About Norton House Hotel - Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea served in our Drawing Room
My fiancé did not like some of the sandwiches so they waitress offered him some alternatives which was lovely of her, the food was lovely
We will be reviewing the meal at bouquetsbrickbatsreviews.com
The food was lovely and a very relaxed atmosphere. The service was good as well. Highly recommend it.
Food service and atmosphere were all excellent
I emailed separately to explain that the amount of leaf put in the tea pots made the breakfast tea like tar and my green tea far too strong. It took ages for hot water to arrive, which should be served with the tea as a matter of course and the waitress (fairish hair and foreign accent) gave us a filthy look when we asked for an extra cup because we had overfilled a cup with hot water trying to sort tea strengths when the hot water finally arrived, which was some time after the cakes and after asking several times for some.
The afternoon tea was up to its usual standard as was the setting. However, the service on this occasion was terrible. On previous occasions we have always been looked after attentively but on this occasion we had to ask at reception several times for a waiter. Said waiter did not even appear on one occasion. Even the reception staff looked miserable and made excuses for the dining staff rather then trying to sound cheerful and helpful. An off-day for your staff on this occasion which is certainly not our usual experience.
Lovely venue, excellent service, had a thoroughly lovely afternoon tea experience.
First cups of coffee were cold. After complaining pots of coffee were brought which were hot. Selection of sandwiches were disappointing with bland taste. Scones were lovely however the cream supplied was too runny to stay on scones and the jam was sparce to say the least.
Poorest afternoon tea experience I have had. The room was cold and totally lacking in ambience. The initial service was very slow and thereafter virtually non - existent. The staff were just not interested. The presentation of the food was very disappointing and lacking in imagination. Everything was in tones of brown and looked unappetising. The sandwiches were the only savoury item and were unattractively cut- more like children's tea time. The scones were tasty but we had to request butter for these and the fruit loaf. The cakes were very ordinary. This was not a good experience and I would not recommend it. I filled in feedback while we were there but have had no response.
Received our 'Afternoon Tea' as a gift from my son. We had a very pleasant time. Food and service were excellent with nothing being too much trouble for the staff. Fabulous location with a relaxing environment. Highly recommend.
We were not asked if we wanted to hang up our coats. We were bought tea first which was cold by the time food served. Yes we got a refill but this seems odd when the drink would have been better coming first.
Pleasant surroundings. My friend and I enjoyed our afternoon tea. Staff also very good.
Service was extremely slow. Our tea was cold before the sandwiches came and further drinks ordered were forgotten about and arrived just before us leaving. The service let the whole experience down.
The place needs soft background music.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea wonderful friendly staff, great food and a beautiful setting We would love to come again
Really disappointed with the afternoon tea I attended with my mother which I had bought as a Christmas present. The service was poor no one was available to ask about making some changes on our menu (as the waiter would disappear for very long times) and then the sandwiches were brought to us which we would have preferred to have changed (we were not asked if we wanted to make any changes). The waiter turned the music off in the room after we had arrived so there was absolutely no atmosphere in the room whatsoever. Overall very disappointed. I also noticed I had paid £29 on Groupon for the deal which was apparently reduced yet on the menu we were presented the afternoon tea for two was priced as £28.25 definitely would not be recommending. We eventually left early as yet again the waiter did not appear to collect in our plates.
The young girl that served us was really lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Thankyou very much.
We had a lovely time and everyone was very attentive.
Would have liked fewer salmon sandwiches, 1 egg mayo and 3 salmon on our plate
The sandwiches were very fresh and lovely and the scones were beautiful but the cakes were disappointing. Having been for Afternoon Tea here a number of times before I can say that with some confidence. They weren't very appetising - a couple had started to melt and the icing had fallen off before we'd even finished the sandwiches.
We enjoyed the Afternoon Tea at the Norton House very much. The food was excellent...but I was surprised to be served a tea with a tea bag hanging out of the pot. I would have expected loose leaf tea at a proper afternoon tea. The Norton House is beautiful and it was a lovely atmosphere for afternoon tea. I was disappointed by the service. We received our tea and food quickly but then never had anyone check back on us. We sat with empty tea pots for at least 15 minutes before someone came back into the room that we could wave over to request more tea. We also waited over a half hour after finishing our tea for someone to check on us so we could request our bill - ended up having to walk to the front desk to request our bill. We never saw our original server after our tea and food was delivered so I wonder if she went off duty and the new server wasn't told he had responsibility for our party. I've eaten in the restaurant at Norton House many times and had excellent service - hopefully this was just a one-off bad experience with service.
Lovely setting and service fantastic in a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Didn't like the festive afternoon tea as much as the usual one I normally get. It can sometimes be difficult to get a hold of someone for top up driks and the bill I had to go looking to find someone. I feel a couple more sandwiches would be better and maybe cut out a cake. Thanks
A really enjoyable afternoon. The food was delicious and plentiful, so much so that we were given some boxes in which to take home the food we couldn't manage to eat. At no time did we feel we were being hurried, it was a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Would be happy to have another afternoon tea at the Norton House and would highly recommend to friends.
