Many years in the restaurant industry has left David attuned to the diner’s experience—eating in his book should be fun as well as pleasantly surprising. His creativity and extensive international exposure combine with a focus on great local ingredients to pave the way for an exciting and innovative dining experience.
Our server newly in Christchurch from Germany was outstanding!
Had a great night with friends. Service was excellent. Lamb rump was pretty average - very grissley in the middle. Meals were 100% on presentation. Desserts were great.
We had a lovely time. Great food and service. Thank you
The service and good were awesome and out waitress really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our long leisurely lunch. Great work team!
We picked Yr restaurant for our wedding venue ..best decision I ever made..service was perfect food fantastic and everything you did in setting up tables just made our day amazing..just want to thankyou for everything..you all did a great job x
Great food - very well priced
The food was lovely, and it is in a great spot next to the river. A great place for a meal.
Service from waiters was slow, the restaurant wasn't busy, we had to wave to get their attention. Food was lovely.
Did miss one beer, but we are ok with that. Seemed quiet in some ways as not particularly busy and may be more so on warmer days and in the evening. Lunch was good, interesting no chicken dish
Amazing food an great service :) coming from a hospitality background an seeing how poorly Christchurch restaurants have got with their service standards this is a fab place :)
I was very disappointed with the wine selection. I choose a sauvignon blanc and was not impressed with the price I was charged, especially as it was a wine I could buy the bottle for the price you were charging for a small glass (the Ned). We felt we were continually interrupted by asking if we wanted another drink etc, etc, etc. Do you not think if we wanted another drink we would be able to get the attention of the waiter as the night wasn't that busy. On a good note, we sat outside and was very impressed with the warmth the heaters gave us. So in that regard the atmosphere was great as was the feel we got when we ventured inside to pay our bill. So we left with mixed emotions to be honest
Awesome service and the rissotto was as good as I expected
Easy booking, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, all our group enjoyed their meals with a good range of beer and wine.
Great food. Fabulous service
The Lamb was overcooked and appeared to have been placed under the heat lamps while other parts of the meal were prepared. The Chicken also was dry. Not what we expected from a restaurant that is setting itself in the upper end of the market.

We are never disappointed with the food and service when we visit this beautiful restaurant 😎
Lovely evening. Service was very attentive and food was delicious. Great menu.
I was given a bottle of wine for my birthday from one of my guests, that the waitress said she’d keep out the back until we leave. I forgot it at the end of the evening and had to go back. In future, maybe there should be a note put somewhere if something is being held, to remind the waiting staff to advise your clientele that they have something to collect.
My family had a lovely night out for a birthday celebration original sin was recommended to us so glad it was it was fantastic wonderful to be back on the strip. The service and food amazing.
Food and service was great and liked the convenience of booking on line.
Really enjoyed the food and service was great. We enjoyed the evening!
Beautiful food. Great service. Cocktail menu could have more variation. It would have been nice to have been offered a coffee toward end of evening. Would absolutely recommend as food was divine and great atmosphere.
It is always nice to come back to Original Sin whether for a business occasion or a private function.
The french waiter we started with got the menu wrong when telling us the specials, we had to ask another staff member. We had 3 or 4 different wait staff, some were fantastic. I had the chicken jerky to start and feel it should have a creamy sauce, even a garlic aioli, I found the chutney it came with fairly average. My pork belly had no crispness on the top at all which was disappointing. My partner had the mussels and we both thought the broth was amazing. He had the salmon for main and thought that was very nice. At the end my partner paid before I got to the counter, I asked straight away if he'd remembered to use the entertainment book. He hadn't and the staff said they didn't know how to correct it so we couldn't use it. They said use it next time but there won't be a next time.
