About Outrage Of Modesty
Redefining Cape Town's cocktail culture.
A hidden speakeasy tucked discreetly above a historic warehouse on Shortmarket Street with a shrine dedicated to the art of the reimagined cocktail — a constrained ceremony celebrating flavour and ingredients over hype and theatrics — OoM welcomes its third international head-bartender, Singapore-based Noreen Dunzo to the team.
Bringing innovative Asian creativity and flair to South Africa, Noreen has developed a new menu of eight bespoke cocktails that use local seasonal ingredients to provide imbibers with an unrivalled experience.
Love the interior architecture- creates a beautiful contemporary oriental atmosphere.
Totally loved it! Cocktails are amazing and the tapas style dishes too with an asian flair. The Tom Yum cocktail was divine and packed a punch (just like real Tom Yum soup would). The Pina-Ta was equally delicious. Definitely worth the price you pay for proper, no nonsense and full of flavor cocktails (although not a "fair price" to everyone). We chatted with Noreen for quite a while and that was another highlight of the night, her background, career, etc. Also loved then quiet, intimacy of the venue (maybe this is not to everyone's liking, but it was nice to be able to speak and hear each other). A break away from the mad rush of the city on a Friday night.
Cocktails were mediocre. Expected more for the price. Food options are very limited. Service was slow.
The drinks and snacks were excellent. The service was fabulous and the interior design is beautiful. The only complaint I had is that when booking, the reservation diary/email said we had to leave within 90 minutes of our arrival - but the bar was almost completely empty, so we rushed for nothing. Not a massive problem but something worth mentioning.
We’ve been several times. Love the cocktails and the innovation. Wait staff not up to speed with the concept and the knowledge / charisma at this time though Not to detract. We know the concept and the drinks are amazing
Wonderful service, great menu. Well thought out and a great delivery. The menu is expensive, but worth it.
Definitely coming back next time i'm visiting Cape Town to try the new menu!
Friends have been raving about this place for ages, so when I had the opportunity to visit on a trip from Jozi I had to book. I was told that the entire process of the cocktail making was explained to you. Unfortunately neither our waiter or the host gave this explanation. Don’t get me wrong, the drinks were AMAZING. but for R140 per drink I expect a little more experience.
Spectacular cocktails - nothing like it in Cape Town Wish it were Vibey’r
Brillisnt cocktails. Lovely venue and amazing staff.
One of my favorite new cocktail bars in the world. Thank you!
The cocktail selection was amazing and Kevin was an incredible and friendly bartender! Definitely an experience not to miss in Cape Town :)
Cocktails are fantastic, service is good, but there is only 4 choices of tapas and they aren’t gastronomical at all. A piece of dry trofu soaking in soya sauce, or corn with butter is not gastronomy in my point of view but only a little “en cas”. We were very disappointed by the food proposal. It is a bar, not a restaurant.
Our waitron assisted us in organising a booking with The Shortmarket Club next door, which isn't easy to come by! The cocktails were amazing, a true experience.
An absolute amazing place!!!
Brilliant! What an experience, and completely different from the last time
Great but very expensive
Drinks were full of flavour and pizazz
Went for my 30th and I enjoyed every second I was there. What an awesome experience.
If you are into the minimalism of taste and not bombarded, as we have today of the same/same, or an overload of flavours, then this is for you. Would be nice to have a larger selection of snacks and more cocktails without egg white. I would definitely go again, as long as the cocktails get updated regularly enough.
Fantastic cocktails - some of the best we have ever had. Great atmosphere, brilliant service.
We really enjoyed the cocktails we had. For me, one of the best cocktail throughout the world !!! Cheers
Cocktails were amazing as usual but the lack of menus available online means you don’t know whether or not there will be substantial food available for you to not need to make dinner plans afterwards. For example, the first time I visited there was a tasting menu with 4 cocktail/ food pairings that made for a great night out but this time, we needed to find a place to eat afterwards because there were only 4 small snack options available and we didn’t know this until we arrived.
You have lost some of that special mojo that you had. it was all very bland and kinda boring. It used to be special. I don't think we will be going again.
