OKLAVA is a contemporary Turkish restaurant jointly operated by Selin Kiazim and Laura Christie. In Turkish an ‘oklava’ is a traditional rolling pin which is used to make breads, pastries and pides all of which feature on our menu alongside Selin’s modern take on Turkish-Cypriot fare. Our open kitchen act as a theatre stage where guests can sit around the bar and spectate as the chefs use a stone oven and real charcoal grill, known as a mangal in Turkish to prepare their meals.
The food is complemented by a wine list focused on wines of Turkey. The ethos of the list is that wines are selected for their quality first and geographical origin second, we are proud to be showcasing some fantastic wines from the most exciting producers of one of the oldest wine growing regions of the world.
Both Laura and Selin are inspired by the London restaurant scene, flavours from travels and from fellow chefs and restaurateurs. The aim of Oklava is to push traditional boundaries and pull Turkish cuisine out of the kebab shop and onto the London restaurant scene.
The food is as good as always. Oklava'a table management could improve though. I was sat by the service station while four other tables remained available throughout my dinner. I suggest stopping guaranteeing guests certain tables as it's frustrating to literally stare at better vacant tables throughout dinner.
Fabulous meal with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We went for the 7 course menu which was fabulous but a there was a lot of food and the dessert course was beyond me!
Amazing food and exceptional service.
Food is outstanding in lovely friendly surroundings!
The service and food was amazing. In particular our waiter was very friendly, attentive but not intrusive - he was very patient with us as we were dithering with the order. Definitely will go again. Beet & Tarragon gin negroni was amazing almost as amazing as the halloumi!
Everything was impeccable and full of flavour
Lovely food, brilliant service and well worth the money. Will definitely be going again. The only reason I marked down atmosphere was because we went Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too busy but that was perfect for what we wanted
Really helpful and friendly staff, and the food was delicious!
I think I must have message about a dozen friends on my way home from here last night to tell them they had to try this. I loved how unassuming it was. I was able to go up and speak directly with Ms Kiazim a couple of times, and she was exceptionally gracious both times, despite me interrupting a busy dinner service. The flavours she packs into this food was outstanding, and I can't wait to come back.
Great service and fantastic, unique, beautifully prepared food. All in a very relaxed setting.
I think the waitor recommended that I’d order too much. I ordered less than he recommended and had to leave half. But everything was great
Great service, great food, great wine, always consistently brilliant!!
We found the service and food quality to be outstanding. Particular highlights were the helim, bread with date butter and crostini (which is an astonishing, alchemical thing and worth travelling for). Service is attentive without fuss and very friendly. Oh... the Bloody Mary is excellent too!
Value for money I’ve given 4 stars as we felt the wine was expensive. The house wine at £30 a bottle is pricey. Having said that we had a lovely evening, great friendly service and delicious food and will definitely return.
Always a pleasure to visit Oklava where the food is amazing and the service is very friendly
The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The place feels very relaxed.
Love this place and especially due to being cypriot I truly appreciate the twist. The one dish I think I would make a suggestion on is the delicious cypriot chips. On all 3 occasions that I’ve been to Oklava they alway seem too salty and my guests have agreed. Other than that everything is to a high standard.
Fantastic. A real gem. Delicious food.
One of the best Turkish restaurants in London. Food is delicious and service was great - very friendly crowd
Wonderful lunch and surprisingly filling. Will definitely be back to finish sampling the menu!
Wonderful food ! The service is excellent too.
Food very mixed. Had some great dishes (courgette fritters, cauliflower, hake) and awful dishes (lamb belly, kebab). Also service odd, had the first few dishes then had a 25 min wait, then had another 25 min wait for the last 2 by that time wasn’t even hungry.
This was our second visit to Oklava, and we were not disappointed - great food, friendly and relaxed service. The menu is sufficiently different from Kyseri which means we visit one or the other every time we visit London as our special treat. The variety of dishes and spices are inspired, and we highly recommend both venues to all our friends.
Very good. We had the set menu each and plenty of food.
