About Origins @ Marine
Origins have crafted a menu that offers relaxed social dining in the comfortable surrounds of a modern kitchen-focused restaurant. Whether it is tapas, natural wines and craft beer or a full sit-down dining experience you're after, you'll find it at Origins.
At Origins Small Plates pays tribute to the social act of sharing. Shoots, Stems & Leaves takes inspiration from the earth; local, seasonal produce delivered as complex, delicious salads. Our mains and sides are Hunted and Gathered; each ingredient reflecting our surroundings. Desserts with local flavour bring The Sweetness, and artisanal Cheeses of the Region round out the menu.
Our ‘Chef's Blackboard' will introduce at least 3 new daily dishes to reflect the season, and allow us to champion the exciting fresh produce we find.
We had a superb experience for restaurant week hosted at Origins. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. The best fish cakes we've ever had. Thank you
Delicious food and drinks. Fabulous staff. Loved the open kitchen. Worth a visit or two!
Absolutely amazing. Cant wait to return for more. Thank you
We've done a few restaurants during restaurant week, and thus far the food of Origins surpassed all of our other experiences. The portions were generous, the ingredients outstanding and nothing could be faulted. Everybody was exceptionally friendly. The seating was in an isle, but perhaps to give us a view of the ocean, with other tables in close proximity. This was the only downside in terms of atmosphere.
A superb dining experience, beyond expectation.
Too many light, no ambience
This was our third visit to Origins in last few months and we have never been disappointed. The service is good and the food is consistently great.
Our best meal in South Africa.
So disappointing. The Marine restaurant used to be a place of sophistication it has now become like any of the other restaurants in town. There was no atmosphere and the menu differs so far from the publicity speed it is laughable. Burger and chips, fish and chips, steak, salad. Come on - these are ubiquitous fast food choices
Lovely venue, however food and sevice do not match the 4star atmosphere
Excellent food and service
We ate here twice to celebrate a retirement and 65th birthday - the hotel New about this in advance but, surprisingly, there was no recognition of this. That said, the service by Diana and Siya was excellent. We enjoyed very pleasant meals but nothing that had the Wow factor. Indeed, residents staying for a few days and dining could struggle over the choices on offer. The sirloin steak was not cooked to the requested ‘rare’ temperature but was tasty. The tuna tartare was good as was the line fish. What was a major let down was the absence of a mise en bouche - just two pieces of bread with butter. A restaurant of this standard should have an appetiser worthy of the setting and service.
Thank you for a nice evening
Very Nice staff. Good atmosphere. Food was this time less. Fish was overdone. A pitty.
Very Nice food in a beautiful setting
Very pleasant evening with great food
All dishes on the menu are very spicy. There should be a non-spicy option for those who do not like hot spices.
Great restaurant in a beautiful hotel.
Excellent desserts, rest of menu not reflecting the style of the location.
Not *****. Why are hotel guests paying for their room between 6000 and 11000 ZAR supposed to like high carb/cal average bistro food? Why do you leave your elegant dining room empty? I just wonder who took this decision.
Very good food, great ambiance!
Very nice restaurant food choice a little limited service good and food nicely presented. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others
This was our wedding anniversary lunch. We wish to thank Jaco and his delightful team for making our visit a complete pleasure.
A good restaurant but I thought the service let them down.
