About Norton House Hotel - Afternoon Tea
With a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, warm scones, miniature cakes, pastries and a wide choice of teas, afternoon tea at Norton House can be perfectly combined with a stroll around our 55 acres of spectacular grounds. This has to be one of the most popular venues for afternoon tea in Edinburgh.
We also offer a baby shower themed afternoon tea, the perfect way to treat a mum-to-be and gather together friends and family before the new arrival.
Service was excellent. Food was very tasty. Lots of options and all good flavours
Lovely afternoon in ambient surroundings. Food superb however the scones may be a little small. Gluten free option excellent and kids afternoon tea was spot on. I had a promotional voucher which made this a bargain
It would have been nicer to have the afternoon tea at a coffee table and not so formal as a dining table.
Service was excellent and food and tea was amazing, thank you ☺️
very good value for money
Thus was a lovely 60th Birthday gift
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea, the only suggestion I'd make is that there be a choice of more savoury and less cakes. That's only my preference, as all the food was top rate.
Staff were very attentive but not intrusive. Disappointing consistency between online booking request and actioning. Non of the requested had been read. I paid over £70 for three standard afternoon teas. Very expensive but nothing outstanding in comparison to other venues. The room itself was quite a distance for mobility impaired individuals and also from public conveniences. Sad to say not impressed and would not recommend it for the cost.
Thought service was excellent we had an exceptional friendly waitress who was both attentive but professionally un- intrusive of our space so we could enjoy our afternoon tea - the High tea was made personal with beautiful etched chocolate message on one of plates - excellent value for money x
Our afternoon tea was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was lovely and the service was excellent.
In general it was lovely afternoon with beautiful surroundings. Think their was little confusion about the order so we were left sitting before someone came to attend to us. Food was great, champagne was delicious with fabulous dessert . I would love to co.e again. :)
Lovely afternoon. Service was the highlight. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our servers were all charming and professional. The food was of a high standard and the cakes were especially delicious. Spotless linens on the table and shining cutlery all added to the experience.
Waitress Pat helped to make the day as she was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem
Would like soft drink to be included for people who don't drink tea or coffee.
Would like to say this was the second time we have been to Norton House for afternoon tea and on both occasions the young lads who were working in the restaurant were so lovely and nothing was a bother, down to earth but so pleasant nice to see. Can’t wait to come back.
The waitress was extremely professional and very attentive excellent service
Absolutely loved our afternoon tea at Norton House. We were looked after from the moment we stepped in. But not to the point we were bothered by staff. They just seemed to know when we required assistance. This was a treat for our Mums birthday and she just loved it. 10/10 to all staff. The sandwiches and cakes were a great selection and staff offered to change any we did not like. We will be back.
Excellent champagne afternoon tea, staff very helpful and caring, eager to please, they made you feel welcome and special
Lovely afternoon tea in great surroundings
It's been a few years since our last afternoon tea here. The food is standard. Love the setting. Service has dropped since we first attended wedding and lunch over 10 years ago. The decor is needing a freshening up.
It was fab!
Couldn’t fault it at all! Staff all lovely, food excellent and environment beautiful!
Drop service charge and if you must just increase the cost of drinks / food, discretionary service charges are a ripoff.
The service was excellent, the young lady who served us was very helpful and courteous and explained everything to us. However the afternoon tea was disappointing. The sandwiches were ok and the scones were good, they were probably the best of the food, but the cakes were sadly underwhelming. The Orange Drizzle was dry and no taste of orange. The meringue or macaron was tasteless and minute. The Lemon Possett was very runny and more like a drink than a creamy dessert. The Doughnuts were average, a bit doughy with no hint of lime and little pineapple curd. The Tiramasu was ok, if tiny and the only really good cake was the Chocolate and Passionfruit Delice, which was delicious. In the past we have been to the hotel for Afternoon tea before, which had always been in the drawing room behind reception, which made it a bit special, but now it is in the conservatory, which has no atmosphere. And others were there having what seemed like a business meeting. We were having this afternoon tea in memory of my mother-in-law who had enjoyed the afternoon teas at Norton House in the past, but it just didn't feel special being in the Conservatory and I know she would not have enjoyed it. It looks good on the website but more style than substance. Perhaps it was an off day for the food but the Conservatory is a bit of a cold place to have it.
