Afternoon tea was disappointing - no refills on sandwiches, only 6 pieces. Scones were dry and didn't taste fresh.
Tea arrived after a long wait. There was no milk. By the time the milk arrived the tea was stewed. Three tiny woeful sandwiches arrived on a cake stand with a good selection of cakes and warm scones after an hour. No sign of the promised bagels or vol au vonts. My daughter went to complain. By the time the other savouries finally arrived the scones were cold. A manager came to apologise and offered more scones and Prosecco which we accepted. There were no spoons for the sorbet, we had to ask twice. We were offered more tea, but again no milk, we had to ask twice. There were six adults and two children and the final bill was £197 including 15% service charge which on reflection we should have deducted. This was a special treat for my husbands aunts 90th birthday. We were not impressed.
As we have had afternoon tea at Nutfield previously, we tried ' Brunch' this time. All the cheeses, meats, pastries, omelettes were fresh and delicious. What makes the experience so good at Nutfield is the great setting , comfortable seating and views, and the delightful staff. Well done.
We arrived for our afternoon tea and was taken to our table straight away, the waiter was very friendly and asked if we were celebrating anything special or just enjoying a treat, I told him it was my husbands birthday, after serving us our champagne and our afternoon tea he came back with a slate with happy birthday written on it and some fudge and strawberries with a candle in them and sung happy birthday to my husband, I thought it was a very nice thing to do.
Delicious food and good service in beautiful surroundings
Thank you so much for your review, we hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
Great food, lovely surroundings. Service was sporadic, mainly due to location of table.
For the amount of food we got it was very over priced. Was disappointed compared to last year’s service. Won’t be coming back again, a service charge was added to my bill which I found very rude.
Absolutely lovely afternoon tea and the waiters were amazing too....
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your lovely feedback, we hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
service not professional, rushed and no attention to detail. The wine (Bordeaux 2000) was past his serving time, would still be good for cooking. we were served and charged a large glass that we didn't ask for. A shame for the chef who made a good effort for the starter and main course, apart from the amuse-bouche which was cold tinned tomatoes! Tsss, Was that a joke from the kitchen staff?
Menu choice was poor would expect roast beef on a Sunday lunch menu. Only meat choices were chicken or belly pork. Belly pork we had was dry and rock hard veg was bland and not a green veg in site. Waited five minuets for the veg to arrive by which time the meal was getting cold. Being surrounded by people having afternoon tea at 1.00pm was a bit strange only one other couple came in for lunch just as we were leaving. Should have noted the clues car park was empty and restaurant was almost empty. Bearing in mind the poor quality of the meal the price was a complete rip off.
We were served by the wonderful Kata, from the moment we sat down, she made our evening very special, her attention to detail was second to none, we were sat on a lovely table with view across the valley, which was lovely. We were given some complimentary amuse bouche to start comprising of a Salmon mousse affair delicious, and some home cooked bread, still warm divine!! We ordered the Chateaubriand, which was cooked to perfection, along with superbly cooked accompanying dishes which again were divine. Although we did not taste the wine, the selection was plentiful.
What an amazing review, thank you so much. It is always a pleasure to read such lovely comments, especially about our team members and I will be sure to pass on your feedback to Kata and the Chefs. We do hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
Very good service. Lovely food. Attentive staff

First class dinner, really enjoyed it. Fabulous hotel in a lovely country location with a great spa and gym.
Thank you for your kind comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
Very pleasant atmosphere and the dairy free afternoon tea was just as excellent as the standard afternoon tea. Have previously had afternoon tea in the library but found the restaurant to be just as relaxing. Standard of service was excellent.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review. It is always lovely to welcome guests again to the hotel. Thank you for your kind comments about the afternoon tea, I will be sure to tell the Chefs. Kind regards, Dawn
The meal was outstanding, it always is every time we visit Nutfield - the food is always above the level you could expect, the chefs are fantastic and the staff are all lovely, always willing to accommodate and take the time to make you feel welcome.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It is always a pleasure to see guests return to enjoy our hospitality and I have shared your comments with the entire team. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
We had a nice afternoon tea, but that’s as far as it would go food wise. The waiting staff weren’t hugely attentive. It was fine, lovely setting, but not really as special as an afternoon tea that costs more than £50 for two should be.
All the staff we met where a credit to your hotel
Thank you so much for your kind comment, I will be sure to share with the team. Kind regards, Dawn
We had a very good time and enjoyed the afternoon tea. The service was very good and the waiter was very helpful.
Thank you so much for your kind comments, I will be sure to pass on to the team and we hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Dawn
I will send a separate email on my experience
Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed with our visit for afternoon tea at Nutfield Priory. On arrival we were waiting to be seen to our table when numerous members of staff walked past us. The staff were not friendly when seated to the table and it’s seemed we had about 5 different people serving us. We had to ask for milk for our tea and throughout the whole afternoon no one asked if we would like a top up of tea. We were made to feel like we were asking to much when we asked for a top up of sandwiches and more drinks! On the reservation made I mentioned no fish however we were served up salmon I also stated about an allergy however this was never mentioned on visit either. At the end of the visit we received the bill and went to pay when we were approached by a very rude member of staff who was saying we owed more money than that and when we asked what for she couldn’t give us a reason and we paid what was on the bill it was very odd! We came to Nutfield for a birthday afternoon for my Nan and to be honest it was such a special experience for the amount of money we paid! I would not recommend to anybody!
Kieran was our waiter during the initial part of our afternoon tea. What an absolutely fabulous young man. goes above and beyond in keeping his guests happy. He is truly an asset to your company.
That is so kind of you to mention Kieran in such a positive way. We will be sure to share this with him and also his managers. We look forward to welcoming you again soon I hope. Kind regards, Dawn
We had a wonderful afternoon tea. The service was perfect. Very attentive but not annoyingly so. The afternoon tea was all delicious. The scones were fresh and moist and we enjoyed everything. Thank you very much.
Full professional courteous service throughout our visit. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are thrilled you had a lovely time, I will be sure to pass your comments to the team and we hope to see you again soon (and everyone you recommend!). Kind regards, Dawn
Very poor value for money. Tiny sandwiches with a minute amount of filling (zero cream cheese in the cucumber ones), disappointing tasteless and uninspiring cakes - the only redeeming feature was the scones which were excellent. Service was patchy, although there were only 2 other parties of 2 in the room. We booked the 2 for one deal, but were initially charged full price for all three. Very disappointed.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I was disappointed to read the feedback about your recent experience and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail. I would be grateful if you could provide me with a contact telephone number and convenient time to call. My direct email address is [email protected] Many thanks Chantelle
