About Operation Dagger
When it comes to setting an atmosphere of mystery, Operation Dagger scores full marks. Near to the action but not quite, the basement bar is hidden along a back alley at the junction of Club Street and Ann Siang Hill. The entrance – unwashed floor, plain glass door, illegible scribbling on the top – is so nondescript that even the building it’s in doesn’t have a name. It opens to a dingy staircase that leads further down, but it’s the smell that hits you first: an acrid smokiness of burnt herbs.
Headed by Luke Whearty and Aki Nishikura, the bar lies under a cloud of light bulbs and against a backdrop of shelves, on which stand rows of tinted bottles labelled with a grid of faded drawings. (One of the indifferent bartenders explains that they’re a code for each liquid.) In 2015 alone, Operation Dagger was voted Best New Bar at the Singapore Bar Awards and came in the top ten for Best New International Cocktail Bar at Tales of the Cocktail. Proof is in the pudding or, in this case, every one of the duo’s multi-sensory concoctions.

Made a reservation but was seated at the bar. Was only informed on arrival that tables are only for a group of 4 due to lack of tables. Good for drinks but not a cozy dining experience.

They wouldn't let us make a reservation after 930, and this being a bar, hmmm.. won't most people go after 930? So this reservation service is quite useless, really.
Its really expensive. Other than the ambience, I dont think i can find a second reason to go there.

A little hot and noisy... was expecting a little more from the drinks too.
Service was great as the mixologist explained the cocktails menu and gave us recommendations based on our preferences. Certainly a lot of thought that went into creating the cocktails and fermenting their own alcohol. Looking for the place was a thrill as there isn't a clear signboard and it's literally underground. Stairwell reeked a little though. Overall a great experience and will definitely recommend it!
The atmosphere of this bar is awesome however the music was blaring in my ears so it's almost impossible to carry out a decent conversation with friends. We ordered some bar snacks as well and it seemed more fine dining to me than your typical bar grub. I think the focus should be more on the fancy cocktails, less on the food. If I wanted a sophisticated dining experience, I would have gone to a restaurant. Tone down the music and food and this place is rock and roll
