About Oklava Shoreditch
OKLAVA is a contemporary Turkish restaurant jointly operated by Selin Kiazim and Laura Christie. In Turkish an ‘oklava’ is a traditional rolling pin which is used to make breads, pastries and pides all of which feature on our menu alongside Selin’s modern take on Turkish-Cypriot fare. Our open kitchen act as a theatre stage where guests can sit around the bar and spectate as the chefs use a stone oven and real charcoal grill, known as a mangal in Turkish to prepare their meals.
The food is complemented by a wine list focused on wines of Turkey. The ethos of the list is that wines are selected for their quality first and geographical origin second, we are proud to be showcasing some fantastic wines from the most exciting producers of one of the oldest wine growing regions of the world.
Both Laura and Selin are inspired by the London restaurant scene, flavours from travels and from fellow chefs and restaurateurs. The aim of Oklava is to push traditional boundaries and pull Turkish cuisine out of the kebab shop and onto the London restaurant scene.
Incredible value. All of our party were extremely well satisfied with the meal and the experience, each dish was a delight. And the wine list was varied and we felt comfortable tasting until we found the right bottle to please us all. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
The tomato chilli butter egg yolk pide is amazing. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu!
Absolutely love this restaurant; its about my 10th visit and I could go every week! Acoustics aren't great so be prepared for a noisy evening, but when you have food as great as this, it's a small price to pay. Definitely in my Top 5 current London restaurants.
We both loved it. We were sat at the bar. Would have liked a table but we were well looked after and had a great view of the hard working kitchen team. Warm welcome, very nice food, fab wine and great vibes. Love love love. Big fans of all you do. Well worth the trip from Bristol to dine with you. We will be back x x
I had a wonderful meal
Wonderful evening, lovely food and charming service. We will return.
Have been 4/5 times over a 5 year period, always good, should come more often.
Great food and great service
Incredible food, and drinks. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Really friendly and helpful staff. I’ll be coming again.
Great food as always - certain different from the usual Turkish. The waiter did upsell us a bit though and we ended up with too many dishes.
Went for the first time on a Friday evening with a girlfriend to catch up . Food and wine was amazing, atmosphere was great and the staff were so attentive and friendly. Thanks x
Delicious food, great vibes and welcoming staff. Chef Laurence did a wonderful job on Saturday night!
Every dish was delicious! Will definitely be back again.
Fantastic food - we had a really special time. Every dish was perfectly flavoured and spiced and we had a selection of such interesting choices. Thank you Oklava.
Excellent meal. So glad we came and didn’t go to the boring overpriced place opposite...
Beautiful food paired with warm and attentive service. Hard to beat.
We had such a fantastic meal at Oklava. We had been wanting to try the restaurant for some time and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and provided some great food recommendations as we couldn't decide what to eat! I highly recommend the Helim :) The pomegranate martini and Georgian champagne were also fantastic. I have already recommended to friends and we will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu! Thank you!
Great Vegetarian options. Great sharing plates.
The food is very tasty however it’s a bit overpriced. The venue is really cool.
Refreshing to see this modern take on traditional turkish dishes, the cooking and hospitality of the whole team is just impressive. Well done ! Would love to see these dishes paired with some natural wines if possible frome the same region.
Absolutely fabulous place! Our favorite in all of London, such attention to detail, visiting all taste buds, friendly and personal service from every waiter we have met there over the last couple of years. A Five Star - for sure!
Just an incredible meal, from the drinks to all the courses of the set menu. The sesame bread with date butter was especially delicious, and so was the cauliflower! Certainly a favourite in London now!
All had set menu, which was just way too heavy especially as we were a 9.45 booking and needed to press on through the meal. A salad or sorbet course in the middle would have been welcome, to lighten up the carb/fat oppression. This is not criticism of the individual courses, which were hot and tasty, just the balance of the meal. The service was wonderfully friendly and attentive; atmosphere and drinks also made for a great after theatre experience
