About Operation Dagger
When it comes to setting an atmosphere of mystery, Operation Dagger scores full marks. Near to the action but not quite, the basement bar is hidden along a back alley at the junction of Club Street and Ann Siang Hill. The entrance – unwashed floor, plain glass door, illegible scribbling on the top – is so nondescript that even the building it’s in doesn’t have a name. It opens to a dingy staircase that leads further down, but it’s the smell that hits you first: an acrid smokiness of burnt herbs.
Headed by Luke Whearty and Aki Nishikura, the bar lies under a cloud of light bulbs and against a backdrop of shelves, on which stand rows of tinted bottles labelled with a grid of faded drawings. (One of the indifferent bartenders explains that they’re a code for each liquid.) In 2015 alone, Operation Dagger was voted Best New Bar at the Singapore Bar Awards and came in the top ten for Best New International Cocktail Bar at Tales of the Cocktail. Proof is in the pudding or, in this case, every one of the duo’s multi-sensory concoctions.
super cool drinks and bartenders! had a great time there
Really amazing to watch the mixologists make the cocktails, the bartender was incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed talking to him!
Second visit to operation dagger and the friendly staff never disappoint. Love their cocktails and would recommend this place for a good catch up with friends at a “hidden” part of town. Managed to give a surprise to my wife for our anniversary. Will come again!
The cocktails were amazing and very unique, and the bartenders were great and friendly.
Operation Dagger is the kind of bar that you would visit in a BladeRunner movie. Symbolism abounds throughout, from the dusty neon adorning the walls to the oddly hatched bottles displayed behind the bar, silently communicating in a language that is impossible to decipher unless you are in the know. The bar team are friendly welcoming and go about their business intensely. The drinks are some of the best we have had here in Singapore, a testament to their commitment of combining interesting techniques and unique flavours. If Rick Deckard walked in, put his gun on the bar and ordered a Red Eye - I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid.
Amazing drinks. Best service in SG
Had an amazing time. Go and enjoy the experience.
Great funky and unique cocktails in a great speakeasy!
Great place....as always
The drinks were not very strong and expensive. I liked the space. But, I do not think that I would visit again.
Amazing first time to Operation Dagger for me. My friends and I had tons of fun and good drinks because of your lovely bartender, Eugene. Hope to have him tend to our table again the next time we're there!
Bartender should be more engaging and conversationalist...
Operation Dagger was amazing! The staff was overly accommodating and the drinks were amazing!! Even the food was some of our favorite of the trip. Thanks for everything!
All the staff here was amazing. One of the best experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world, and I’ve been to many. This bar makes me want to come back to Singapore. Thanks guys!
Exotic cocktail in an isolated space. Both blended into a perfect Friday evening. Flavours were beyond what I have experienced before and I will be looking forward to tasting more.
It's easy to see why Operation Dagger is considered one of the best cocktail bars in the world. The drinks were incredible, and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
third time visiting - consistently friendly staff and great drinks. good for atmosphere and low key drinks with mates
Amazing service and creative food and drinks
Love the vibe of the place - music and all
The service from the minute we stepped in was perfect. The drinks were made with flair and tasted great. We loved the suggestions given to suit our taste buds as well. Once the crowd started kicking in, the space was somewhat claustrophobic. Owing to the reputation, an expansion could help maybe!
