, wouldn’t expect anything less. Wonderful service complete with a laugh & always smiling. Food was sublime and matching wines were perfect. Can’t wait to return!!!
It was sublime, thank you!
Consistently top class
Food, atmosphere and service was absolutely fantastic. Only tried the one of the wine pairing for the dishes and it really complemented the dish. I have never paid that much for food which is why I only gave four stars. Though there wasn't a bad course and I have recommended to every foodie I know. Favourites were the OX tongue and the Duck breast dishes.
Superb food, beautiful wine and great use of seasonal produce. We’ve been eating at Ox since it opened (usually to celebrate special occasions) and decided it was time for our teenage son to experience Michelin-standard food for the first time. He loved it. We’re lucky to have eaten at some of the best restaurants in London, Dublin and New York, but Ox in Belfast will always be a favourite.
Best restaurant in Belfast by a long way
Thank you for another lovely meal and outstanding service Merry Christmas
Beautiful pre Christmas lunch and afternoon spent here, although actually we were seated in Cave rather than Ox itself It is pricey but feels special so a fab place to treat yourself if you like beautifully flavoured and presented food
Lovely staff! Felt very safe in the restaurant despite it being a pandemic. The food and wine were exceptional. We had the tasting menu with wine and once we were finished stay on in the cave for some cheese in champagne. Which was lovely! The staff were 10/10 for knowledge, attentiveness and manners.
Those looking in from outside remind you that is a privilege to dine here. Fortunate to be able to do so.
Stunningly good food but only as a very special treat.
A great day out. There is nowhere else i would rather be on a Saturday in afternoon in December
Food and service is exemplary as always.
It is always a delight to dine at OX. The food never disappoints and the service is excellent. James is an excellent ambassador for the restaurant and always with a smile. Great sense of humour. Ambiance is lovely despite Covid-19.
