About On The Green
Family run independent modern British restaurant serving seasonal, local where possible, produce with good but not stuffy service. Located in a beautiful grade 2 listed building which has been lovingly restored. We also brew our own beer.
A lovely restaurant with good food, lovely ambience and attentive service. Wouldn’t hesitate recommending this little gem.
A fantastic evening as always! We've been going to On The Green since they first opened, and long may they continue.
The food was amazing and really high quality. The staff were attentive, didn't rush us and made us feel welcome. Great night to celebrate my husbands birthday.
Had a fantastic dinner with a group of friends in the private dining room. Everyone raved about the food, wine choice was excellent and we were well looked after. We will definitely be back!
Great food and wonderful service. Always have a lovely evening whenever we dine at On The Green.
Fantastic as always...looking forward to Jazz On The Green in November!
We enjoyed the meal. Many thanks Bob & Ange
Superb menu. Superb quality. Always something different and in season.
This was an anniversary celebratory meal and every little touch was a delight. We have been to OTG on three or four occasions now both by ourselves and with family. It’s become our favourite place for eating out. Spoilt for choice re the menu and with friendly but not overly familiar service we can not recommend anywhere better for that special occasion. We will be back sometime soon and of course they know we will - the whole experience is delightful.
Always fabulous food and service, our first time at the new monthly jazz night and we had a brilliant time! Great music and atmosphere, even had a sing along to some of the tunes we knew, thanks again.
Good menu but thought the main course options were quite wintery. Delicious crab starter and the wood pigeon was lovely too. Great service and fantastic value for money
Excellent menu, food and drink all spot on (including the beer!). Will definitely come again.
As on all previous visits we had a very enjoyable evening. This time, however, one of the main courses was very dry/overcooked. Looking forward to next visit. Ian McRobbie
Wonderful friendly service and first class food, a treat for Stevenage to have a Gem like this.
Each course and the entire evening was simply wonderful! Stunning food and wine, a lovely relaxed atmosphere and brilliant service! Could not fault anything 💙
The Waitrose was very very helpful and we could not have asked for better service - thank you for making the evening so enjoyable .
Thank-you for a splendid evening! Food was fantastic! The menu was very well balanced catered for our Indian guests over for their first time in the UK very well. The food was well presented and I would recommend the house beer any time!
This has to be my favourite restaurant, brilliant staff, fantastic food, what more can you ask for. Love the jazz night as well
The food was delicious and the service was some of the best we’ve ever experienced. Friendly, welcoming and very attentive (without being overbearing). Thank you for a fab night.
The food was excellent but the plates could be less crowded, perhaps by serving the vegetables on a separate dish. However, this is a minor point. When friends get together for a meal there is a lot of talking which results in the food cooling down for slower eaters. The use of hotplates to keep items like, e.g. the veg warmer for longer may be something to consider.
We had another lovely meal at OTG, food & service never disappoint.
All fine - as has been commented on by other reviewers the portion sizes are small although they were fine for us; however makes for an expensive evening if you need 3 courses plus cheese. The ambience is OK unless you are looking for a more romantic evening. Probably will return if going out with a group but it wouldn’t be my first choice especially for a romantic evening out.
Lovely food, great service we will definitely come again
Always love coming back, the food is delicious and the menu changes regularly. The staff are super friendly and happy to help and have a chat. The table is yours for the night so you don't feel rushed at all. Fully recommend that you try and book as soon as you can! You won't regret it.
Starters were nice slightly underwhelming, but the main courses were incredible! Good selection of wines and the service was really friendly. I think the atmosphere could be improved to crate a more intimate, relaxing space, we were a table of 2 so this would have been our preference but larger groups may disagree. I would go back.
