Norma is a contemporary and provocative restaurant, inspired by the food and culture of Sicily with particular emphasis on the Moorish influences on the Island’s cuisine. The celebrated Chef, Ben Tish will be at the helm.
Norma will embody the celebrated old-school Italian hospitality and charm, taking inspiration from the grand café culture found in Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and celebrate the richly influenced cuisine of the Island.
Set across three floors of a characterful townhouse on Charlotte Street in London’s Fitzrovia, the first two floors will be dedicated to the restaurant and a cocktail bar, with the top floor a private dining space. There will also be a crudo bar at the entrance of Norma, serving up the freshest seasonal raw seafood, dressed in delicious olive oils and other flavourings.
The main menu will feature modern Sicilian-inspired dishes using seasonal Italian and British produce, from a selection of anti-pasti and pastas, to larger grilled meat and fish dishes. Upstairs in the private dining room, guests can order large family-style sharing dishes including whole fish and platters of seasonal vegetables.
Delicious food and friendly service
An excellent evening we will definitely come back. The Sommelier guided us to the most suitable wine for tge food rather than the most expensive and he was spot on.
Really enjoyed our visit. Staff really friendly, our wine choice was perfect, food delicious, great atmosphere. Particular mention to lady who served us (really sorry forgot her name - amazing hair!!) who was lovely. Also need to mention the loo in the ladies, never seen one of those in the UK before, brilliant, got drenched! We'll definitely be back. Thank you.
Incredible flavours, superb ambience and attentive service- the holy trinity of a new-found heaven! Can’t fault it. Every dish was an experience in itself. The flavours aren’t at all shy- just how I love them to be - and the choice on the menu is excellent. Great gluten free options, even for pasta! Highly recommended, especially for special occasions, celebrations or simply for an end of week treat to the senses. I’ll be back for sure, especially for those pan-fried artichokes with pine nut purée. To.die.for.
I’ve already recommended Norma to three friends
A fabulous evening with great authentic food and great service.
Gorgeous food and lovely staff in wonderful surroundings. What more can you want, a real taste of Sicily!
Absolutely delicious food will definitely be back.
Delicious and unusual food. Charming service. Next time we will accept the offer of a complimentary glass of prosecco!
A brilliant restaurant, with excellent food and lovely staff. We felt very welcome there and were provided with outstanding service from the first minute! Every dish is full of flavour, particularly the vegetarian courses!
Exceptional food, definitely will be coming back
Main course pasta dishes were not hot. The sardine tagliolini dish was cold - when we raised this with the waiters one apologised and said that the kitchen was in the basement so food got cold in the dumb waiter and another one said that’s how Sicilians liked it - nonsense of course as we have been to Palermo often. Need to sort this out. We were also brought the wrong bill but were honest enough to raise this as the bill we were brought was much cheaper and for another table. Must do better
Loved Norma. Lovely staff and delicious food. Very filling! Would be 5 star if we hadn’t had to remind the waiter to bring the wine we ordered. We will return.
Lovely meal and great hospitality!
Dear Sir, Madame I wanted to follow up on our meal last night at Norma. We were very disappointed by how it went - and it certainly put a dampener on my husband Geoff's birthday celebrations. We received our snack and starter very rapidly ordering - even before we had been served our wine. We then had to wait for up to an hour for our main courses, with no indication of what the delay was or any apology. During the wait, a second plate of fritters arrived that we hadn't ordered and didn't want. The food was only OK, nowhere near the level that we had read about in reviews. It was also very salty, although that may be a subjective judgement. We were fed up with it all, so didn't stay for dessert and therefore couldn't blow out a candle for his birthday. The staff were leaving or clearing up by the time we were leaving anyway. I am guessing that there were problems in the kitchen, but we weren't told or offered an apology for the delay. The waitress who served us was very good and there is no blame attached to her at all. You are a new restaurant and I wish you well, but this was definitely a poor way to spend our special evening.
Lovely atmosphere, food and service
Had a great time, will be back soon.
The staff and service was excellent and the food was delicious . I would highly recommend it .
Excellent service & beautiful tasteful decor Absolutely loved the plum and rose cake
Delightful staff and utterly delicious food.
the upstairs room lacked atmosphere and as there were tables available downstairs when we arrived and left just wondered why we were shown upstairs. The food was expensive for what it was £19 for an aubergine parmigiana an example. Service was unremarkable, again you expect more at these prices
Excellent food and a superb atmosphere for a wonderful family reunion lunch.
Arrancini excellent. Better than in Catania! Pumpkin risotto beautifully served in a little pumpkin but a bit bland in taste. Lamb was perfect and the aubergine/parmesan very tasty indeed. But I couldn't finish such a large serving - shame! But plenty of hungry big-eaters would have. The pear pudding was a great favourite as was the Norma ice-cream with figs. Good selection of Sicilian wine. Very nice staff. Will certainly go back.
