About Northbank Restaurant and Bar

Northbank was created and opened by Christian Butler (ex-Adam Street and Baltic) in September 2007 and offers a Modern British menu with a Cornish influence showcasing exceptional ingredients sourced from Christian’s hometown of Falmouth and surrounding areas of Cornwall in the south of England. Fresh fish is delivered daily sourced from day boats off the Cornish coast.

The view from Northbank's private terrace encompasses some of London’s most iconic landmarks including the South Bank with Shakespeare's Globe, Tate Modern and The Shard linked to the north by the “wobbly” Millennium Bridge. St Paul's Cathedral is just a short walk from the restaurant. Northbank’s prime riverside location attracts City workers, locals and tourists alike and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

I've been to Northbank many times often but not always, using a Tastecard and I have recommended it many times. The food is good but pricey and I felt that even with a Tastecard the menu last night did not reflect value for money. The steaks were thin which means the meat is invariably overcooked. A thicker, smaller cut would be more to my taste. One criticism is that the main course came minutes after the starter so it all felt a bit rushed. My friend had gone to the bathroom when the food arrived and I asked the waitress to take it back. She took his but was leaving mine and I had to ask her to take both as we would prefer to eat together. I would prefer not to feel like my food is on an assembly line so this did not work for me. Having said that, it is a lovely restaurant and I always enjoy the evening - last night was unusually a bit of a disappointment.

Overall a lovely evening with friends. Good value food ( (with Tastecard) and the policy of continually changing the excellent menu and wine list means its a joy to keep coming back. Service is excellent and everyone I've recommended you to is similarly smitten... Many Thanks

A very nice place for the lunch in front of the Tate modern. You just have to cross the ex Wobbly Bridge. (Their gin cocktails are excellent)
