About On The Green
Family run independent modern British restaurant serving seasonal, local where possible, produce with good but not stuffy service. Located in a beautiful grade 2 listed building which has been lovingly restored. We also brew our own beer.
Excellent food, with good choice of vegan and vegetarian options. Well presented, sensible portion sizes, good to look at and eat. Particularly enjoyed the dauphinoise which acommpanied the veggie Wellington. and chocolate pave! Went out of their way to provide food for a friend with allergies. Recommend!
Another great dinning experience, everything was excellent, would highly recommend
It was a very quiet Thursday night. We were the only ones in the restaurant so it was dead. It was also a bit cold in there, had to deploy the fan heater under the table which was a little noisy. Food was ok, some unusual items on menu.
Great to se so many imaginative veggie dishes. Service exemplary.
Waitress was absolutely brilliant! Will definitely return
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience and food. We appreciate the quaintness of the restaurant and the waitress was excellent in her timings and interaction.
An excellent and enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings with friendly and helpful service. We will return.
Thanks Marie - such an improvement from last time - the food is fantastic - interesting menu/perfectly cooked and presented and of course an outstanding selection of beers brewed by Paul - can't get more local than that
Lovey evening great food.
Went to On The Green for Jazz Night with friends, we had a great night, food was lovely and service very good and friendly. We would recommend On the Green.
We had a lovely evening for our daughters 30 th birthday ! Food lovely as was drink and service ! Nice treat !
Lovely meal, staff as always were very friendly. Food was fantastic, my girlfriend and I really enjoyed it
Fabulous food, service ambience , and the beer was excellent also !
Very nice place, only downside was one missing dish on the starters even though it was a limited set menu
Had a very enjoyable evening visiting "On The Green" restaurant. Food and wine was lovely, service very good. Just a little bit pricey for everyday but OK for special occasion.
Dinner Jazz - excellent evening.
Beautiful food and a very friendly and welcoming service through the whole evening, next time we shall make the experience a whole night not just in and out which we both regret now be back soon .
Been here a few times recently and always a lovely time. The menu has some great choices, service is at the right level and of course a sneaky pint of Bottoms Up is always an option. The medley of desserts is a must. Well worth a visit. See you soon ;-)
A totally wonderful evening - real treat - delicious food and perfectly balanced friendly and efficient service. On The Green continues to be a great asset to the Old Town
If I could give 6 stars, I would. Absolutely wonderful food and fantastic service, I cannot fault it. We had a wonderful time here on New Year's Eve and look forward to going again.
We had a really lovely time and celebrated New Year's Eve in style! with a fantastic 8 course meal and brilliant entertainment from Tom and Nate. I fully recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed
Fast and friendly service. Food was very good. Good background music and not too loud, but decor is rather bland.
Lovely meal and welcome as ever - food was perfectly cooked and delicious. It would be nice to see some more full bodied red wines back on the wine list though.
The building is pleasantly Olde Worlde. The decor and fittings immaculate. This restaurant feels special as soon as you arrive, but a high quality fake fire would add a little homeliness and interest; and the lighting, which was a bit cold, could be corrected by a candle or two. The main dish was slightly overcooked - pheasant - while all other items of food and drink were spot on and delicious as well as creative. The complementary - albeit rather small - glass of Prosecco was very welcoming. The room was cold, with just one radiator for a wide area, and we relied on a little fan heater. The table and chairs were nonetheless very comfortable, and there was also no overcrowding of tables. Service was very good - efficient and non-intrusive - and the background music perfectly suited the transition from evening to night time. We would like to return one Sunday - when it is warmer - to experience the live jazz over dinner.
