About Opal Restaurant at Radstone Hotel
The Opal Restaurant and Bar at The Radstone has a open airy feel to it, with glass panels framing fantastic views of the clyde valley and surrounding countryside. The use of contrasting colours and neutral walls complete the vibrant atmosphere.
We have been coming to the Radstone Opal restaurant for several years now and feel that the food is not as good as it used to be. I had lasagne which was swimming in oil and had been in the oven for ages as pasta was crisp. Husband had beef which was tough. Very disappointed as celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday and was supposed to be a treat. The waitress was very sullen and could not care less.
Amazing service, great staff , delicious starters and mains for 8 people . Everyone of us having a different starter and main course, and no complaints with any food served. Piping hot and beautiful presentation. Very accommodating and courteous, friendly staff in dining area. Would definitely recommend and be back . Well worth the visit and value for money, quality of ingredients evident . Can’t fault our dining experience
Quite disappointed in the food ,ordered ribs as a main and they were just a lump of grissle ,we understand the nature of a rack of ribs but a chef should have never have served these up as you could clearly see there wasn’t really any meat on them
good food friendly staff
The food was very bland compared to previous visits with same meals purchased. The calamari special was also overpriced for 5 small rings. The service was quick for a saturday night which was great.
Very nice dining area with lovely views.
Very nice food in nice relaxed setting, good service.
The starter of the prawn and crab fishcake was very poor, 3 very chewy prawns, very heavy on the mash and no crab at all! The main of the chicken with brie and cranberry was however good. One of the most annoying and disappointing things was the tv screen showing sport!! A choice needs to be in this aspect, your either a place for a 'dining experience' (if the fishcake could be sorted out) or just another 'pub' serving mediocre food with tv sport as the attraction!! On the whole it was a very disappointing experience and not one we would repeat or recommend to anyone.
Great customer service. Lady behind bar (nice tattoos) sorted out with no quibble re my cocktail. Thanks ! Scones were toasted strange ? Tea in pot first class. Sandwiches lovely. Cakes good. Need some plants or fresh flowers in restaurant just to give it some warmth and flair. Karin Thorburn
Very enjoyable dinner to celebrate my birthday with my partner, brother and his wife. Excellent evening in pleasant surroundings, great food and highly competent and friendly, professional service. Thank you.
Unfortunately on this occasion we were disappointed with the quality of the food and value for money.
I had a lovely time with my group at your restaurant. Food was really nice and service excellent. Only quibble I have is that your menu looked more fast fare rather than indicative of the actual quality that you serve
Visited the ladies toilets just before we left and can only say they were discussing to say the least. Obviously they are not monitored. They had be a wedding and I would have been appalled if it was my daughters wedding.
We go to b/b and evening meal at least once every month and can honestly say this Hotel is one of the best, staff are very nice and food is excellent cocktails are even better ha ha
We enjoy coming to the Radstone but I have a couple of suggestions/ comments... we booked lunch and it would have been good for one of my friends to have had more salad options. In future I will ask for a table rather than the booths as on two recent visits my mother-in-law and then an elderly friend with a walking stick found it a bit tight and they struggled to get into and out of their seats. Otherwise I think it’s a very good venue.
Great dinner as usual .Food and service both excellent .Will be back soon .
We had the dinner/accommodation deal but were charged for dinner. Breakfast was chaos and the staff didn't seem to understand the service, I was asked which kind of toast I wanted only to be told when I had almost finished my very oily breakfast that I had to make my own toast. The breakfast on day 2 was inedible. We will not be back here again.
Food was great, some of the decor needs a touch-up, was rather warm in the restaurant. Some staff need a bit more knowledge of the menu.
Good value for money
Hotel was fabulous fantastic views from restaurant we had a suite very spacious excellent quality furniture and fixtures only let down was the food we had at dinner I had salmon one piece was cooked the other under cooked my partner had a burger which was in what looked like a nap roll way to big for its contents he said it tasted fine I did tell the waiter and he offer to remove it from the bill but as we were there on a offer I opted for a free dessert would go back again as all staff we very friendly and helpful.
Great meal with my family. Food was fantastic, good value for money & excellent service. Looking forward to visiting again soon
When we saw how busy the car park was we were afraid lest the kitchen might be overwhelmed. But no, the preparation time for each course was quite acceptable. Service was excellent. My wife much appreciated your gluten-free menu. The food was very tasty, well presented and the portions were of a good size without being overwhelming.
Went on a Monday night for the grill offer of a main and 2 x sides for £10.95pp. Food was delicious, service was prompt and staff were friendly and attentive. Will defo return.
Service was appalling, we had to find a member of staff to get a menu for dessert 30 minutes after finishing our main course. We were overcharged on our bill , the atmosphere was nowhere near what we have come to expect from The Opal restaurant. We understand when there is a large wedding on things can be a bit slower however, Sunday was unacceptable.
